  • This is the new Range Rover Sport HST, a limited edition model that introduces a new mild hybrid drivetrain. It's powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six petrol engine, that's supported by an electric supercharger and 48 volt system. output is 394bhp and 0-62mph in 6.2 seconds.
It's still as luxurious and opulent as any Range Rover, and retains the sporty flair of the Sports models, but is now 12% more efficient. The electric supercharger helps reduce turbo lag to provide better throttle response.
The cabin features plenty of space and JLR's new Touch Duo duel screen infotainment system.
This new Range Rover Sport model starts at £81,250.

Yes its a car for offroading, but would've wanted to hear more of that straight 6 getting revved to the redline as it is an all new engine that previews the future of some Jaguar sportscars...

It'll likely have slightly different characteristics in other applications. In the Range Rover it's responsive and pulls keenly to the redline. In a smaller more sporting model it'll likely be a little freer revving.

Is it at all possible for you to do an in depth review of the Diesel Range Rover Sport HST D350 MHEV. Economy figures etc etc.

Good spot! There were two RHD cars and one LHD early production model available. I thought the silver car was a more interesting specification, and I don’t mind driving LHD in the UK.

I had a chat with a design engineer about that very subject. While the specifics are TBC, this mild hybrid layout will eventually spread to other models.

Inside Lane yeh I think it’s just a matter of time, in an age where new engine and chassis costs have to be amortized across multiple brands, even sometimes outside the group, JLR wouldn’t have built this motor if it couldn’t sell it across the line up

Love the Range Rover and most of the Land Rovers, but hybrids have yet to convince me. You end up with the worst of both worlds. I'd either go petrol or full electric. When electricity is used for punctual performance increase... why not, but it's still all pretty complex

Inside Lane I can be interested in a car for purchase and still like to know how the exhaust sounds and how it accelerates. I’ve got a D4 I’m looking to replace with something newer like the RRS.

There could be a chip you can put into the car to get better mpg perhaps, I would rather have the petrol because it’s faster

I do not agree! My dream car Range Rover turned out to be a terrible nightmare after buying it 3 months ago, still at the service 4th time!!! JLR used my brand new car as a test lab to figure out what is causing the engine light turning on despite changing parts each time car ending up at the service. JLR refused refund or replacement. Horrible customer service! Unreliable car!
