    IM GETTING A BEARDED DRAGON SOON!!!!😊
    I’m new to this so if I’m correct is this the requirements?!
    40 gallon tank by Zoo Med. (get the kit because it’s cheaper for the case but don’t use the shitty stuff inside, just use the case.)
    If I’m correct, mixing Australian Jurassic sand with repisoil, and extavator clay for a nice substrate.
    Get some mopani wood, 3 pieces like in the video.
    Small piece of wood like in video so backs are against top.
    No see through sides if possible: so the best solution would be the 3d background things from petsmart.
    I should hand feed my bearded dragon.
    Arcadia Pro t5 is the way to go.
    Have lights on basking side.
    Heat lamp in place of same spot as in video and the middle of the uvb light right in the same spot as video.
    Heat lamp: regular basking lamp (specifically a 100 watt)
    Don’t get “nocturnal red ones”!
    Have a temperature gun.
    Have a thermostat.
    Put thermostat probe to side like in video.

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse

      Very nice! You can also start in a 120 gallon as well no harm there also petsmart stopped selling Arcadia but they have the zoo med reptisun t5 10.0 which is great! Also if you want to use Australian sand by itself that’ll work as well

    Hiya Cheif. I got my latest bearded dragon just over a week ago. I can't recall how old they are when you get them, but yes, I got her from a big box store after losing my 2 year old. But to get to it. I have another, older one, that I think is a male (flashlight and visually, appears to be). This little one, she's 15g, so I don't know if that will help you with her age. My 2 year old, who I thought was a female exceeded 600g and my research says a female should only be about 1/2 that. I checked her when she was young, called her as a female and life went on. So I'm getting there. This 15g baby doesn't chew her food, I gave her dubias that were size appropriate and she just swallows them. When a beardie eats, you know it! Crunch crunch crunch, like potato chips! Since my 2 y.o. passed, I learned that their teeth and gums are 1 piece, not like us, where they are separate. My very 1st baby beardie had where her teeth/gums became disconnected from her jaw and I tried syringe feeding her, not knowing this. Then my 2nd that I just had mouth issues with. My question is - should I return her to the store because I have never heard of a beardie not chewing it's food? I feel like if I don't, I am just asking for trouble. Please, try not to judge me. I'm trying my best. I love my beardies, but I couldn't take the heartache again. Thank you!

    Need ADVICE!
    I don’t have zero experience with reptiles (had a ball python) but this will be my first time buying a bearded dragon. Are the lights (heat lamp & uvb) supposed to be on 24/7? Or can you turn them off at night? I live in CA (Palm Springs, the desert). During the summer my house is kept between 77-79* & during the winter we don’t run the ac at all because it gets pretty damn cold, which I like.
    I’m really concerned with the lightning because I lost my ball python due to lack of experience & bad lighting (I think). He got sick, like he got the cold & never bounced back.
    I’ve seen a bunch of different setups for bearded dragons with different people saying different things. This video seems to make the most sense to me. I just want to do it right.
    Thanks
    Any other pro tips would be greatly appreciated!

  • @Fairest_Of_All
    @Fairest_Of_All หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    Sand is the WORST thing you could put into the tank with them. If your feeding them live crickets or anything that can't be contained in their bowl, they will jump out into the sand and the bearded dragons tongue takes in sand into his/her intestines causing major blockages . I used a bag of nice dirt for bearded dragons and it's nice and cool for them for when they're not basking.

    • @KittyPaw-vj9zd
      @KittyPaw-vj9zd 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Sure but if they want sand then they can just get a reptile dish (reptile plate thingy) so that they do not escape, or maybe the animals don't try hiding in the sand? Or either the bearded dragons dont stick their tongue so long that they wont touch the sand but touch the insect, and another one can be the owners place the insect in rocky areas :3
      Btw im not an expert or professionalist so you have every right to correct me (unless ur also not a expert)

    Hey mate, sand is an issue for beardies. If they ingest it, which they normally do when eating, then it can clog them up pretty bad as their stomachs can't break it down.

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse
      @ChiefSweetsUniverse  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Understand where you’re coming from because the hobby was under the belief that sand was bad due to impaction. However we have now solved that issue and have found out through research from vets and advanced keepers that it wasn’t sand but the husbandry like uvb and temps. Sand is perfectly safe as long as your temps are ok uvb is not coil but a t5 like an Arcadia 12% or zoo med 10.0 t5. Also the beardie is receiving proper supplements like calcium and a multivitamin once Month. Most keepers are starting this way thanks to all the advanced keepers and vets pushing the updated keeping methods.

    • @callanmurphy9807
      @callanmurphy9807 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ChiefSweetsUniverse hey mate I don't know how they solved the issue, but if the repti sand can break down, then it should be good. I know here in Aus, not too many keepers use sand for this very reason. They'd try different things, and nothing really worked until they changed the substrate altogether. I've only owned a couple to nurse back to good health and released them.

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse
      @ChiefSweetsUniverse  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@callanmurphy9807 it doesn’t really break down as it just passes out when they poop but for sure if not given good uvb which in Australia may be harder to find as there’s only two reliable uvb kits on the market. Mercury vapor bulb might be the 3rd best option however this info comes from the beardie vet as well. He’s also from Australia and has been working with beardies for years

    • @callanmurphy9807
      @callanmurphy9807 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ChiefSweetsUniverse yeh thought that'd be the same scenario mate. I've never really heard about it. If they've got a big enough dish and they're now constantly ingesting, they're usually fine. Yeh, we do have a few companies that sell good uvb and heat products, though may have to be changed a bit more regularly. I found with the uvb anyway. But as I said I'd really only had a few of them to mend back to health and release.

  • @xgods9192

    Is there a limit to the amount of UVB they can receive? I have both the Solar Glo all-in-one 125 W and the ReptiSun T5 with the 10.0 tube. The Solar Glo bulb came with the Exo Terra tank, which is indeed the stupidest thing on the market -it's currently melting no matter where it's placed. I'll do my best to get a refund because I don't think having hot, melting plastic around is... safe?

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse
      @ChiefSweetsUniverse  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh yeah definitely replace that if it’s melting all plastic like that. There can be too much uvb. You usually don’t want readings over 8.0 on a solar meter as that’s high intensity to be exposed all day every day but 3.0-7.4 is the sweet spot. The mercury vapor and reptisun would produce too much.

    If I have a basking light with a dimmer, do I need to get the digital temp control? I figured I'd just use the infrared thermometer & once I got between 105-110 on the basking spot, I'm good. It seems easier to adjust the dimmer until you get the correct temp no? Also, I bought the 4x2x2 tank. 😁😁

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse
