i think the reason why is because uka uka is an evil mask that brings death so hes slowly draining cortex's energy when he wears him where as aku aku is a mask of life which is why crash gains invincibility with him
I really like the subtle decision in the remake in the one with N.Tropy where in the new one when he says he was sent but Uka Uka and Dr Cortex, he rolls his eyes when he mentions Cortex's name in the remakes version as to indicate Cortex's incompitence.
I love how Cortex and Uka Uka look devilish in the original game... Their voices are excelent... Of course Lang did a great job as Cortex, the same great job he did in Twinsannity. Something I liked about the remaster is the last Cortex messages... He looks like if he where having doubts about what he is doing... In the last one, when he wondered if he should rather be upset, Uka Uka looked at him and it looks like he realized Cortex is having doubts and have to interrupt him and finish himself.
Yeah, I really love the old crash. I also agree with what you said about Cortex looking like he is having doubt. I wonder how the medevil remaster will be for comparisons? Hm..
They forgot to remaster 2 Cutscenes: Aku Aku missed Crystal 1: "Crash, Coco, you forgot to bring the Crystal out of that level. Quickly, go back in and get it, Cortex's minions are searching for it as we speak" Aku Aku missed Crystal 2: "Crash, Coco, you are not listening to me. find the crystals that look, like, this, before Dr Cortex enslaves us all"
Voices I like more in the original: Aku Aku Dr. Cortex Dingodile. Voices I like about equally: Uka Uka N. Tropy (though I slightly prefer his "This TIME you've done it!" in the original) N. Gin. Voices I like more in the remaster: Coco (Yeah she's not in this video but I figured she was worth mentioning) Tiny Tiger
I have to disagree about Dingodile. his voice in the newer version suits him better because of his intimidating size, his looks, and his personality. He is a Australian pyromaniac villian. The revamped voice is what would come to my mind when I think of an Australian pyromaniac villian.
N. Gin's original voice is miles better, imo. The original chorus effect made him sound way more sinister, like a real mad scientist. The new voice just sounds like he shouldn't be allowed within 100 yards of a middle school.
Honestly both Fry and Crash are similar in some aspects, that if Fry was mutated into an anthropomorphic animal, I legit could see him turning into Crash 😆

Cortex: New Uka Uka: Old Dingodile: New N.Tropy: New (except when he says “stoopid” instead of “styupid”) N. Gin: New voice, old filter. Aku Aku: Old Tiny: New
In terms of best Voice Actors for Aku Aku in Crash Bandicoot 3, I'd say it's a tie between Mel Winkler, who voiced him in the original, and the current voice actor Greg Eagles, who was the voice of the Grim Reaper from Billy and Mandy by the way.
Well while I do love the new voice, I think the old one had a much better delivery of his lines. The line he says before his line is nuch better than how the new one went. I overall like the new one more, but I think the old one was done better.
Jackie Kog agreed. I think he did great, I was never really a fan of Clancy when cortex is a bit comedic (like in warped cutscenes or nitro kart), I always felt like he just uses a deep voice and that’s it. His only brilliant performance to me was Cortex strikes Back Lang just adds more to him, a bit of flamboyance that such a cartoony design needs in my POV. However...I don’t think his delivery in the final time cortex message worked well. That and he could have at least built up the insane liagh in the remaster of 2
Nice! Lex Lang did a great job being Mr. Krabs. (I mean Clancy Brown) Grim finally has a "Mel Winklerish" voice. Tiny is back being a wild, destructive tiger. So do N. Tropy and Dingodile. (Though Dingodile lacked the "You thrashed me, mate!" line in the NSane version.) I don't care about N. Gin much but yeah, he's good.
I liked the old sound effect for the messages starting. I actually like Uka Uka's voice in the N. Sane Trilogy. It just sounds more menacing, especially with the voice effect. Tiny also looks like and somewhat sounds like a robot on the PS1.

In other words: the new guys sound like they're reading the script for the first time, while the classic crew sounds like they've committed the lines to memory and can just deliver them as intended. I also don't care for the over-expressive animation in the new one; I think it works better that the villains are more stoic and focused. Yes, Crash Bandicoot is a cartoony series, but that doesn't mean it can't have grounded moments that serve to genuinely intimidate the player. Not everything has to be bouncy and in-your-face.
@@ForrestFox626 But there’s nothing wrong with Clancy’s performance here. He speaks in a natural, conversational tone that strikes all the right emotional chords. Lex is quite theatrical by comparison.

Personally, I like the original better, just because I do But I gotta admit, Cortex's laughs at 3:46 & 4:29 are very different. The remaster sounds like an actual villainous laugh. The original sounds like he heard a funny joke
I might get hate for this, but, I like both Cortex voices equally. The original sounded more sinister and evil, while the new voice fits some lines better, like, "Tiny was a good fellow. He hated everyone, and everything. But a good heart, nonetheless." (Lol I love that line's humor anyway). Certain parts of the game, even before the remaster came out and I played the original, just didn't seem right with that voice. But, just think about the beginning of Crash 2. This NEEDS to sound sinister: "YOU FOOL! You think I am unaware of the situation!? If we don't have any friends on the surface... we must find... an enemy..."
The echoing voices and darker background make these new versions more impressive than the old ones. Although I did like the old versions' message starting and ending sound effect.
Im not sure what makes the originals so much more intimidating. Perhaps the uncanny valley effect? The new ones are so pretty and well-animated that it actually makes them too goofy and human to be threatening, while the old ones look...rigid and off, which weirdly makes them more threatening.
N Sane Trilogy is an AMAZING game, and I mean near perfect, however you have to admit that the bosses just aren't threatening anymore, or at least not as threatening as they were in the original. There's just so much more emotion put into the old voices. Uka Uka and Tiny in particular still scare the shit out of me in the original version! The new cutscenes are good though.
Thanks, also whoever did this video, should've gave it equal volume on it, I swear my ears were booming a little with the high volume on the PS1 version
Love the New Ones but I think they are less menacing than the Original Cutscenes. Also that sound on the PS1 that’s appears when a character comes in the scene would’ve been a nice addition on the NSane Trilogy.
I don't really get why people like the newer ones, with their heads just bouncing around without reason. I guess people are just attracted to shiny new things like that
4:00 Uka Uka be like: "da fuck is going on with this man!?" Also, i see a lot of people saying that they prefer the old voice for Cortex, because the new one is more fit for joke characters (like Cortex is at Twinsanity) and the old one is more threatning, but If you look at Cortex's lines in this game, It looks like he was already tending to a joke character since then. It's just that the old voice acting isn't really good (for all of the characters btw) and It still wasn't as over the top like in Twinsanity.
Oh man, I forgot that last quote by N. Gin! xD He was my very first video game crush and tbh I still love him, even more now that he said "So, you wanna go a few rounds" followed by "We'll see who's obsolete!". Of course, anyone who can create awesome mechas is awesome in my book. :P His fight in Warped always gave me struggles, hahaha. Also, that new model...I want to touch his hair, it looks so soft.
I'm not one of those people who are passionately against remakes and reboots whether those turn out good or not, but why do I have a feeling that in a way, some of the characters, primarily Cortex, are more expressive in the original Crash Bandicoot Warped than they are in the PS4 version?
I think I saw a comment one day saying that the original had the better voices, but the remake had the better line deliveries And I still think that guy was definitely right. I do like the voices they had in the original better, while at the same time, I also prefer the more expressive deliveries in the remake. I love how Cortex sounds so eager at first and so tired near the end, that vibe was missing back in the OG. Listening to the remake version of Cortex in 3 made the main plot for Cortex in 4 so believable. With how Lex deliver his lines, it led me to believe that Cortex believes that his minions' failures still counts for just as much failures as his own, so that's why he felt really tired by the time of Crash 4. Clancy was a legend, and I still have some nostalgia bias for him, but for me, I just gotta give credits to Lex, he really sold Cortex for me
i love the sound that plays when the heads pop in in the old one

He hated everyone, and everything. But a good heart, nonetheless." (Lol I love that line's humor anyway). Certain parts of the game, even before the remaster came out and I played the original, just didn't seem right with that voice. But, just think about the beginning of Crash 2. This NEEDS to sound sinister: "YOU FOOL! You think I am unaware of the situation!? If we don't have any friends on the surface... we must find... an enemy..."
Honestly I would love it if Uka Uka has Clancy as the VA and The New one For Cortex
7:22 R.I.P Mel Winkler.
I really dig the old n gin voice
Tropy is the greatest improvement in my opinion. So much more character in his facial expressions and voice.
I'm very excited to see what they will do with the Spyro trilogy
I just hate the new cortex
To be honest, I liked the dialogue from the PS1 version better, they sounded more serious, just my opinion.
I agree. The new one looks like they're just reading from something with no serious emotions
I like the detail of uka uka being on cortex’s face when he gets mad
In the reboot, Uka Uka was looking at Cortex as he was laughing like “Bro, are you fucking serious right now?!”
The face expressions are soo WELL DONE on the remastered edition
I don't really get why people like the newer ones, with their heads just bouncing around without reason. I guess people are just attracted to shiny new things like that
4:00 I love how uka uka was all like “……. Cortex….. your not getting the message across!”
I wish Clancy Brown had returned to play Uka Uka, John DiMaggio does well enough but more often than not it sounds like he's doing an impression.
4:00 Uka Uka be like: "da fuck is going on with this man!?"
Also, i see a lot of people saying that they prefer the old voice for Cortex, because the new one is more fit for joke characters (like Cortex is at Twinsanity) and the old one is more threatning, but If you look at Cortex's lines in this game, It looks like he was already tending to a joke character since then. It's just that the old voice acting isn't really good (for all of the characters btw) and It still wasn't as over the top like in Twinsanity.
it wouldn't be bad making a Crash's intro in Smash Bros. like these time twisters messages
Oh man, I forgot that last quote by N. Gin! xD
He was my very first video game crush and tbh I still love him, even more now that he said "So, you wanna go a few rounds" followed by "We'll see who's obsolete!".
They all rocked, but the n.sane Ntropy eyerolling when mentioning Cortex was superb
09:30 This N. Tropy looks like Marty Feldman :)
I think I saw a comment one day saying that the original had the better voices, but the remake had the better line deliveries
And I still think that guy was definitely right.
Clancy was a legend, and I still have some nostalgia bias for him, but for me, I just gotta give credits to Lex, he really sold Cortex for me
Expressive = trash. It was superior in the original.
Crash just became way too silly after Naughty Dog. The voice acting in the original games was simply legendary. Underrated.
Agreed
Characters influenced by Looney Tunes are too silly? Say it ain't so!
This in particular doesn’t sound “silly”
Cortex looks like my manager at work. Tired and small.
