Wow, flying is so incredible. Yes turbulence can be scary at times, but I’m always in amazement of the engineers who have designed these planes! They can withstand so much in the sky. An engineering marvel!
Most peoples have no idea the angle of bend these commercial planes wings can go up to before it finally snap. I remember watching a doc test on this and can say it is almost impossible for these wings to break in normal situation by any weather, felt a lot safer after learning this.
Yes! I used to be so scared of it until I learned a lot more about aerodynamics. It won't bring a plane down the same way driving on a bumpy road won't crash a car. (I mean, it could, if you were driving like an idiot... but pilots know exactly how to fly safely!)
Turbulence due to straying into a thunderstorm system, squall line etc. will down aircraft no problems. Mother Nature is stronger than anything we’ve ever built-just ask Titanic which smashed into an iceberg weighing near 3/4 million pounds.
Thanks you Mr.Diaz to show a flight that should have scared me even i'm 60 years old and i've flown arround thé World ,i took even an old caravelle from Nouvelle Calédonie to port vila Vanuatu.Loking at your vidéo a lot of mémoires Come back, thanks again well done
I flew to Narita on a Boeing 777 from American Airlines and had a tough turbulence the Pilots really know how to overcome it after a 25 year experience flying a 777
The approach to Denver is almost always turbulent. It’s like a roller coaster. Also Jackson Hole has rough approaches. I don’t fear it- it’s cool. Takeoffs are by the odds much more dangerous.
My only bad flight was an old Texas International (merged with Continental in 1982) flight from DEN to ABQ in 1979. We were bouncing around all over the place. Insane pitching and rolling. I’ve flown a zillion miles since then and haven’t had anything close to that craziness. They said it was the wind over the Rockies. Makes sense.
I don’t mind turbulence during climb or descend. I don’t like turbulence at 35000 feet during the cruise. I have sympathy with anyone who doesn’t like turbulence. But turbulence is part of the package on any flight.
That's actually considered light turbulence to pilots. But strong turbulence for passengers. You don't ever want to experience what the pilots consider strong turbulence.
I experienced 2 go arounds at Narita, that was the only time :D It took me by surprise I didn't even know anything like that existed so it felt a bit scary when we were about to touch the ground like every second now suddenly the full thrust and we flew up :D and he did it to us twice :D oh man fortunately I'm not scared of flying but I really wanted to be on the ground as it was 12 hour long flight
I was thinking the same thing - above the wings is always the smoothest ride, which is why I always try to sit there. If it looked like this above the wings... those poor people in the back
Another pilot has probably already commented but, if not, here’s a brief description of turbulence. There are four turbulence intensity classifications, as reported by a pilot: light, moderate, severe and extreme. The description of each can be easily found on a Google search. The turbulence in the video was light with possibly an occasional moderate bump. It it had been severe, or “heavy”, as you described it, we would have heard passengers screaming in the video. And, of course, what is light turbulence to a Boeing 787 could easily be moderate or severe to a Cessna 172 at that same place and time.
I remember the captain warning of turbulence landing in Narita. We started bunny hopping immediately. Poor Japanese guy next to me had to hand me his barf bag cause I filled mine
Is there a no way to avoid this path , unless landing. They say pilots are informed in advance to avoid some specific path as this happens on the way. Why keep going into it deeper and deeper.
i guess its a normal occurence for turbulence when touching down in narita. i experienced this too back in 2020 when i flew into narita from singapore...
@@danieldiez2990 Actually the spoilers are for totally removing lift from the wings during touchdown......i think it is impossible to activate them in flight, obviously this would be disastrous !!!
The trailing edge panel that is constantly moving is the “flaperon” which moves for roll or banking control. The panels on top of the wing are speed brake/spoiler panels which are used to spoil the lift, creating drag, to help slow the aircraft down in the air and on the ground, but also they are used for roll control, they deploy on the downward banking wing.
Airplanes are build of mix of materials, not plastics and wingflex is part of the design to save fuel. The amount of flexibility before breaking that wing is an amount of force you'll never experience on a flight. Fatigue is check on airplanes to avoid breaks of any kind unlike we do on old cars but people drive them anyway.
Heavy turbulence? You mean severe? Plane drops few thousand feet, feels like God is shaking the plane, people pray and scream, luggage falls out of overheads...that's severe.rsrefly ever happens. Some pilots never experience it.
"Heavy"? Na, just a few bumps. Try flying through a Hurricane in a P-3 Orion. That is turbulence. The general flying public has no idea what flying is really like.

these heavy turbulence approaches are so satisfying
Scary and it makes most people think the plane is going to crash. But it won’t. Turbulence is normal and doesn’t bring down a plane.

I was literally waiting for the landing

Sounds bad is common around Japan
Very similar to a JAL plane back in 1993 everyone was in the brace position , I remember landing and getting off looking as white as a sheet lol
Turbulence are like bumps in the road- expect it. I love watching the flaps- auto pilot work
I am sorry. But turbulence is absolutely nothing like a bump on the road. Turbulence is more like an earthquake. But in he sky.
Expect turbulence when flying through clouds
bumpy but lovely view after exiting the rain clouds
This is quite normal, a B787 was designed to improve turbulence and this is not going to crash the plane, it will all be okay

Front too the pilots 🤣

I had the same experience when we landing in Moscú. There was a terrify storm so the plane was moving all the time while it was landing
The plane is also shaking because the flight spoilers are out, they make more drag so that the plane can loose speed.
Especially flying through clouds
Pilot was probably like: "we encountered some moderate turbulence".
We encountered a lesbian
No this is light
That's actually considered light turbulence to pilots. But strong turbulence for passengers. You don't ever want to experience what the pilots consider strong turbulence.
Wow! That’s serious turbulence.
Kinda light-moderate turbulence
We had a turmbulance on a a319 American Airlines from Chicago Illinois to Jacksonville Florida.
the plans was so fast even during decent
Narita is known for a bumpy sky. You get turbulence like that pretty often around here :)

Why do people panic landing with turbulence? I get freaking scared at 35k . Above ground. Now that’s scary. Japan has that when u fly by the Island
You don't feel any turbulence when flying first class.
...good luck we're all counting on you." moment.
I hope the plane landed safely
It did, near Narita airport weather was fine
dont think hw would be here to post the video if the plane didnt land safely. Hed be in cuckoo land if that was the case
Did it ever land ? Just have to wait. And wait. And..........
Is that the only wing the aircraft had ? Amazing.

As long as the plane is well maintained else catastrophe can happen if wing breaks off or other structural failure.
When is the last time a wing broke off?
787 is supposed to be much smoother than other planes in the same conditions. Must have been pretty bad. I don’t enjoy turbulence at all.
I do.
turbulence is fun to me
No plane will be smooth on any turbulence. Dumbass.
I love turbulence…in the flight simulator where I always crank it up to the max!😅
Hi Daniel, I'm currently working on a UK documentary about turbulence and I would love to include your footage - would this be ok with you? Thanks :)
Oooh I felt some bad turbulence during late February in Narita. This is during the Haru Ichiban winds

BOAC 1966 Tokyo, clear air turbulence near Mt.Fuji, crash, all dead...
My country is cloudy most of the time, so when its time to land I'm just like "Yeah, bring it on btch"
What function do those very small flaps have, since they are almost always moving ???
I'm no expert but I think you meant the spoilers, those activate automatically in the dreamliner for stability if I'm not wrong

This doesn’t look like „heavy“ turbulence, it is normal that the air is rougher while flying through clouds. Looks like a regular Southwest flight😂
It’s a 10-20-30 minutes pain when it happens
"No step" written on the wing. That figures, i can't see any stairs either.........No loitering would figure too.
Flaps extension in action
Kept waiting for the "heavy" turbulence, didn't really even see moderate just a normal average bumpy flight.
Meanwhile in the cockpit everything under control
This is far from beeing classified as heavy turbulence
Terrifying. Being over the wings supposed to give you the smoothest ride..yikes..

I hate that Rollercoaster feeling on descend. Smh 🤢🤢🤮
Surprised I heard no screaming (but not surprised I heard someone coughing lol)
Japanese people don't often show their feelings I guess
Livia Neffa: Often Whooping Cough like symptoms.
Having the speed breaks out probably didn’t help
this is a japanese plane !!!! have you seen red circle on left end wing ?????
Rock n roll
Dear, that's not really so bad.
Looks like a red meatball out near the wingtip.
Agree that this is a logical procedure as long as we challenge Nature’s laws, but....
