Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards is a 2.5 dimensional side-scrolling adventure game featuring Kirby, our little pink hero. This time around, it's up to Kirby to collect the seventy-four crystal shards and save the fairies' home, Ripple Star.
In this run, Nahoc ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/N... ) collects all shards while showing off some of the abilities this game has to offer. Please read the submission text for more information.

My only criticism with this run is that it makes Kirby cry after each level.

You can tell this is a TAS because Miracle Matter was dealt with effectively and easily

If I'm correct you can also hold Fishbones above your head and perform a triple shot
I think I actually remember doing that and I was like 6 years old. Probably not though.
Yeah, there are a couple of enemies like that IIRC that have special effects if you hold them, usually ones that don't give copy abilities. Glunks will constantly shoot bullets upward.

I find it interesting that he constantly uses the fire ability and not the double-fire, which you would think would be faster
I think it's because double fire has 'ending lag' that can't be cancelled out of like single fire appears to be

Great gimmicks (dual powers is probably my favorite in the entire series, wish they'd bring it back), timeless 2D Kirby gameplay, fire music.
Not the most challenging game, bit I think it's perfect for what it is.
@@ArclinusCastoral “Underrated” doesn’t imply the game quality itself is sub-par or lacking, it means not as many people talk about or play the game as much as the game deserves.
@@AfrewSpines Cool, even by that definition the game had almost 1.8 million recorded sales. Beyond that it was reviewed to a general spread of 7 to 8. Thanks for your 'um, actually', I know what I meant to say.

If Nintendo decides to remake Kirby 64, it should not only have better graphics but also the ability to play as one of Kirby friends. That idea actually almost happened in Kirby 64, but due to either time constraints or graphical limitations it was never implemented.

What injures Kirby at 57:26?
That missile the robot launches knocks Kirby back, and he takes damage when he hits the ground.
actually wait, it might've been because he ran into the robot. I'm gonna check real quick
okay yeah I was wrong, it's because he physically touched the hull of the moving robot, which bumps him back and makes him take damage when he hits the ground. it's kinda inconsistent though, I'm not sure why he's able to hit the robot unharmed sometimes

The TAS author says this about HR-E in the submission notes:
"He is a pain to manipulate, but there’s worse... when trying to hit him with the fire ability, in his second form, you have to hit a very specific spot to hurt him, otherwise it won’t work. Anyway, off to the last planet!"
when I was trying it out, hitting the boss with fire wouldn't work, as advertised; half the time, it dealt the damage and flung Kirby back, and the other half, it didn't deal the damage and still flung Kirby back. I'm not sure what the difference was, but that's a question of "why wasn't Kirby injured by the other times", not of "what injured Kirby at 57:26". so, case closed!
