Thanks for Lesson. Researching Diesel vs Gasoline Flame Test ... to confirm contents of one of my fuel cans. A related story: I once helped a buddy who could not figure out why his car would not start up and run anymore. We figured out he put diesel in his gasoline tank by accident; & had to drain and refill fuel tank for the fix. ... Thanks
I have five gallons in a blue canister. Wasnt sure if I put gas in it trying to hord a little. Now I need deisel for my tractor. Thanks for info to test. Saves me trip to station.
Thanks for the video !!! I have fuel in canisters that’s I would like to test and determine whether it’s gasoline or diesel. Can you tell me what type of thermometer you have ? I already have a torch to perform the test
No prob. Just be really careful! If it's gasoline it's extremely flammable and dangerous. If it's straight gasoline you would be able to tell just by taking a tiny whiff of it. Diesel is much more mild and doesn't have as much stink to it. I assume you already know this. But it would be terrible for something to happen. Just make sure to use a very small quantity of fuel also when you doing any testing. I think I got that thermometer at Harbor Freight. But you can get them at Home Depot or pretty much anywhere
Just a follow up, I was very careful and test successful, flash point was 45 deg C. National standard for diesel flash point in Australia is 61.5 deg C. Sent a sample for lab testing to verify. At this time it looks like the engine is not a warranty claim on our business, thanks again.
Petrol in a diesel dosen't usually do any damage from my experience other than poor running. Diesel in a Petrol engine causes lot of smoke and the oil level will rise as unburnt diesel gets past the rings
obviously underrated video, it should have more views, awesome video.

This test is really designed to just see if there's a slight gasoline contamination in diesel fuel
Thumbs up 👍 good testing 😊
Awesome test
A good sensible test that's not all sissyfied.
haha my man! Well said!!! and thx for the comment!
Chris Brown is the man. This lad should be cloned and in all H.S shop classes.
Thanks for the vid, I have a diesel car with a failed engine in at work and we suspect it has petrol in the diesel, now I know how to test it 👍
Awesome! This video should help you out for sure then. Just be careful LOL.

pretty sure it can take out the high pressure pump due to the reduced lubrication.
@larstomasson9244 yea it's definitely not vitamin c for common rail haha
