Actually she has a reason. In the original description of the series it claims that Nanno goes to schools that are ranked number one in their county or nation or whatever and ruins the school or the people inside of it. In the second season it’s made aware that she had a reason for doing this, but she forgot. So sad

Not only in school, In real life beauty does get special treatment. Nanno actually teaches us to keep our speech and attitude towards others Because through words alone we are able to kill people's characters or protect and improve their character, So treat them with sincerity

Edit: I haven't finished but I forgot to mention Nano dies and then revives herself in almost every episode to teach the students a lesson and that's why every episode she has just transferred to a new school. She's immortal well in the last one she's starting to become less and less immortal if you get what I mean

I have seen season1 and Without a doubt, “Girl from Nowhere” will leave you on the edge of your seat with all of its suspense at every second. Every individual who Nanno destroys is a reminder for us to be mindful of our actions. Totally recommend.

Season 2 is already out. That one is much darker and has a subtle storyline and it will have season 3 for sure. Because in s2, the story only has begun.
I find that Ying has developed into her narcissistic form and taken her beauty as a priority before anything else. She's literally trying so hard to preserve her beauty while her heart rots with jealousy/hate. She cares so much about her external appearance that she forgot how to be a decent and caring human being. I also really liked the plot twist where Chompoo actually won, she was sweet from the start and completely harmless while Ying sabotaged other girls and backtalks about them negatively. I think Chompoo deserved the award, even if she didn't have her glow up
I think the most fascinating detail of the episode is how different the term “No one is ugly, only lazy ones “ is portrayed through Chompoo and Ying. While Ying is actively try to sabotage everyone to climb to the top, Chompoo choose to work on her body an lose weight. Although this is definitely not the core message of this episode, it is honestly such a fascinating potrayal to two types of people in achieving beauty, from motives to the way they approach it.
I really love all of the stories by Nanno. I don't know what she is, but I like to think of her as a trickster demon or spirit who is sent to punish the vain and cruel... and she enjoys her job.
she is the personification of karma while that other girl that gets her powers in season 2 is the personification of revenge if i am not mistaken.

Chompoo's only problem is being unhealthily overweight. Her features are perfect, and I don't get why the show tries to tell us her forehead is big when it's clearly really short.

i love nanno. she didn’t care about being first. instead, she helps chompoo to become the shining star. this is called touching.
love this series!!! For sure one of my all time faves of its genre. I love how we get different stories for each episode, and i really enjoy when they actually get whats coming to them. If you think about it this show is really deep. Everything that happens is because of their behavior . It the embodiment of the concept "what if our actions actually had serious consequences and you experience the same pain you inflicted on others". The amount of times Nanno was assaulted, abused, killed, and taken advantage of shows how humans can be so evil if given the chance. But we also see that she was able to help someone without having to get revenge in the episode where she was able to help TK get back in the right path because ultimately he didnt turn evil or become cruel like the rest when given the opportunity. He was just a misguided kid that needed attention. I really hope for a reunion in season 3 but it highly unlikely😭 i cant wait to see how this whole plot line with yuri will be developed too. I would love to see more recaps on the show, for example the high school reunion one was a briliant episode imo.

No because in real life there's no specific parameters for beauty. Different people defines beauty in different ways. Something beautiful to you maybe ugly for someone else or vice versa. So it's very very far from reality because there's no specific definition of beauty.

honestly, to me, the system was the one most at fault. none of the girls would feel this much of a need to adhere to such a strict idea of beauty if their school didn't encourage them to compete with one another over it in the first place. this of course does not excuse what ying did to the other students, but i cannot help but feel pity for her. ying believes that her worth as a person directly correlates with how beautiful she is. she is unable to reconcile herself with dropping to the 11th rank because doing so would either mean accepting that she has lost worth, or acknowledging that the system which she has been using to ascertain her worth is a faulty one.
Totally agree. I actually can't fault any of the girls in this school for wanting to be in the Top Ten when the Top Ten lives a good life and the others are left in misery and poverty. Ying went way too far, but honestly these girls must feel desperate.
Well that's because this is exactly what the movie us trying to show the society values someone's beauty more than their personality, qualifications and skills. And all us try to be the beautiful because all us know that beautiful people have pretty privilege or why would people want to look young forever ? Why would they perform plastic surgery? We believe that our worth as a person directly correlated with how beautiful we are . So the movie is just trying to show the nature of the society
I totally agree. Though Ying did commit some actual crimes in her ambition to be on top, it was pretty much guaranteed that someone would eventually snap like that from the very beginning by that stupid system. Nanno is interesting because she isn’t really the good guy here. She is just the agent of chaos. Sure it was nice of her to help the girl lose weight and put her up for the award, but that doesn’t really change anything the system is still I’m place and really sucks.

The oppressed are generally taught that there's only a certain number of seats at the table, so while it'd benefit them as a whole to rise up against those barring them from the table, it relies heavily on cooperation when each one would benefit individually by scheming against the other
Until my senior in school told me how she was unable to land a job as receptionist, I thought that my career was hard work and skill alone. People hired me because of my looks. Grateful to my parents and friends for keeping me grounded throughout my life.

I noticed this trend as well in Asian countries. They put alot of focus on their looks. I remember watching kpop interviews and little fun shows and they're being ranked on their looks. And with that it causes trouble with fans sending hate and threats. Mostly their own Korean people. It's sickening.

I love Girl From Nowhere, but honestly, this episode makes no sense at all. The series is interesting because Nanno, who is some sort of entity, goes to normal schools and turns things upside down - something ordinary is visited by something extraordinary. But in this episode she goes to a school that simply cannot exist in real life. A school that grades students based on their beauty is not realistic. Nanno is not realistic either, so in this episode something extraordinary is visiting something extraordinary. This would make sense if in every episode Nanno goes to a weird school like this one, but this is the only time she does this

Girl From Nowhere is definitely one of the best series I've ever watched. The acting, cinematography, the story, it will really leave your mind blown. This episode is in season 1, I really suggest to watch the season 2 of this show, it's really great!

From what I've seen and experienced during when I was in school, aside from just looks, people tend to "rate" based on how active (and so, seen) they are at activities and how easy they are to talk with.
The no.1 school beauty I've heard the male students talked about was beautiful but there were many other low-key quiet ones who were just as beautiful.
from my point of view i think quiet or shy girls are more popular among boys nd active girls are popular among girls

She was just the most visible because of her popularity plus her parents allowed her to pluck her eyebrows, diye her hair and do makeup while most of the other beauties weren't allowed to because we were kids.

Yes In one episode nano was raped and murdered by her classmates but she came back the next day so they killed her again. It was a cycle of her coming back and getting killed. This series is obviously not for under 18

This series is by far the best series I’ve ever seen ,, this is probably the least suspenseful episode which has a draw to why it’s so memorable and suspenseful ,, I highly recommend this series to anyone who is looking for one

@@LisaLee__ it depends season one doesn’t have a particular order in the storyline besides the fact you have to watch 1&2 first and BFFS last,, then season two you have to watch in order as that is when there is a storyline. @Dothe art CAT oh thanks for the heads up, I definitely binged the show, watched certain episodes twice or three times now. I adore the chaotic character that is Nano. Im so intrigued by the school system and little intricacies of Thailand Asian culture. I always laugh when a student after brutally raping or killing someone, is more worried about being expelled than going to jail 😅. It has become one of my favorite shows of the past decade. Nano is genius in this role, she's amazing. The writing is also top notch 👌. I'm anticipating the next season, I can not wait.
