  • Hi folks and welcome back to MCM Outdoor Show.
    In this short, instructional video - I demonstrate how I wax some of my G-1000 Fjallraven garments using Greenland Wax.
    This method works for me - and I hope you get some tips from it. The process is really simple as is not to be feared - you won't ruin your clothing. The cap is hard to do and I could have taken more time to be neater, however for the purpose of the video I rushed it.
    This can be applied to any COTTON items of clothing - do not wax synthetic garments.
    See you in the next video!

    This may be a dumb question, but are waxed jackets sticky?

      No, it's not like a Barbour where its dripping in the stuff 👍

    Also have you found certain midlayers better than others under g1000 ? Was thinking that paramos direction fleece could work quite well

    • @MCMOutdoors
      @MCMOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the fleece would be ace. I find synthetic down, like Montane means the mid layer allows breathability, coupled with the anorak as a final layer - breathability suffers slightly, but easily combated via the side zips.

    It’s really easy to make your own wax, lots of ‘how to recipes’ on here, much cheaper and just as good, I use a heat gun on low, great video 👍

    I was involved in a near fatal accident (4 days in coma). They had to cut me out of my favourite Fjallraven Keb jacket and Keb trousers. Excellent video. Waxing Fjallraven clothing is very relaxing and most important useful. 🍷🍺👍

      Bloody hell mate, glad you survived that one ! Cutting your gear too ! Nightmare mate. Glad you were ok though and yeah, I find it weirdly relaxing. ATB

    I use an ironing board. It fits inside the clothing and you can get flat jackets and trousers as a single layer, to avoid the zip/popper outlines. Thank you for the video.

      Good point mate and I have used an ironing board before - I should have said! Just didn't want a dodgy burnt daisy print in the video ! haha !

      I have the singi anorak and always found that the Greenland wax wouldn’t quite seal the jacket fully. The Nikwax cotton proofer spray does it fully. And it’s quicker!

    Hi Chris, what do you think of the tents ? I am currently contemplating the Abisko Dome 2.

      Hi David - I've never been in one - but the reviews and things I've read up about are nothing but good things. I'll have to check them out in person one day! If anything like their clothing, they will be really well made.

    Hey Chris, I don’t own anything as good as your gear but I will be certainly waxing the LK35 with that wax for sure. Hopefully next year I can concentrate on purchasing quality wearables like these, it’s what me and Charlie are both lacking in. Thanks mate for the introduction to waxing 👍

    • @MCMOutdoors
      @MCMOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You own some top gear Ant ! It's not all about the branding mate, I've just gradually built up over the years and had a bit of a splash out after some tough times. No worries re the waxing and can't wait to see your LK35 !

    • @AntSurviveTheNight
      @AntSurviveTheNight 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      MCM Outdoor Show cheers bud yeah decent wearables last longer everyone knows that and for what me and Charlie have got planned what with the bushcraft and the mountain climbs (hopefully) we’ll need gear that’s gonna last or you just keep forking out for more of the same.
      Yeah here’s hoping I get a quality LK35 tomorrow, really looking forward to packing it and seeing what I can fit in it
