You dont have to be rich to properly clean, inspect and lube your rifle to keep it ready for duty. Combat loadout is only 7 mags about 5 minutes worth of ammo. Even the cheapest well maintained ar 15 can make it through 7 mags worth of ammo without a jam.
Yes, budget rifles work. Only tone deaf assholes will say otherwise. But expensive stuff is more expensive for a reason, which is of course, it’s nicer and fills more niche purpose rather than “it just needs to work”
@@c0rndog748 I think you laid it out perfectly. A plain jane budget rifle will do everything it needs to do. A gucci rifle will just do it with a little more finesse.
No here the thing his rifle I just a Gucci build I have a aero precision build and was under 800 dollars and ith only 3 upgrades made trigger ( rise armament 3lbs drop in ) a ( fail zero NBC BGC ) and a ( BCM H3 buffer and the BCM spring ) which only added up to 300 dollars after taxes. All other parts besides buttstock and pistol grip are aero precision parts upper lower lpk and barrel which is made by ballistic advantage and I am getting sub MOA at 100 yards and I can't make shots out to 650 and that's using a lpvo that is a budget lpvo 350 bucks so I'm into 1450 and my rifle will out preform and out shoot his Gucci build and that's with 3k rounds through my riffle

If you want to go cheap just build your own! You can source the parts from whichever mfg you trust most and you can shop for the best prices on thise components. You get to QC inspect each part before assembly and you get to torque things properly and you get that confidence of knowing that its put together correctly and if a problem does arise you likely have the skills to fix it.
This is where I started! Started with a PSA budget build (that I put together myself) - and then I felt super equipped to upgrade the parts and pieces that i felt would help me. And now I feel comfortable being able upgrade and maintain my rifle
PSA all the way! Got a 16” and a 7.5” build in 5.56. Got to learn the gun inside and out through assembly, upgraded the trigger eventually and they work great.
I bought a "budget" ar a few yrs back. And got a cheap red dot and "irons". Then zip tied my flashlight to the handguard I also taped two mags together with a cardboard spacer in the middle. Its been perfect for me since👍
I am an OLD SCHOOL Shooter that learn on Old Colt SP1 with 7LBS Triggers back in the Early 90s but I learned how to stone the trigger and hammer on an AR10/15 to make it smooth and crisp because before there were Geissele trigger Armorers used a Stone and some different springs to get a better trigger pull out of AR Rifles. I have turned Del-Ton Rifle Kits with a little work and made them Swiss Clock smooth and since Del-Ton makes solid barrels and BCG that are Mil-Spec the rifles come out much better. Now days I like to use Daniel Defense and Ballistic Advantage barrels and Aero Precision Builder kits for the Receivers and hand guards then throw a LaRue two Stage Trigger that is just as good as the Geissele trigger and save money to get better Optics and More ammo.
My $500 PSA with a FN barrel magpul furniture with a $110 Gieselle G2S or $80 Larue runs just as good as my high end rifles. It was my first. And it still rocks.
@@zack9912000 perhaps so, but I have much experience- 3Gun competition, plinking, WPS training courses- with almost exclusively PSA builds- only exceptions are Anderson stripped lowers with PSA parts, and two builds I took from a box of parts to complete using PSA and Bear Creek components- and each has multiple thousands of rounds through them, with no major issues or serious malfunctions. The only rifle I’ve ever had seize up was a factory Bushmaster from the 94 AWB era. PSA may have QC issues, but of my builds, I’ve only had one factory upper that had any serious faults with the being FSP pinned about 5 degrees off-center. YMMV, but I’ll trust my PSAs I can afford over a high-end rifle with possibly marginally better performance. PSA is the Honda Accord of ARs- maintain it and take care of it, and she’s always ready to perform as needed.
@ab5olut3zero95 I own DD, PSA, and a Windham and had no issues out of any. They get shot more than average. I go at least 8-10 times a month. I will say my PSA has the most rounds down it, and I've never had 1 issue. Thinking about a Sabre next. You be blessed brother
Wife and I have two PSAs. We shoot them once and a while. I only really own it if China comes or my city falls apart. I did a lot of higher end shooting back in the day (military speaking). I know it’s cheap, but I’m not gonna shoot the barrel out wit 10,000 rounds. I be happy just to survive the gunfight if I ever need it.
Do yourself a favor and upgrade the bcg to a bcm. It’s a true milspec bcg with the correct 158 steel bolt face. And toss that hot garbage toolcraft bcg
I am quite impressed. A good review and assessment from a quite small channel. Keep at it- You provided good information for anyone wanting to get into guns!
I highly recommend these guys. Whether I’m coming in to purchase or just stopping to see the homie Blue. They’re extremely knowledgeable. I’ve never seen a customer leave without having their questions or concerns met. Should be your go to shop if you’re in the surrounding area or even surrounding states
He used steel cased ammo not brass. Steel case ammo is dirty incredibly cheap and you can’t reload them at all. Steel cased is not recommended for Ar 15 it is mostly used for or suitable for Aks in 556 that’s where it shines
In both rifles, the way to have steel case ammunition to function reliable. You need to run a .25 cal brush in the chamber. Removal of barrel from upper is recommended or do this before installing in upper receiver. Place brush in drill and run inside chamber for 2 minutes. Then wrap the brush with scotch Brite pads torn in half , reducing thickness. Run that in chamber for 2 minutes as well soaked in Hoppes 9. Polish the feed ramps as well, install in BCG new BCM or Springco enhanced extractor springs. Repeat this 3 times a 2 min interval's. This will remove any possible micro burs from the chamber. I've done this to several ARs that had issues with steel case ammunition and after they would feel anything.
Lol all this hate on steel cased ammunition is hilarious. If you know how to check your gassing of your rifle. Gas it to run steel cased ammo correctly and it will be a little over gassed on brass milspec ammo then you have a fighting rifle to shoot all ammo.
for me my smith sport i bought years and years ago, put a magpull stock on it called it good, worked for everything i have ever needed it to do . A build is in my future always wanted to do one
Except nobody that has a Daniel Defense has the balls to toss their rifle off a bridge into a rocky riverbed like nothing, and then crap all over it when it unsurprisingly doesn't work lol.
@@bloodruststaples I wouldn't say torture it but something like what T.Rex arms did with the Aero Precision AR-10. Just a 7,500 round review and maybe changing the trigger is the only internal upgrade allowed for the mechanical upgrades.
I like this video just because I love my Gucci guns but I took one of my budget guns(m&p sport 2) and made it a sleeper. Still has the m&p receiver set but aftermarket barrel(same 16" carbine gas w/ fsp), MI handguard, sionics bcg, A5 buffer system, magpul ctr stock, Geissele lower parts and larue trigger. All that work on my wife's gun and she doesn't know the difference. I still like the way she shoots(the gun...not my wife)
I've bought and built many AR15 's. Everything from $350 to $3,200 without optic. I ALWAYS upgrade the furniture, safety, and trigger in the end on the cheaps, sometimes barrel if the cheap is not accurate enough. But other than that no difference in the end. I found that I'd rather start with a basic rifle and upgrade EXACTLY what I want, than buy Gucci.
I keep a 20 year old Bushmaster and a current production Aero on hand for when I’m running lower quality ammo as the cheaper uppers seem to do better with the cheaper ammo, accuracy and reliability.
Good video, like what you guys did to the DB15. I have the model with the 15inch free float handguard. Paid $600 for it new. Put about $400 in upgrades( 3.5lb flat face trigger, new stock, ambi safety, ambi charging handle, extended mag release some railcovers with a handstop, a red dot and some flip up sights) ran over 1000 rounds so far with zero issues.
I find it funny that the biggest issue with the high dollar rifle stemmed from using steel cased ammo. This is why I never run steel in any of my ARs. Good video guys...
If your gun can't run steelcase then it's not setup right. Lube chamber and make sure the gas port meets the minimum size. You need enough gas to run reliably. Use the buffer weight to adjust dwell time.
I like how you guys put out all the info, on the up grades. But to me this is more of a comparison of budget stock to a custom build. Custom builds will always be better then any stock or factory build.
The whispering winds of **just as goooodddddd** Training is always the best place to put your money. I have continously kept up with my buddy's that pay for high end parts and rifles with my PSA ak. Trigger work, reload practice, and stay fit. Til the real thing happens, have fun!
Have a Delton and a S&W M&P15 and a BCM and a Blackout defense MK2 and a Wilson Combat Ranger AR15 and yes functionally they're all the same, within a self defense range, I can put bullets in the same places with a $600 AR and a $2400 AR As said, most of the cost differences you're going to immediately benefit from is better interior components, better machining, which will lead to better dependability. This said the Delton has eaten everything I've thrown in it, I've upgraded the trigger to a Rise Armament, Super42 Buffer spring and H1 buffer, and put on a Midwest split rail 15" mlock handguard on it and a ambi selector switch, and it runs just as good as the Wilson or BCM. The MK2 is just phenomenal, they really made a great rifle there. But at $2200 it should be. You can build up a $600 AR for another $600 and it will challenge a BCM all day long. And you'll have an optic and sling in that where you will still be shopping for those two accessories at $1500+ for the BCM.
I’m taking a Carbine class on Sat. I’m bringing a 14.5” BCM and a 11.5” Spikes Tactical. Looking forward to seeing how they both hold up. To me, both are mid tier level.
Glad to see that db-15 have a fixed front sight base/ gas block. I can’t tell you how many db-15’s came back to the gun shop I worked at because the set screw low profile gas blocks came loose and would no longer function.
So, from what I'm hearing, unless you're in some kind of professional or competition capacity, budget is just fine. So I'm still perfectly satisfied with my PSA stuff. I've had probably a dozen AR's and AR pistols over the past several years and have had only one problem, and it was handled quickly and professionally. My next PSA purchase is a Dagger I just ordered.
I’m a buy once cry once kind of person. A budget AR to start with if you have nothing is one thing but if you have 4 budget ARs in the safe and they’re all yours then you’re just bad with money.
Went windham ill just replace parts as the money comes in already putting a moe handgaurd and replaced the a frame gas system with low profile sytsme wirt bayonet lug so i can still mount my m7. Im waiting to find a rk-1 as i like the 45 angle grip.
I own DD, PSA, Anderson, SOLGW, and a few self built custom setups. I seriously can't tell the difference with any of them. They all run and do the same thing except for perhaps optics setup.
You also fail to tell us the amount of times your psa had to be sent back for bad tolerances and the fact the Anderson is so bad you need a special spacer for it to function. Jus as guud though rofl
@zack991 Ya, and it's also not the rifles fault it took a life? Lol, jk kidding again 🤣 My original comment was satire. You don't have to take it so damn literal.
AR's were never really designed to run steel, to many issues and potential problems can come from it. If I, or you, were in a "combat situation", the last thing you want to run in an AR would be steel. Prey that circumstance never happens.
So I love this video.. but I was wondering why you wouldn’t use a comparable budget gun? Meaning why didn’t you use a DB with a free float rail as opposed to the front sight block version?
@@WeaponWorksLLC totally understand.. just wondering since it was said that the front sight post made it more uncomfortable… fully respect the decision.. just got curious.. lol
I built my $1800 rifle with a H3 heavy buffer and a gas inefficient BCG. It doesnt run weak steel very good, but I wanted it that way cause I'm going to put a Silencer on it. Shoots brass without even flinching. Cheap rifles have their place.
I run a Core 15 and have just under 2K through it. Except for a double charge round, no issues. There are junk AR’s but I feel most name brand cheaper options still run. Not old freedom group. I’ll be testing a Anderson soon, just wish I had 500 rounds to test with.
Was your geissele RCBCG phosphate or PVD coating? Geissele has had issues with failures and sticking carriers. the RCBCG is not use for the URGI because the coating is not as reliable.
Car15 stock has a slot for a sling in the back I use paracord through the slot as well as using paracord to attach the sling to the FSB I run my Gordon Carbine that way
I shot a Diamonback AR-15 that cost $450. Totally reliable and almost no recoil. Also super accurate. If you're going to go budget on any type of gun, go budget on an AR-15
Ive never had an issue with using a scope with the A2 front sight, yes i see the shadow but it doesn't interfere with the cross hairs, if you have the issue with it being in the way just get a sight riser or taller scope rings.
I've seen $2500 AR-15s explode and damn near kill the shooter. I've also seen homemade guns damn near built indestructible!! Case and point: Hi-Point 995ts carbine is basically killing all other high Dollar pistol caliber carbines!!🤔🤔🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
My opinion go with a Sons of Liberty East India Upper with an AERO ATLAS MLOK Rail, PSA either complete lower or stripped lower like I went and put in all Sons Of Liberty internals and a Sons NOX Combat Comp pinn and welded making it a 16" rifle but with all that you'll come in under a grand with a GREAT LIFETIME barrel and if you ever destroy the Sons barrel they'll replace it for free! But definitely highly recommend!
So what would you equate the stoppage to the high end build with the steel case to? A centurion barrel with a more precisely reamed 5.56 chamber vs a rougher machined mass produced barrel and chamber in the dB? Looking for just facts, I’m a huge radian fan as well as Monty Leclair (Centurion.)
Usually they aren’t gassed as violently. Cheaper ARs are overgassed so they are more likely to work. I don’t know what barrel was on the custom gun, but I think an H2 buffer would be more reliable for the build.
I have a psa witth an a2 gas block and a more expensive build with a low profile. The main difference ive found is the bcg wears faster on the psa. Pretty sure its just because its overgassed
I agree with you totally. I have 2 uppers from PSA. They go bang period. Most folks don't have 500 rounds to go shoot at once. I've been carrying this platform in some form in the USMC 1991 as a 0311. (Infantry for civilians). I have an ATI AR 15 that has maybe 1000 rounds through it total over 4 years, with 3 deer kills all 1 shot. Currently has a LPVO scope on it. the others are iron sights and or red dot. The ATI didn't even get cleaned good till over 800 rounds, just basic Maintenace/oiling. No issues even shooting steel case ammo. I carry a colt at work with the monolithic upper, it doesn't shoot any better than my PSA or ATI rifles and could buy both for what the Colt cost.
IMO, budget ARs will fulfill the purpose for like 90% of gun owners in terms of civilian purpose. Most ergonomic and comfortability issues can be trained around if they aren't just straight up failing on you.
This just proves one fact, it’s not the gun, it’s the shooter, sure that better guns have advantages, but a trained shooter/fighter with a cheap gun takes the amateur with the most expensive gear any day.
At the moment I'm writing this I have truly only made it 1:55sec in this video... But by reading two comments and hearing the budget manufacturer he's using I feel some confident in adding a little bit of knowledge to what people are going to see in this video. As long as a quote" budget AR is built by a company who uses high quality parts truly the best part at the best price they can offer the customer and they have good quality control it'll be perfect for the average person. The most important thing and looking for an AR-15 is the highest quality parts and somebody who truly knows what they're doing when building the rifle The diamondback is going to do a good to great job in this video because high-quality great parts great barrels good quality control. Diamondback at one point had to completely restructure the company and I read that it was 90 but I'm going to say they fired most of their staff because I heard and read that from multiple sources. And since that happened the company is using the highest quality parts they can offer and they make sure their quality control is Tip-Top. The only time somebody is truly going to tell a big difference from a budget AR to a high-end AR is in extreme heavy use like a competition environment. And I'm just talkin about truly out-of-the-box you don't do anything to the budget AR. It is very possible to take a diamondback 15 that costs between 550 and and $750 and whatever configuration. Someone put 7 to 800 dollars of good high-quality upgrade and it's going to run just as good and be just as durable as a $2,500 Daniel defense. And totally not ragging on Daniel defense DD is awesome but not everyone has 2 plus thousand dollars for an AR-15!. Most people can afford to buy something and then slowly add to it. But with super awesome is nowadays we don't have to put out thousands of dollars for an extremely high-quality AR-15. Aero precision was the one who manufactured most of the lowers and uppers of the highest-end AR-15 before that AR-15 revolution kicked off and everyone started making an AR. You truly cannot get a better built AR-15 than aero precision. As it is most AR-15s will out shoot the people who own them anyway. People do not take into account how much time and money it actually cost to become a very good capable shooter to even get the best out of the barrel that comes gun. Aero precision makes all their parts in house except for the barrels and they own that company as well. For anywhere between $600 and up you are getting the absolute highest quality parts that can be made for the AR-15 with aero precision and for people who know how to shoot guaranteed sub MOA accuracy even out of a $500 quote-unquote budget AR-15. At least that's what I've seen over the years of following aero precision and their progress and people's experience with them. As somebody who's been fortunate enough to get to spend years researching manufacturers and watching the philosophies and market of the semi-auto platform particularly the AR-15 here are some of the best budget manufacturers I've found that do the highest quality parts. side note on if someone not planning on spending tens of thousands of dollars on ammo or competing in competition the average person will never need to change out a barrel.
Totally forgot to put the budget high-quality low-budget manufacturers. Aero precision Diamondback Bear Creek arsenal Palmetto State army There's a few other good budget manufacture these high-quality parts but I don't know if their barrels are on average sub-moa with good mor good shooters manufacturers have. caveat that I did forget to mention triggers with high-end budget manufacturers you have to add your own drop-in competition style triggers. The high-end Turn-Key 2000 3000 + dollar ARS generally will come with high-end Matt style Triggers. 95% of AR-15 shoot the best with high-grade good ammunition. So for the best accuracy learn how to shoot well and get the best amo
Im just surprised anyone even buys a complete rifle now a days with so many options to build what you want at a more affordable price and what application you're building it for.
The expensive one was the one that jamed to the point they need to get a puch and the cheap one didn't jam then they go on to say the expensive one is better. Thats the equivalent of giving a racer that didn't finish the race the victory.
Diamondback has models with better stocks, and free float rails for very close to the same price. More than half of your complaints about it would have been gone if you would have purchased one of those models.
Agreed, we took the cheapest rifle off of the wall at the store. We didn’t buy it for this test. It just happened to be the cheapest one we had available
So i understand this is a comparison of 1 vs 1..but the cheap one won. You had a "Out of action" failure in actual combat use the Gucci user was regulated to sidearm use ..it failed. Was it all the steels faul..no its all about tolarances and id wager the criterian barrel has a tighter chamber then the DB . For 400.00 you can upgrade the DB to be in par with the Gucci. (I personally would change out the bcg for another 150.00) PDQ lever. 59.00 Ambi safety 60.00 Mlok rail. 150.00 Ambi mag. 100 00 Spend some personal labor to rework the lower to use the PDQ and improve the trigger and your 99% as good as the Gucci for for 1100.00 Iv shopped around for rifles at 1200.00 range and none have what iv listed above in that price range. Ymmv 😊
If you shoot enough with steel case, that will happen with every rifle that you have ever touched, just so happened to happen with this one this time, all that being said, I would still pick the nice rifle 100 times out of 100 thanks for watching👊
@@WeaponWorksLLC like shooting only wolf steel in a 7.62x39. That's not many rounds...and where was the failure? Doesn't add up that the only issue is it's steel... Friendly wager the chamber is tighter on one barrel over the other. It's also possible the high end build started the comparison with a dirty chamber.
You can absolutely BUILD a rifle for a grand(give or take) if you 1: do your RESEARCH! Figure out what you want ahead of time. 2: Be a smart shopper! Peruse the top parts dealers(and shows) and you can definitely find deals especially right before Christmas. I have built more rifles than I can count and always snag parts when they are on sale or target of opportunity. Yes! Steel SUCKS! Don't run it. It's not worth it. My last build was a MK12 Mod 0 replica and I spent a grand total of $1200(minus optic and not a Douglas barrel) with a 2 stage match trigger and I've run it to 600yd(match ammo) with impressive results and ZERO malfunctions. You don't have to buy what the Gucci magazines tell you is a "must have" to be happy with your rifle. Also, if you are new, find a mentor to walk you from A to B so you don't waste time and money. I've got 30yrs of education under this hat and it didn't come free or easy. Happy hunting!😎
I’m an average guy with budget builds that always wanted a high end rifle but I’m not exactly sure if it’s the rifle or just me. I’m thinking that It’s me, I need to train and practice more. Not all of us are race car drivers but many are motor sport enthusiasts.
well that depends... that first grouping tells it all. If the gucci $$$ goes to bling accessories, ambidextrous features etc., then there would hardly be any difference. But if the $$$ goes to barrel, trigger, gas tuning, suppressor/brake (JP, Larue, etc.) then in the hand of the same skilled lead slinger, the high end would demolish the budget. Semiauto stages at prs matches like plate rack at 100+ yards would show the difference immediately.
You absolutely get what you pay for, high end brands do or do a nearly 100% check on every single part used for being in proper spec and installed correctly from several people, not just one. Budget brands you are lucky if they even look at the rifle when done. I want a rifle I can trust my life too that will not fail. You never see that with budget brands. End of the day what is your life worth.
Point being that while the high end stuff is nice there are AR’s out there for less than a grand that will do the job. I’d probably be shooting towards the IWI Zion15 over the DB if I wanted an AR under a grand but as always training trumps brands
Now run 5k or so rounds and rough them both up and throw them around up real good like a combat field and that’s were the higher end will shine and the budget will break and atop functioning
So? The gun shot, the gun completed the 500 round course. Both guns had ammo issues. With that being said, we suggest the 4000 dollar gun with all the Gucci furniture. Almost like saying , don’t buy the Civic. What you really need is the Porsche for a daily driver.
First good video and comparison. So a quick search on gun deals reveals several DB ARs with better stocks and free float hand guards/rails in a comparable price point. A lot of your gripes were based on a rail free float set up vs A post set up. It's worth noting that there are options out there of matching functional quality that eliminate that issue. The rifles I have the most time behind are the M16A2/ A4 and M4/M4A1 family which has a lot of those gripes you mentioned (plus the sling and non ambi gripes). I adapted with a few cheap add ons, training, and proper use of hockey tape. You're absolutely correct in that it easier to adapt to having ambi controls (M4A1 upgrade) than it is to not having them. It a fair point but having used the non ambi for so long it feels like a heated seat level of feature vs a need to have, so very nice but I can slog on without it. My highest end I got is a BCM and I i can tell a clear difference between that and on of the lesser expensive ones. But I felt it was worth noting the level of need to have vs nice to have in the comparisons. Again, great video.
Thank you for the feedback 👊 we just took the cheapest one we had off the wall. We didn’t buy it for this test. It just so happened to be the cheapest one we had available in the store.
Assembling an awesome AR isn’t hard. Get quality receivers, a great quality barrel and BCG, handguard with a steel barrel nut (BCM or Midwest for example) and you’re off to the races.
In summary other than gimmicks the budget performed as good as the expensive one and the expensive one even had a "catastrophic failure" while the budget didn't. Now my personal opinion if you learn about the platform, who makes what and for whom and shop around you can assemble very good platforms for around $400.00 and fancy ones for $700, the optics are the same story
On a cheap rifle the law of diminishing returns applies like about anything else. You can spend a little and make it exponentially better.

You dont have to be rich to properly clean, inspect and lube your rifle to keep it ready for duty. Combat loadout is only 7 mags about 5 minutes worth of ammo. Even the cheapest well maintained ar 15 can make it through 7 mags worth of ammo without a jam.

My $500 PSA with a FN barrel magpul furniture with a $110 Gieselle G2S or $80 Larue runs just as good as my high end rifles. It was my first. And it still rocks.
I like tha way you talk, Blue. Great video gentlemen.
I have shot my DB 15 out 600 yards and scored a 588 of 600…. Love it!
Just like the PSA vs the DD! The PSA hung and did some things better
PSA is trash quality, they have major QC issues.
Thank you for watching👊👊
@@zack9912000 cool story
Keep at it- You provided good information for anyone wanting to get into guns!
this is why youre my favorite streamer; who else would you find on a video like this lol

I highly recommend these guys. Whether I’m coming in to purchase or just stopping to see the homie Blue. They’re extremely knowledgeable. I’ve never seen a customer leave without having their questions or concerns met. Should be your go to shop if you’re in the surrounding area or even surrounding states
Too kind, Thank you!
Didn't the DB rifle finish the course, while the radian needed a mortar and punch rod to carry on,,seems like the DB kept you in the fight.
He used steel cased ammo not brass. Steel case ammo is dirty incredibly cheap and you can’t reload them at all. Steel cased is not recommended for Ar 15 it is mostly used for or suitable for Aks in 556 that’s where it shines
@@Chris09978 if she can't run steel, she doesn't deserve brass
@@swegmastur614 it’s stupid argument really dumb
@@swegmastur614My rifle breaks the rims off steel. It's done it three times. Steel ammo is just bad.
@@Chris09978 both rifles were loaded with brass and steel. the DB took it like a champ.
Interesting take, thanks
This is doing too much. Just leave the steel alone.
Lol all this hate on steel cased ammunition is hilarious.
If you know how to check your gassing of your rifle. Gas it to run steel cased ammo correctly and it will be a little over gassed on brass milspec ammo then you have a fighting rifle to shoot all ammo.
@krausykraus rather be over than under and not cycle lol
for me my smith sport i bought years and years ago, put a magpull stock on it called it good, worked for everything i have ever needed it to do . A build is in my future always wanted to do one
Any gun is better than no gun, but the quality shows over time when stuff breaks.
Except nobody that has a Daniel Defense has the balls to toss their rifle off a bridge into a rocky riverbed like nothing, and then crap all over it when it unsurprisingly doesn't work lol.

The ending of the vid was priceless!!
Excellent comprehensive video comparison, but every time I walk into Weapon Works storefront I still drool looking at all those high end builds, lol
Thank you! We love the high end stuff!
Thank you!
I swear I was just waiting for him to say I know everything there is to know about the shrimp and business
I keep a 20 year old Bushmaster and a current production Aero on hand for when I’m running lower quality ammo as the cheaper uppers seem to do better with the cheaper ammo, accuracy and reliability.
That Weapon Works shirt though. Where can we get it? I’ve been meaning to check ya’ll shop out on my way to Raleigh.
Hi Christopher, we have them in store and on our website- weaponworksllc.com/wwllc-gear/
Just curious how much your red dot was after all that? I wouldn’t cheap out on an optic.
@@hairlesschewbacca4621 Actually I just went with the SIG ROMEO 5 my buddy sold to me for $80. It's held zero so far.
Thank you!
I find it funny that the biggest issue with the high dollar rifle stemmed from using steel cased ammo. This is why I never run steel in any of my ARs. Good video guys...
Agreed it’s trash👊
@@WeaponWorksLLC By the way guys, I live right outside or Raleigh. Will have to wander up your way one of these days and check out your shop.
If your gun can't run steelcase then it's not setup right.
Lube chamber and make sure the gas port meets the minimum size. You need enough gas to run reliably. Use the buffer weight to adjust dwell time.
If it can't run steel, its not worth owning..
My DDM4V7 runs steel all day 😂
I like how you guys put out all the info, on the up grades. But to me this is more of a comparison of budget stock to a custom build. Custom builds will always be better then any stock or factory build.
The whispering winds of **just as goooodddddd**
Training is always the best place to put your money. I have continously kept up with my buddy's that pay for high end parts and rifles with my PSA ak. Trigger work, reload practice, and stay fit. Til the real thing happens, have fun!
I wish you would’ve done this with a Smith & Wesson Mp sport 2
Thank you!
Have a Delton and a S&W M&P15 and a BCM and a Blackout defense MK2 and a Wilson Combat Ranger AR15 and yes functionally they're all the same, within a self defense range, I can put bullets in the same places with a $600 AR and a $2400 AR
As said, most of the cost differences you're going to immediately benefit from is better interior components, better machining, which will lead to better dependability.
You have my attention guys! Great video and great comparison.
Thank you Mike I appreciate you being here👊
Good job guys.
Thank you Brendan!
Glad to see that db-15 have a fixed front sight base/ gas block. I can’t tell you how many db-15’s came back to the gun shop I worked at because the set screw low profile gas blocks came loose and would no longer function.
The DB finished the fight! The 4K Gucci fell on its face!
Great review.
I liked the 14.5 it shoots accurate up to 250 yards the most I’ve done. Thanks for the video, and FYI you look and sound like Chris Bosh.
Appreciate the feedback. I'll take the cheap one over the catastrophic malfunction. Jk Thanks guys
Haha, thank you!!
Not the rifles fault, steel does the same thing in many ARs.

We just grabbed the cheapest rifle from the wall at the store. We didn’t buy one for this review.👊👊
Thats crazy the ejector shredded the case. Usually its other way around. Especialy 7.62. Steel acts like my rifle is over gassed.
Excellent video guys! I really like the honest comparison. and you're right, AR's are like Doritos, bet you can't have just one!

I run a Core 15 and have just under 2K through it. Except for a double charge round, no issues. There are junk AR’s but I feel most name brand cheaper options still run. Not old freedom group. I’ll be testing a Anderson soon, just wish I had 500 rounds to test with.
Missed opportunity to compare with the most popular cheap rifle ever. The m&p15 sport ii. Thanks you for the video tho
Good video. Cool new channel guys

A new bolt and barrel can make a PSA turn into a house wife lol
the only change i did to myDB15 i put a timney trigger in good to go,thanks
So what would you equate the stoppage to the high end build with the steel case to? A centurion barrel with a more precisely reamed 5.56 chamber vs a rougher machined mass produced barrel and chamber in the dB? Looking for just facts, I’m a huge radian fan as well as Monty Leclair (Centurion.)
Makes sense. AKs eat everything because they are loose as a whore. High end with tight tolerances for accuracy require top ammo
Usually they aren’t gassed as violently. Cheaper ARs are overgassed so they are more likely to work.
I don’t know what barrel was on the custom gun, but I think an H2 buffer would be more reliable for the build.
Need a range like this
I have a psa witth an a2 gas block and a more expensive build with a low profile.
The most important thing and looking for an AR-15 is the highest quality parts and somebody who truly knows what they're doing when building the rifle
The diamondback is going to do a good to great job in this video because high-quality great parts great barrels good quality control.
Aero precision
Diamondback
Bear Creek arsenal
Palmetto State army
There's a few other good budget manufacture these high-quality parts but I don't know if their barrels are on average sub-moa with good mor good shooters manufacturers have.
caveat that I did forget to mention triggers with high-end budget manufacturers you have to add your own drop-in competition style triggers.
I have two budget builds that was built on the bcg and barrel being the most expensive I don’t believe in over priced branded receivers
The reason the steel stuck in the chamber is lack of lubrication
Diamondback has models with better stocks, and free float rails for very close to the same price. More than half of your complaints about it would have been gone if you would have purchased one of those models.
Agreed, we took the cheapest rifle off of the wall at the store. We didn’t buy it for this test. It just happened to be the cheapest one we had available
@@WeaponWorksLLC Oh, I see. Still a good test overall. Just something you grabbed, versus something you built.
Most people are not going to put very many rounds through their ARs. For home defense almost any AR will do the job.
Would you say the "failure to extract" issue may be attributed to headspacing?
So i understand this is a comparison of 1 vs 1..but the cheap one won. You had a "Out of action" failure in actual combat use the Gucci user was regulated to sidearm use ..it failed. Was it all the steels faul..no its all about tolarances and id wager the criterian barrel has a tighter chamber then the DB . For 400.00 you can upgrade the DB to be in par with the Gucci. (I personally would change out the bcg for another 150.00)
PDQ lever. 59.00
Ambi safety 60.00
Mlok rail. 150.00
Ambi mag. 100 00
Spend some personal labor to rework the lower to use the PDQ and improve the trigger and your 99% as good as the Gucci for for 1100.00
Iv shopped around for rifles at 1200.00 range and none have what iv listed above in that price range.
I have a Ruger 556 and its a excellent rifle imo. Its only about a 850$ rifle if that much .
Besides its lower cost, what is steel case ammo even for when it causes so many problems?? :/
Nice video!
100%👊
Good one.
Thank you Greg!
Point being that while the high end stuff is nice there are AR’s out there for less than a grand that will do the job. I’d probably be shooting towards the IWI Zion15 over the DB if I wanted an AR under a grand but as always training trumps brands
IWI is Israeli owned. Not sure about you but I don't give e my money to those goys.
