In fairness to you, I think they made the girl look FAR too similar to Vi. Think it confused a lot of people, I didn't catch on til the end of the episode
You'll see a picture of her later, near Vi. Similar look to young Violet. (Before Vi went from just plain badass to prison jawbreaker level badass. Also, I love how every time that guy runs into Vi, he gets demolished.)

@@Kwigs_kun yeah i've seen so many people miss that, in reactions, in reddit forums, on twitter. i also don't think it would have been out of character for vi to be a part of the firelights, either, after what she saw in episode 3 so a lot of us just assumed that was what happened to her!

Silco and Jinx relationship is that of a father/daughter relationship only (they are really close to eachother because they both suffer from trauma and a fear of abandonment, plus Jinx also has extreme attachments issues)
It's just that the writers wrote their scenes to make the spectator uneasy on purpose
Jinx is very clingy with Silco because of her issues with abandonment. It's really heartbreaking but understandable
I also think Jinx -could- go farther. Powder/Jinx always seems to have all emotions fixated on one person because of her abandonment issues.
Also after several rewatches, I realized Silco reacts to Jinx like someone in a abusive relationship. He becomes progressively more and more afraid of saying the wrong thing to her, and she becomes more and more menacing towards him. Especially after she slaughters a half dozen firelights and another half dozen enforcers in the span of a day, with no remorse or care for what hell that brings down on the undercity.
The writers were trying to make the spectator uneasy on purpose, by implying at least the possibility of a sexual relationship. I think that those who flat-out claim that it is obviously merely a father-daughter relationship are simply wrong, even though it turns out in the end that that is what it is.
@@brianthom6798 the possibility component is brought on because Jinx is in puberty going through the stage everyone her age does where they begin exploring sexual emotions brought on by being a late teen. So she’s clinging to the one male figure who she believes loves her …while Silco sees her as a daughter she sees him as the only male figure who cares for her creating a sexual tension which is what you feel in all their seems…a man who sees a himself in a youthful person…and a girl who sees a man she loves who loves her.
''I'm so sad for jinx'' is kind of the only emotional constant throughout Arcane
Not only. There's also feeling bad for other characters.
Vi wasn’t at the beginning of the episode...it was a girl that looked like her that triggered Jinx’s ptsd...Vi was in prison since she got taken away in episode 3

There are so many people who believe that the show actually killed off such an important character as Vi, so unceremoniously. It's so, so silly. And they overlook the fact that the pink haired girl changes shape as Jinx is looking at her.
If you aren't already aware the song Jinx is listening to right after she steals the gemstone is called "Get Jinxed". It was the song that was written for the original characters release for LoL. It was made back in 2013 and the video for it was done by Fortiche(same studio that did Arcane). It was also Riot's first music video.
I love that the Councilman that Mel gave the child's toy to in episode 2 is *still* working on it, ~7 years later.
"I'm asking you." As someone who didn't often get asked for my side of the story by my parents this always gets me but I was already hooked at the end of episode 3 by the symbolism of her literally disarming him.
i was so surprised that he continuously defended her as well. definitely thought he was gonna be a cookie cut villain who was just 100% pure evil
@@AlanaMisako This show does a brilliant job of taking many 'trope' characters and turning them on their heads. I've watched countless hours of movies and tv, and consumed hundreds of what us old folks refer to as 'books' during my life, and I still maintain that Arcane is one of, if not the, best written narratives I've come across in decades.
Yes! That little scene REALLY spoke to me and showcased that Silco actually can do some great parenting. Yes, you can argue about other things but THIS moment right here IS *objectively* good parenting for he actually listens to her side of the story, calmly reprimands her by letting her know what this mistake cost them, makes sure she understands by getting a proper acknowledgement (which he encouragingly validates with "I know"), and then advises her to take some time i.e. clear her head a bit. Like, I'm still salty over some stuff that happened when I was a kid. Cases in which my parents were quick to jump into conclusions based on someone else's reaction and didn't even give me a chance to explain so I then got spanked over some stuff I was never guilty of. No wonder Silco's "I'm asking you" stood out to me so much. Would have loved to hear that same phrase.
You've probably gotten this already, but. Vi has been in prison the entire time since Ep3. This was about a 7 year jump. Markus grabbed her at the end of the episode and just dummped her in a cell and left her there.

By the way the pink haired girl in the beginning wasn't Vi. She's a lot shorter, has a totally different face, and jinx even says it wasn't Vi when she's talking to silco
Jinx and Silco aren't an item. Ever since the events of episode 3, its seems like Silco just spoiled Jinx/Powder, so she's never really grown up from that point in time. So the way she socializes and speaks to people is very childish, it lacks boundaries. That's why she's always so physically close to Silco cuz in her mind she's still a little girl being comforted by her new "father"
You're probably right about all that. But it's still super weird and creepy (which isn't a bad thing).

Silco & Jinx are not an item. If u haven't noticed, Jinx is very child like in her behavior. She clings to him for comfort & approval like a little kid would w/a parent.
I'm glad u noticed in editing that the pink haired girl was not Vi. U might have been talking when Jinx mentioned to Silco that one of the Firelights had pink hair just like Vi. Silco replied back "Your sister is gone."
Gonna give u a heads up on the time jump from episode 3 to episode 4. 7yrs have passed since Powder's monkey bomb, & Vi getting dragged off by Marcus (The Sheriff u don't like.). So, after the time jump Powder aka Jinx is about 18yrs old & Vi is like 22yrs old. U know, Vi's been in prison ever since Marcus knocked her out & took her away. She was only about 15yrs old @ the time. The only reason I mention anything about the time jump is because no one watching the show seems to know how much time had passed. I looked it up on Google. That's how I know.
Silco and Jinx's relationship is solely that of a father and daughter, completely platonic. Though it's up to you to decide if you think it's a healthy father/daughter relationship
It was already stated on twitter that those scenes are made in that way purposefully showing how weird is their relationship
@@Moon-wy2co I don't care what anyone says, normal fathers and daughters do not behave towards each other in that way. That said, the implication that the relationship might be something gross made it that much more interesting.
@@brianthom6798 i think it's probably purposefully done to show that jinx hasn't matured at all since the incident, since what she does is similar to what a small child would do.

I think you're the first reactor who's picked up in Councilor Medarda's motives this early. Usually people get that 'she seems manipulative', but you went right to "she wants him to be the leader".
Mel is kind of a boss, but I think she's a slow burn for most people. From the time she was introduced, you can see her counting votes and winning people to her side, but a lot of people get lost in how drop-dead gorgeous she is.
The timeskip was 7 years, Jinx is 18 years old.
Jinx and Silco are not an item, I think you can move on to the next episodes without worry. Jinx looks really cool though.
People who suffer from mental health problem depression would really relate on jinx/powder this is why i really love this show i was able too relate too alot of things 😊

This is definitely one of those shows where you need to watch each episode like one more time to get everything thing that happens. Really engaging and well made
The bullying Powder went through really messed her up. The only one who supported her was Vi, who supported her in her toybombs, but when she left her behind, Powder broke her toys because they weren't good enough. She is desperate for affirmation and being needed, so she clings to Silco who can provide that for her.
Part of me wonders if it is also because her parents were taken from her at such an early age that she didn't develop correctly. Like when kittens are taken from their mother too early. Neither Vi nor Vander seemingly took a parental role in her upbringing.
Bullying? To me, at most, Mylo was a bit snarky. Claggor was willing to go back for her when she froze on the roof in ep1, he also lowered her carefully down to the balcony later. I don't think the relationships between Vi, Powder, Mylo and Claggor were outside relative norms, probably closer knit than many.
Powder has very serious abandonment issues, yes, perhaps brought on by losing her parents. I think she's so focused on being useful because of her fear of abandonment - a prospect that is unbearable to her.
@@Hohum37 I disagree. Mylo belittled her several times a day. 100% that would be classified as bullying where I am from. It is of course culture dependent so mileage may vary. I think it is very clear that the showrunners did it for the specific reason to explain part of her trauma. Look at her dolls and hallucinations. Mylo is always a monster to her.
@@HoskTheCub I think the dolls and hallucinations are about her killing her brothers, not from hating them. Mylo was mildly snarky. Arcane is careful in what it shows, and their relationship clearly wasn't abusive anywhere near to the level that it could drive her insane.
@@Hohum37 She goes to her room feeling horrible about herself. Mylo may think he was only snarky, but it's the viewpoint of the bullied that decides. Mylo is the monster of her self doubt. The one that sits on her shoulder and tells her she isn't good enough.
@@HoskTheCub " it's the viewpoint of the bullied that decides" agreed. And she doesn;t go off crying and having tantrums about it. She mentions it to her sister and it's pretty much cleared up. Arcane shows us the significance - (little) - it;s only when she accidentally kills them that she goes off the deep end.

Jinx and Silco are just father and daughter but the makers of Arcane made them look like they're more, but I think Jinx is just very close to Silco and you can tell by him just allowing Jinx to stick that thing into his eye.

It's a 7 year time skip so Jinx is only about 16-17. It's a father/daughter relationship since her still being essentially a kid makes anything else pretty gross.

@@beyondviolet Given that Silco would be about 50 in Act 2. whether she was 18 or 17 is kind of irrelevant. Add in the fact that he 'adopted' and 'raised' her from when she was a very young child anything other than father/daughter is nothing but twisted.

The show deff wouldn't put a teenage girl with an old man, but they do want you uncomfortable because their trauma causes an attachment disorder where physical platonic love is craved.

It seems the 90% of all TH-cam reactors all think the random girl at the beginning is Vi despite the face looking different and the fact that Jinx confirms it it wasn't her twice before the end of the episode (once to Silco and once again when she is talking to dead Milo) I wonder why that is...
Poor Viktor being left behind, forgotten and didn't even get a credit for his help and support for Jace's Hextech.
i dont think he was left behind, more like he didnt want to be on the front, when Jayce goes to the stage he even asks if Victor wants to come and he declines, and i guess he did decline the spotlight since the beginning.

Well, Caitlyn is a major character for sure in Arcane. I'd say pivotal in fact in regards to Vi and Jinx (Powder).

For clarification, as you, many others, legitimately so, misperceive Silco and Jinx's father/daughter relationship having an implicit sexual component due to their uncomfortably proximal interactions. Though it is inappropriate, it isn't sexual, but this:
Many a dog owner has experienced this if they've had their dog since a puppy. Often, initially a larger grown dog still behaves by the maturity and sensibilities of its former puppy self and size, ensuing inappropriate and calamitous incidents.
This is comparable to Jinx. As you perceived and the show has evinced, though into her teenage she has matured physically and in her genius intellect , emotionally she's still the traumatized little lost girl Powder.
Silco is tolerant and indulgent of his daughter's immature conduct with him because he cherishes and accepts his daughter as she is for why she is.
The Jinx/Silco relationship isn't sexual, but the creators intentionally imply that it is, to make the scenes uncomfortable. Normal fathers and daughters do not behave towards each other in that way.
@@brianthom6798 Correction: Jinx acts that way towards Silco, but Silco never reciprocates. It's clear from his body language that he's tolerating it, not encouraging it.
And they didn't say it was a normal father/daughter relationship, just that it was non-sexual.

Jinx has abandonment issues and is especially weird about fathers because of Vander dying at her hand. Her relationship with Silco is very creepy looking because of how physical she is, but it’s entirely innocent.

Marcus chloroformed Vi in the last episode and threw her in prison as the culprit for the explosion in Jayce's home. She's been stuck there for 7 years and he told Silco she was dead.

She's in prison this episode at the end. Silco tells Jinx Vi is gone when she's mentioning the girl with the pink hair she shot looked like Vi. It's only pointing out the obvious and since it's been awhile since she saw the last episode I'm just recapping it for her...

I think you're starting to see where Arcane is a bit lacking. SO MUCH is happening and you're always yearning for more ! It's still a great show but the pace sure is hectic as heck !

quite literally every single person i’ve talked to irl has said they were confused and weirded out by their relationship at first, even the creators said they wanted it to feel weird at first. obviously after watching the whole show it’s apparent that it’s a paternal relationship
