    👌 How to restore a black limestone patio. Jet washing & sealing 👍 Satisfying pressure washing ASMR
    Power washing and re-sealing a black limestone patio to restore its rich colour.
    Black limestone paving can be very hard to maintain. Keeping its rich, deep colour requires a dedicated black limestone sealer.
    ⭐️This patio was neglected with some nasty cement stains and residue.
    A simple, clear sealer wouldn't have worked and would have highlighted many of the bad areas. We pressure-washed and then used our black limestone sealer from Smartseal. A black pigmented acrylic sealer to re-colour and protect this beautiful stone.
    The actual sealing process starts around 21:00mins.
    🧰 Equipment used in this video
    Wide angle low-pressure nozzle
    Dosatron chemical dosing unit for sodium hypochlorite
    Smartseal black limestone sealer

    Nicely explained once again Phill, I did one of these a few years ago with similar issues, easy joint residue not rinsed off properly and stuck to the stone. Good call on the salts from the hypo .. how did you know that? I gave it a dam good rince and used a tile stone cleaner to make surface it ph neutral. Limestone seems to be very high maintenance after 12 / 18 months it will need doing again worse in areas where things have been sitting like flower pots. You did a good job rescuing it, well done👍

      Cheers mate, yeah it was pretty bad condition. Looks like builders left cement everywhere. Shame as I bet those slabs cost a few quid.

    Looks fabulous! You can still see the definition in the stone work. Pity about dusty footprints but the rain will wash those off. I like it!

    Use like Colour enhance sealant look nice job all found best put it on that size of area spray-on 👍 sometimes when you roll it on
    Leave roll marks so got to keep going over it 👍

      Colour enhancer sealer would have done nothing to this patio. Even when it was wet it was still pasty and badly stained. The black sealer was used to cover the bad patches where it had been damaged and neglected. You cant spray this sealer only roller or brush.

    Nice job glad I found this channel. What would be your best tip for someone starting out on the power washing branch of external cleaning? I run a window cleaning round currently and would like to branch out.

      I get asked this a lot and it's something I've considered myself for a few years. However I am so busy doing pressure washing there is no way I could successfully run both. All my time get taken cleaning and I just couldn't sustain a window round. Also van space is an issue, pro washers are tank fed which you may think that's OK as you have a tank for your window water. Unfortunately pressure washers can't use pure water so the tank will need draining everytime you switch jobs. The biggest challenge is doing a pressure cleaning job properly and quickly. Cheap low power washers simply take forever, yes they will do the job...eventually. I mean there's plenty people using small petrol washers and they feel its fine, they have nothing to compare it to. I have a small 200bar 10lpm washer on the van that I use if access is a problem and I can't get the main hose to the area. I won't however take on big jobs with it as I know it takes so much longer. The difference in speed is massive between a small washer and a pro washer, think smart car vs lamborghini. If you feel you can make both work then go for it, but if you have a decent window round I wouldn't. Pressure cleaning is seasonal and runs mid march to around septmeber/early October. Any other questions please ask, phill.

      @@DirtyDriveAway Thanks for the response mate. I can appreciate that, I thought as much with the professional kit. I am thinking of trying to get a smaller set of jobs to start with just to build up the experience and because currently have only just been able to get hold of a small petrol washer like the little one you have. I started my round with the intention of building it up little.by little to provide more and more services, so my plan was to set this up see how we run for the next 6 months and then make a decision on how to expand. I will be overseeing the work but I have someone that would be doing it for me. Hopefully all goes well and I can get a behemoth jet wash for big jobs 🤣

      @@bradleyswainson9319 just make sure the person doing it for you has the same quality expectations as you and you'll be fine. Don't forget to research different stone types and block paving always needs re sanding after (when dry) so you have to factor that into the job/price. If you ever want to get a decent washer speak to Damian/Arron at Qservices in Ingleton Lancashire, they are good guys and will only sell decent stuff, assuming your in the UK.

      Usually it's sodium hypochlorite, but you have to be careful with the mix on black limestone as it can fade the colour. This patio however was beyond fading before the sealer.

    • @DirtyDriveAway
      @DirtyDriveAway  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends if its residual dirt in which case a chemical will be needed. I cant see you causing damage to the stone so I would say a mild sodium hypochlorite would help shift any ingrained dirt. Black limestone only looks good when it's laid. After a year or so it fades badly.

      Just a mild sodium hypochlorite. You must be careful using it on black limestone as it can wash the colour out. As it was in real poor condition, it didn't matter on this patio.

      Depends on amount of food trafic but typically sealers last 3-5 years.

    Can you use a FSC on limestone slabs? My online research is saying not to high pressure wash, just a soft wash with hypo. But wasn’t sure if a FSC would be ok?

    • @DirtyDriveAway
      @DirtyDriveAway  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not a massive fan of an FSC on anything other than block pave. I would prefer something like a wide angle nozzle and hypo personally.
