Is 90 gallons enough for a bearded dragon? I’m gonna get while it’s still a baby. It’s going to have many different textures, things to do, enrichment options, etc. I was just wondering if that’s enough room, the enclosure is 16 inches tall and I’m planning to take it out while I do school for 1-2 hours a day. It’s gonna have weekly bathed and outside time every other day too. I just feel bad that it’s in a 90 gallon cage lol.
I’ve been wanting to upgrade my beardy to a 4x2x2 tank and the dresser I have him sitting on is long enough but it’s not wide enough to hold it well, there’d be about 4in stick out on each side (on the 2ft) side, would that be okay? If anything I could potentially move him to sit on my desk instead, as it is wider, but it’s not as sturdy. So I’m a bit lost on what to do 🥲😅
How do you get the heat lamp on the enclosure cause that's what we are struggling with right now, the enclosure is made out of wood and it's got a whole on the top where the lights supposed to go but idk how to put it there?
Is the entire enclosure closed with small vents on the side of the enclosure? If so that’s a closed top enclosure and you’ll need mounting bracket for inside the enclosure to mount the lights and uvb. If it’s a screen top just a small spot for the lamp that would be really weird but if the lamp doesn’t fit I guess you could cut the wood and buy screen to cover the new hole and use a staple gun to staple the screen to the top of the wood and then just lay the lights on top
@@ChiefSweetsUniversehey, I have a question, im bout to get a dragon and my enclosure is also made out of wood with glass doors on the front but idk where to put the heat lamp cuz if i mount it on the ceiling im scared the dragon could hurt itself, what can i do?

@ChiefSweetsUniverse looking forward to it. Your how-to care for video on them was fantastic. I'm leaning heavily towards getting one because of how hardy they are, being vegetarian makes things easy and they are cool AF. I'm going to for sure pay the extra for one thaf is CB.
@ChiefSweetsUniverse I have had big fish tanks before, but never a reptile. Ive always had an admiration for them, so this will be exciting. Would you recommend a yearling or juvenile ? I have seen the younger they are the cheaper they are, but I can imagine that could make things more complicated.
Ive been doing research for a few years now and just now getting ready to adopt a bearded dragon i want to make sure i have everything that is needed even plan to breed my own bugs. My question is what basking dome and bulb do you recommend for the dubia encloser 4x2x2. I live in mobile al so i really dont see me needing a heat emitter because my house usually stays 70 degrees even during winter. I know what uvb i need just wondering about the basking bulb and dome thanks!
hi! i have had my dragon for a few years and have always used a mat because i was told by the breeder to use them 😔 i am changing my dragons tank so im watching videos and came across your page. im wondering if i should intergrate the substrate into his tank or if its ok to just change it up one day. im afraid all he has known is the mat so i dont want to confuse him lol. thank you so much !!
I only ever add to the substrate. When they poop I just grab everything that’s around the poop and throw it away. So I eventually have to add more substrate
Is tile really that terrible for a bearded dragon? I live in a very very humid area and I’m terrified of having extra substrate mix and it going moldy in storage.
Hello! I'm going to get a beardie mid-August and I'm trying to figure out exactly what kind of UVB light for my 4x2x2 120 gallon tank. If you could tell me the exact brand and type, that would help out so much!

Hey I’m looking at a RO Vivarium - BLAC S2M - 1266 120x60x60CM First time dragon mum to be is this decent? It’s fairly huge just dunno differences in the types of tanks. From Aus
I've had mine in a 40 gallon breeder tank for 6 years, and the other which recently passed away 8 years, I may be able to afford a 90 gallon but I am not sure.
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse Been looking at Dubia tanks since this video they are around the same price as the amazon ones, there are on sale for $250, might consider one of those, I want to provide the best home I can to my bearded dragon with the money I have from Christmas.
Hi. First, I'm very sorry for my extensive comment/question. So I'm getting a dubia 120 gallon enclosure 4x2x2 and I'm wondering if there's a uvb lamp equivalent to the Arcadia 14% T5 HO 10.0 24" 24 Watt that you recommend for this enclosure. I want to mount the lamp on top of the enclosure, which as you've said before, has a mesh that decreases uvb by 30%. Unfortunately, I'm not finding the Arcadia lamp mentioned above, with a hood. I'm not sure what the specs of the hood would need to be if I buy it separately. Since Zoo Med seems to have more easily accessible lighting products anyway, I wondered if there was an equivalent which I could mount on top of the enclosure. Is there anything you'd recommend? Also, would you please guide me in choosing the correct hood for whatever bulb that may be? Thank you
For more context, I have a basking rock that sits at 8 inches tall (highest point). If the height of the enclosure itself is 2 feet (24 inches), there would be a distance of about 16 inches between the basking spot and the lamp you might suggest. So the uvb exposure to both the basking spot and to the ground of the enclosure would, of course, decrease due to the mesh top. Since the 30% decrease in UVB is an important factor to consider, would you suggest there were a change made to the basking spot height too?
I'm so sorry, but you are very knowledgeable on bearded dragons and so I do have another question if you would please lol. I have a bunch of dubia roaches that actually outgrew my younger tarantulas. At this point I think it'd be safe to say the roaches are very much on the larger side. I do have a juvenile bearded dragon, but I haven't been wanting to feed it those bigger roaches since I'm afraid their tougher exoskeleton may not be easily digestible. I haven't been able to find any information about it online and wondered if maybe you'd have an answer?
Oh no you can feed the bigger roaches to your dragon. They will chomp it up and you’ll see that dragons have very strong jaws and teeth. With a 14% you wouldn’t need to change basking height if it’s on top of mesh. A Arcadia 14% with good can be found here www.reptilebasics.com/t5-light-fixtures-kits/arcadia-prot5-uvb-kit-24-with-bulb/
I have a question. We got the zoo med brand. I have it sitting on top of enclosure. It recently went out. So I got the Arcadia bulb. The 12% one. He has stopped eating. We took him to the vet eveything checked out. Now that I saw this I’m wondering if it’s his uvb. Should I go back to the repti Sun one or whatever the other brand was. Or should I have gotten a 14% one since we have it sitting. And is it ok that it’s in the repti zoo fixture? I’m just at a loss. And really need help.
I’m making a video on uvb and placement reptizoo does block 45% of uvb so if it’s on top of screen he would need to be 7 inches away from the screen. And can’t be farther than 14 inches away with the Arcadia 12%.
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse it would not be on top of a screen. It has to glass lids that fold open and close and are removable. So I have one side off and have the basking bulb hanging. So the uvb strip would sit across the tank. I hope that makes sense
Great video, I have a question though, I don't really have room for a big 4ft enclosure but I have room for a 90x40 tank, do you think that's too small? That's centermeters better explaining is about 2.11ftx1ish ft

Thank you for all of your videos!! I am officially getting a Arcadia 14% (for a 4x2x2 terrarium) but I am wondering if the kit comes with a mount to top? The terrarium I prepared is wood and does not have a mesh top screen and I am curious if it comes with the package itself?
It does come with the stuff to mount it inside! That’s what I used to secure it to my wood as well. I did have to replace the screws it came with for some shorter ones but it still got the job done!
I know this might seem silly but I might be getting a bearded dragon, can I still watch TH-cam and play Xbox or will it be too loud and stressful. (BTW this was soooo much clearer than what I’ve found online, thank you)
Humidity is but with the heat lamps on you don’t have to worry about it too much as long as there’s no condensation on the windows every day with heat lamps on you’ll be ok.
I rescued a Beardie two weeks ago, and just today upgraded him to a 120 gallon tank with the 1/3 play sand 1/3 top soil and 1/3 peat moss mixture. I put him in his new enclosure and he instantly started eating the small stones/pebbles. I have him back in his small enclosure with paper towels now. I'm worried because his whole life (7 months) before I got him he was on reptile carpet so he doesn't know any better. Should I be worried? Any reccomendations?
That is something I notice dragons who been on carpet for there whole lives do. He will be fine though as long as you have the right heat he will just poop it out

If you have the correct lighting for your beardie, do you still have to give them calcium powder and if so, how often?
yes! for babies they get it dusted on their bugs every feeding. adults every other or second feeding. every fourth feeding they should get a multivitamin. if anyone has anything to add please feel free! hope this helped!
That’s the perfect size for their entire life
4x2x2 is the recommend size
can you use a ceramic heat ammiter
For night time heat yes for daytime you want a halogen or incandescent heat bulb
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse great thanks!
So I’m a bit lost on what to do 🥲😅
I have a 4x2x2 and I have a %12 and his uvb is on the outside of the enclosure if the basking spot is higher up it’s okay right?
Yes perfectly fine my basing spots are around 12 inches away in the 120 gallons of my enclosures
I have a T8 uvb because the pet store didn’t have T5 but it seems fine to me.
i cant get the 4x2x2 enclosure from dubia cuz i live in australia and im trying to get one but cant find anything else
There’s no other enclosures you can find online in Australia? Look up kongs I hear that’s a place you can get them in Australia
So is 4ft x 1.5ft x 2ft good for a bearded dragon??
Where can the background prints from?
Amazon or petsmart
@@FlowersAndCrystals I have some mounted on the ceiling and as long as they cant get to it like something is super close so they could jump over and grab on you will be good even then I dont think they could grab on to it cause the bulb is slippery. but yes I have those same wooden enclosures

Usually from nose to tip of tail
Love the video! Can i ask what type of plant you have planted in the enclosure at 4:53 ? It looks awesome!
Thank you yes the plant is carex grass
Is there a reason to use 24 inch uvb for all the beardies and only 36 inch for some? I’m getting a 4x2x2 Dubia tank not sure if it needs to cover 3/4 of the enclosure as I read somewhere.
Only needs to cover half the 2/3rds is old school we have gotten stronger lights now
Can I replace the basking light (not the uvb) with a heat mat ?
No you want the basking bulb.
do you have a setup video like this for uromastyx ?
Will make one very soon!
@@Dynamic_Aerial_Adventures yes I’d highly recommend CB that way it’s so super easy right out the gate they are super amazing and very active lizards
@@Dynamic_Aerial_Adventures I always go as young as possible myself but any age will be ok usually
Can you put one in an open air enclosure or does it need to be glass
you can put one in a open air enclosure for sure!
Do you think a mix a natural aquarium sand and top soil be harmful to the Dragon, if used as substrate?
Not at all
I got a 20 gallon tank. What watts lights should I use
I would start with 50 watt basking bulb to see if that will get the temps you need. Should honestly. Then an Arcadia shadedweller uvb t5.
Can you use any temp gun? I see some online for food for $10 and some made for reptiles for $20? Any difference??
No different really I use one for food called etekcity it’s $14 on amazon
Ive been doing research for a few years now and just now getting ready to adopt a bearded dragon i want to make sure i have everything that is needed even plan to breed my own bugs. My question is what basking dome and bulb do you recommend for the dubia encloser 4x2x2. I live in mobile al so i really dont see me needing a heat emitter because my house usually stays 70 degrees even during winter. I know what uvb i need just wondering about the basking bulb and dome thanks!
Would you consider a terraria thats 125cm Long and 60cm wide and 50cm high a good starter? And is denmark cold?
what live plants do you recommend for bearded dragons? also how often should you replace the substrate
Substrate every six months
Do we have to clean out the poop sooner than that?
Great Video! Thanks! Where do you actually recommend getting a good Bearded Dragon? I've heard Petco and PetSmart often have sick ones.
Pet supermarket it's where I'm getting mine
what would be a smallest enclosure size for an adult if you don't have a lot of room?
4x2x2. If you don’t have a lot of room, consider a different reptile, not a smaller tank.
@@darrenmacleod4220 ok thx
Is it OK to go ahead and put your baby bearded dragon in a 4 x 2 x 2?
Yes just make sure temps and everything is perfect before and you’ll be fine
@ question number two is it bad to get a bearded dragon from PetSmart?
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse ok thank you
At 03:54 you say “you need a UVB bulb”. I think you mean the UVB bar? Right?
Yes haha my bad
hi! i have had my dragon for a few years and have always used a mat because i was told by the breeder to use them 😔 i am changing my dragons tank so im watching videos and came across your page. im wondering if i should intergrate the substrate into his tank or if its ok to just change it up one day. im afraid all he has known is the mat so i dont want to confuse him lol. thank you so much !!
is oiibo t5 uvb bulb good for reptiles too if its 24 watts and 12.0
No you want a zoo med reptisun t5 or Arcadia 12%.
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse awesome! Thanks for the reply. I couldn't find reviews and I wanna do it right
How often do you completely change out the substrate and clean everything?
I only ever add to the substrate. When they poop I just grab everything that’s around the poop and throw it away. So I eventually have to add more substrate
What do you think about Jurassic natural bearded dragon desert substrate?
Can I use coco coir and play sand for a baby bearded dragon ?
You can I’m not a fan of coco coke myself
Where is your comment listing all the supplies you used?
In the description it’s an Amazon list
Hey! So I live in Indiana, do you recommend a 120 gallon or the 90gallon? Thanks chief!
Is tile really that terrible for a bearded dragon? I live in a very very humid area and I’m terrified of having extra substrate mix and it going moldy in storage.
Tile is fine. Yeah if you do live in a very humid area it will most likely mold in storage.
Hello! I'm going to get a beardie mid-August and I'm trying to figure out exactly what kind of UVB light for my 4x2x2 120 gallon tank. If you could tell me the exact brand and type, that would help out so much!
If you put it on top of the screen I would go 14% Arcadia t5 ho 24 inch uvb. Mounting it on the inside I would go Arcadia 12% t5 ho 24 inch or zoo med 10.0 t5 ho 24
Thanks!

48 inch tank would work for a baby but 48 ft is massive haha
I've had mine in a 40 gallon breeder tank for 6 years, and the other which recently passed away 8 years, I may be able to afford a 90 gallon but I am not sure.
On Amazon they have some 120 gallons for $250-$300. It’s not as expensive as petsmart.

Hey man, whats the name of the red background youre using in his vivarium?

@@ChiefSweetsUniverse I feel like this all started after we got the Arcadia.
I know this is off topic, but what uvb bulb would you recommend for red eared slider?
Definitely a Arcadia t5 ho 24 inch bulb but it would depend if it was on top of screen and how far away.
Those seem very close to a 40 gallon it would only be good for a baby you would need a bigger tank when he outgrows it
Can you put sand ??
Yes
Where did you get the red background??
I made it myself

Humidity is but with the heat lamps on you don’t have to worry about it too much as long as there’s no condensation on the windows every day with heat lamps on you’ll be ok.
I rescued a Beardie two weeks ago, and just today upgraded him to a 120 gallon tank with the 1/3 play sand 1/3 top soil and 1/3 peat moss mixture. That is something I notice dragons who been on carpet for there whole lives do. He will be fine though as long as you have the right heat he will just poop it out
