I've recently discovered that my family originated from not only Northern Spain, but more specifically Asturias. What a breath-taking land. Someday I hope to visit Espana and besides make a pilgrimage to Compostela, I'll make sure to visit the land of my ancestors. Muchos de nosotros los Mexicanos del Oeste y Norte del pais tendemos a tener una carga genetica en su mayoria Europea. Mi familia es de un pueblo que se llama San Jose de Gracia, Michoacan. Y mi familia al igual que la mayoria de la gente del pueblo tiene piel clara y una aparencia predominantemente Española/Europea y es que en ese pueblo fue habitado en su mayoria por Criollos ( decendientes de Españoles nacidos en Mexico ). Muchos pueblos de Jalisco y de los estados del Norte del pais tambien paso lo mismo. Yo al igual que tu siempre me e sentido mas identificado con mi parte Española, ya que por mis venas corre mayoritariamente sangre Española de la cual me siento bastantemente orgulloso. Hola, el apellido Arias tiene su origen en el norte si, en Galicia, Asturias, creo que también Santander (sobre todo en Galicia)...pero es un apellido muy antiguo y está muy extendido por toda España, por ejemplo, yo tengo un amigo de Martos (Jaén) que se llama Miguel Arias y toda su familia y antepasados de varias generaciones son de Jaén. Pero me he estado informando y los orígenes y las raices de este apellido están sobre todo en Galicia. Gracias por tu comentario, espero haberte ayudado un poco. Saludos.

@@Kasturies para que sea como tú dices tienen que concurrir dos circunstancias que en España ni en ninguna parte de Europa se dan: una es que existan poblaciones aisladas unas de otras en un mismo territorio y otra es que el devenir de la Historia haya contribuido a desarrollos culturales totalmente separados y como entenderás aunque te joda, eso tampoco ha ocurrido aquí. Primero la Península Ibérica es un entorno muy pequeño y su gente está a un nivel genético muy estrechamente relacionada, todos son en realidad un único pueblo en términos biológicos. Y mi familia al igual que la mayoria de la gente del pueblo tiene piel clara y una aparencia predominantemente Española/Europea y es que en ese pueblo fue habitado en su mayoria por Criollos ( decendientes de Españoles nacidos en Mexico ). Muchos pueblos de Jalisco y de los estados del Norte del pais tambien paso lo mismo. Yo al igual que tu siempre me e sentido mas identificado con mi parte Española, ya que por mis venas corre mayoritariamente sangre Española de la cual me siento bastantemente orgulloso. i will be moving to the homeland soon my family left for the US after the dictatorship and they couldnt have been more wrong to do so my grandmother told me so many stories and im obsessed with my peoples culture i did enough digging to even find out what tribe im decended from ive visited enough times to know that while my body may be in the US my heart is in portugal and i continue to learn more and more everyday about my people

Hola, el apellido Arias tiene su origen en el norte si, en Galicia, Asturias, creo que también Santander (sobre todo en Galicia)...pero es un apellido muy antiguo y está muy extendido por toda España, por ejemplo, yo tengo un amigo de Martos (Jaén) que se llama Miguel Arias y toda su familia y antepasados de varias generaciones son de Jaén. Pero me he estado informando y los orígenes y las raices de este apellido están sobre todo en Galicia. Gracias por tu comentario, espero haberte ayudado un poco. Saludos.

@@Kasturies para que sea como tú dices tienen que concurrir dos circunstancias que en España ni en ninguna parte de Europa se dan: una es que existan poblaciones aisladas unas de otras en un mismo territorio y otra es que el devenir de la Historia haya contribuido a desarrollos culturales totalmente separados y como entenderás aunque te joda, eso tampoco ha ocurrido aquí.
Primero la Península Ibérica es un entorno muy pequeño y su gente está a un nivel genético muy estrechamente relacionada, todos son en realidad un único pueblo en términos biológicos. Respecto a lo segundo ocurre que se confunden las cosas. La cultura que hoy día entendemos como lo celta es en realidad un refrito que sirve para atraer al turista y venderle un cuento para que consuma productos elaborados precisamente para ese mercado. Conozco el caso escocés porque me toca muy directamente y allí es curioso que todos son Highlander cuando en realidad la inmensa mayoría de los escoceses son Scott y hablan una lengua que está estrechamente relacionada con el frisón. Pero además si vas a alguna tienda de souvenires encontrarás hasta que tú mismo eres escocés. Pues con lo celta aquí nos pasa lo mismo. En España en realidad todos participamos de una misma cultura y lo que vemos en cada región son variantes de lo mismo. En España está por ver que hubiera celtas y si los hubo estuvieron en la Meseta, principalmente en sitios como Valladolid, Soria, Guadalajara y Zaragoza. En España la romanización fue rápida y profunda y como resultado hablamos lenguas romances salvo el euskera. Y por si fuera poco el fenómeno de la Reconquista llevó a muchísima gente de los territorios cristianos del norte a vivir a las zonas del sur.
Pero bueno, que me lío. El caso es que se ha creado un entramado de folklóre local enmarcado eso sí en un precioso paisaje atlántico que se ha pretendido emparentar haciéndolo encajar a la fuerza y con calzador en algo que salvó por los elementos comunes que pertenecen al ámbito cultural indoeuropeo no tienen nada que ver.
