Had my M135i for 3 years now, love it. better build quality than the Merc or the VW, just the right amount of tech, great iDrive system and wouldn't be without the heads up display either. Perfect everyday driver and hot hatch for a family of 2. Just done 2,000 miles driving round Spain, great fun and faultless.

My wife had one for a couple of years and it wasn't half as much fun as her previous
Unfortunately, the interior of the Mercedes looks like some kid won a supermarket sweep in Halfords

Sponsored by Mercedes? You keep saying 'A-class' but you don't specify which one. If you're driving the m135i, then you ought to be comparing with the A35 or A45. I've had the A200 and the 128ti in the last 18 months. The BMW far outstrips the Merc in terms of performance, but, admittedly, it doesn't have the looks 😞

Hi, we'd not jot sponsored by any OEM. This review compared the 1 series and A-class instead of any specific variant of those. It just happened to be that we filmed an M135i that day.

I tested the M135i and the 128ti in October 2021. Both rapid, but the 135i was too sanitised, too polite. The 128ti might have 40bhp less but it also weighs about 70kg less, which makes it a bundle of fun with all that power through the front wheels. Which is why I took delivery of my 128ti a month ago!

    • @motorpoint

Glad you're enjoying it! Perhaps we'll have to look at 135i vs the 128ti... 🤔

How are you finding the 128ti 10 months on? It would fit the bill for me, as it's got everything I look for in a car but worried about the ride comfort, my local dealer never have one for me to test drive, so just curious to see how you're finding it so far.

    • @andyguildford

Ten months on I still love it! Very rapid, great handling, ride comfort is fine, and I recently did a long motorway trip and got 51pmg....

@@sanmiguel4019 So incidentally I took delivery of my 128ti 10 Months ago - This car has so much wow factor, every time you drive it... Ride quality can be a bit on the rough side, but not uncomfortable by any means... Bumps and potholes can be felt to a certain degree, but I wouldn't let that deter you from this vehicle. I love the looks, and performance... If I were to complain about one thing...I wish it were rear wheel drive (I don't care about my backseat passengers....)

@@pjg7472 Thanks so much for your feedback pj, it's good to see you're enjoying the car, yes, the only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger is ride comfort, but more to do with if it's choppy or bouncy, real shame BMW didn't give the option of specifying adaptive dampers. I will test drive one soon even if I have to travel to see if it is for me, anyway, thanks again for your helpful reply.

1 series is the best current gen hatch imho. Best build quality and drives well. For the previous gen I’d say the Audi A3 was top for me

I took delivery of a 2 year old M135i and having had a previous generation 135i the refinement is here. I looked at the R golf, the A35 but true be known I don't like Mercedes interiors and this one is to be good quality for the price point. Also - the road tax is normal unlike the Golf-R. As a daily school run and energised drive home car - love it. A minor criticism if I had one? I dislike "subscription based functionality" but all round for a fun yet usable car it was a winner for me.

I'm glad I brought the M135i... 2014 model... Why down size from a 3 litre inline 6 engine to a little 2 litre inline 4? and no longer rear wheel drive? and the pre-2018 models look nicer too?

    • @BIG2hats
      @BIG2hats ปีที่แล้ว +4

Yes, those things are better on paper but in reality the new one is much much better overall and we all know owning a BMW from 2014 is always a terrible idea, good luck with the maintenance!

Cause you can use the power in any weather due to its X drive system plus the interior and the seats on the new M135i is miles better than the old F20. Grantee the 3.0L is a sweet engine but as a whole package the new car is better. I’ve had a 2015 M135i and currently own a 2022 M135i

    • @paultodd2838

Having had 2 generations of them, I prefer the newer X-drive. the old one whilst throaty noised and fun could throw you into a hedge as was too light at the back so never trusted it wholly.
