Spoon can't tell you that. 2: we don't drink water in between meals or after meal (more quality). It is a lot more satisfying than drinking water straight out of the refrigerator. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that the more heat in the environment, the cooler the water is. It's never too warm or too cold. Perfect for the environment you are in at that instant. Takes a while though. A lot healthier temperature wise as well.

According to Ayurveda you should drink 40mins before having your meal. This helps flush your system. Keep water intake minimum during eating. You may drink water 1hr after having your meal, because by then digestive enzymes have mostly processed the food.
Also the West country people (for ex. Americans) used to drink a lot coke while eating which we can say a major source of Sugar. In india people used to drink water only .
Our great-grandmothers, grandmothers , mothers and aunts are one of the most dedicated people around the world. Their love and care is expressed through the food they prepare 4 times a day for the whole family. It's not regressive, fathers also try their hands at cooking sometimes and show off their skills,😂...
Just a tip : Rather drinking refrigerated ice cube water...drink water from earthen pots which takes more time to cool but the taste will be definitely better and its healthy too.
Even taking some buttermilk (chhaas or mattha) after a meal (particularly lunch ) helps. In summers we can take curd with a meal or even lassi after it.
The best thing about food in India is, it's always best to eat with your total senses... First you get good smell which enriches your appetite, then the touch and feel of food when you use your hand, and then finally the flavor and taste followed by a yummy and healthy full course meal
We have Nachos in india. *Typing while eating 'em* PS: The point about having combination of flavors at the same time is because a meal is considered complete when it has all the 5 elements and all the 6 flavors present in it ie; Sweet, salty, sour, bitter, pungent and astringent. And when someone consume food with their hands then all the 5 fingers stimulate all 5 elements in their body. ie; Earth, water, Air, Ether and fire. Yes, Indians do have a sweet tooth and eat a lot of sweets but consume way too fewer products with Concentrated sugar, like Cola, Candies etc. Eg: 330ml of Pepsi contains around 10 tsp of sugar( ~40 grams). While a cup of chai which taste almost equally sweet hardly contains 1.5 tsp sugar in it. Though things have changed massively in last 2 decades in India with advent of globalisation and fast-food culture like McDonald's and Dominos. Obesity is on a subtle rise in urban cities in india. Thing about Copper vessels is when Copper comes into contact with Oxygen(either though environmenal moisture or water) it produces Copper Oxide which is a great anti-oxidant and improves cardiovascular health and prevents osteoporosis and Cancer. Amount of Copper in 6 Avocados~ amount of copper in a meal consumed in a Copper vessel. Solo Sigue viviendo🤘
i believe the main reason cold water is avoided is cos it reduces the effectiveness of digestive enzymes. most enzymes require an optimal temperature to function with, and drinking/sipping ice cold water with your meal will reduce it. This means your body is gonna have to burn some calories to warm up the water to help the water return to human 37.2C temperature.

Turmeric does have antiseptic and anti inflammatory properties. It helps to boost immunity a lot. It is also used to treat wounds and stop the bleeding because of these benefits. And again, it is great for applying on your skin in small amounts as it helps with healing your acne and gives your skin a healthy glow. We've got tons of benifits in our spices. And most of them help with immunity. That's one of the reasons Indians don't fall sick as often as others do.

One point about the water temperature. Traditionally (as in the times when Ayurveda was created), room temperature water meant water from an earthen pot. Nowadays with the prevalence of refrigerators, lot of people have gone away from it, but many people in touch with their roots still only use them. The water from an earthen pot is the right temperature for drinking water (the heat is removed naturally through the pores of the pot, and you get river-cool water). It leaves you extremely satisfied. You should try it to understand why Ayurveda recommends that water.
You can use a clay pot or matka as a source for cold water! A great substitute for cold refrigerated water. Water from fridge may cause sore throat sometimes this is the reason why water from a clay pot is adviced in Ayurveda which is a natural source of cold water. When you store water in clay pot it sweats and makes the water inside the clay pot cool try once!! But keep changing the water from the pot for 2-3 days before you start using it so that the clay smell goes from the pot.
A couple of things you have missed regarding eating food in India are 1) fasting regularly is important. Most women fast twice a week, 2) traditional Indian eating is only two meals a day. One what one would call a brunch, and the second is what one would call an evening meal before sunset and at least 3 to 4 hrs prior to going to bed... something that would give ppl about 14 to 16 hours between the evening meal and the morning meal... but this practice is dying rapidly.... 3) everyone washes their hands before and after eating and rinses their mouth after a meal...
awesome - your observations are perfect. More importantly the Indian foods and tastes vary across india probably every 200 KMS or so. The North of India uses extensive Wheat , the South of India uses RICE and dishes from both Rice and Wheat comes in variety of shapes, sizes and colors. You must also take a look at the dishes prepared during the festivals in India. These are truly authentic and cannot be found anywhere in the world and there is quite a reason behind each one of them.
Eating by hand and leaves (of course washing it well before) will save nature (leaves are totally composable and there is no need to cut trees for cutlery like chopsticks).

@Susan Bish maybe thats y indians have drastically less divorced people than the countries where "grown people" decide and have comparatively much higher happiness index than their western neighbors. p.s:- google is just a sec away maybe u should invest some time studying how Indian marriage system actually works.
@Susan Bish you stating that you know first hand and then denying the surveys done by organizations is nothing more than a joke that's y i said u should invest in improving your knowledge before putting forth baseless arguments. The "marrying a stranger system" that you are so adamant on depicting is an alienated culture that might be practised in Remote locations but the arrange marriage that is prevalent in most of India follows completely different theme altogether. water dilutes the digestive juices and cold water brings down the temperature of digestive juices theres additional effort and toxicfication of digestion
On the subject of drinking cold water,If you live in cold place you need to drink water cooler than the surrounding temperature. The reason Indian adding hot spices is to make inside more hotter than surrounding so that outside temp. will not affect us
For a healthy life, I would like to add few points as follows, 1) We should have a fixed time table for eating. ( One day I take lunch at 12.30 p.m. next day at 3.30 p.m again next day 11.30 a.m ,... and so on, this for for dinner also, This will surely affect my body and health.) 2) We must have few local and seasonable fresh fruits in our diet. 3) Eat lots of green vegetables , green leafs etc. ( P. S. :- Indians bad habit - lots of oil in their diet which is very unhealthy. :) )
Our body needs fats as well.... the marketing strategies are so fake that they say our local edible oil from oil meals is unhealthy and not refined but the fact is it is healthy bcz it's not completely refined.....😒....so don't worry about extea oil in food just don't use it again and again .....once u used it that's it...u can't heat and eat it again that is super unhealthy 😌
Indian foods contains more oil, so if u drink cold water, the oils become hard or solid, like coconut oil in winter, so most people drink normal water, some states like Kerala use hot water while eating, Karnataka people use hot tea or coffee after means, so digestive system will work less to digest food.
I always wonder why some use cutlery to eat while some others use chopsticks and some,on the other hand, use hands to eat.Whats the anthropological explanation for that?Surely , different way of eating might have influenced the way the food is prepared. Being an Indian, just a touch with my finger tips of my right hand is enough for me to get a clear mental picture of the dish I am going to devour.Nerve endings of of my finger tips might be sending loads and loads of infos to the corresponding brain centres.I think, this facility might partly lacking if a mechanical devise is used to trasport food to our mouth. FYI,eating with left hand is a taboo in India.even the lefties make it a practice to use their right hand when it's time for eating. Left hand is to clean our posterior after we finish the call of nature. There is a clear demarcation. That might also explain why parents train their new born babies to be right handed, if they get the whiff of the natural left handedness.
The reason why u should not drink water while eating is becoz of digestion process. U have conc h2so4 inside ur stomach. When u eat the acid is breaking down food. Now what would happen if u put water in conc h2so4? It will get diluted due to which it takes more time for digestion. This is the only closest answer which i can think of

Ayurveda says you should not drink water while eating food and Even after 30mins. So that the water doesn't get mixed up with food and slowdown the digestion. That's it.
7:21 would water decreases concentration of hcl in stomach and slow down digestion ? That could be reason ig And drinking cold water actually increases ur body temperature (heat), and maintaining ur temperature is key to a healthy life Drink normal or hot water and bath in cold water is what they say
In my humble opinion, water after food is not good because it reduces body’s ability to digest. It dilutes the HCl acid that body secrete to breakdown the food in stomach. Best way is the drink water 30 minutes before eating food or just little bit of mouth is dry or after couple of hours after food. Again it depends on whether one is eating veg or non veg food. I think it really helps wait after eating non veg. Also it is prefer normal temp water because body needs energy to heat up the cold water that instead would have been used to digest food.
A South indian meal itself a ayurvedic way...first we mix rice with sambhar or curry(protiens, fibers and more) next is rasam and that's made of turmeric and good for digestion and finally we have curd and it's good for acidity
Drinking water during meals is not advised because for easy digestion certain temperature is needed which is somewhat warmer than usual ,so if u drink water suddenly, it cools down which doesn't help digestion ,so it is advised that 30-40 mins or even 1 hr before and after meals, water should be taken

My friend you can use "clay water pot " ( मिट्टी का घड़ा) for cold water in summer. Try it
I think I will
@@bjenks yes you should try it actually works
It is a lot more satisfying than drinking water straight out of the refrigerator. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that the more heat in the environment, the cooler the water is. It's never too warm or too cold. Perfect for the environment you are in at that instant. Takes a while though. A lot healthier temperature wise as well.
It actually makes water delicious, especially when ramacham is added!
@@bjenks Just beware of mosquitos laying eggs inside. It's a sweet home for them. You have to clean the pot every day before the refill otherwise you will get an itching problem.
True about the Coke, terrible for you
Whereas in our country India most of the farmers use Coke nd Pepsi as a Pesticides.. I wuld recommend you to do not ever consume this drinks

We Indians Use "Jaggery" & Other stuff For Preparing Many Of Our Sweet Deserts/dishes Which Contains way Less Calories than Consuming Sugar!!!
Oh my God you know everything about my country 😱

The best thing about food in India is, it's always best to eat with your total senses... First you get good smell which enriches your appetite, then the touch and feel of food when you use your hand, and then finally the flavor and taste followed by a yummy and healthy full course meal
Thanks for recognising and educating us Indians about the benefits of our own traditions. Much love to you!
We have Nachos in india. *Typing while eating 'em*
PS: The point about having combination of flavors at the same time is because a meal is considered complete when it has all the 5 elements and all the 6 flavors present in it ie; Sweet, salty, sour, bitter, pungent and astringent.
Thing about Copper vessels is when Copper comes into contact with Oxygen(either though environmenal moisture or water) it produces Copper Oxide which is a great anti-oxidant and improves cardiovascular health and prevents osteoporosis and Cancer.

i believe the main reason cold water is avoided is cos it reduces the effectiveness of digestive enzymes.
most enzymes require an optimal temperature to function with, and drinking/sipping ice cold water with your meal will reduce it.
This means your body is gonna have to burn some calories to warm up the water to help the water return to human 37.2C temperature.
Small correction that Ayurveda was there even before Ramayana, that means atleast 12-14000 years ago.

That's one of the reasons Indians don't fall sick as often as others do.

reason behind eating with hand:
maximum stimulation of the 5indriya-tanmatra to improves appetite and positivity of the food intake
1.eye-sight-look of the dish
2.nose-smell-aroma of the dish
3.tongue-taste-6different taste (salty, sweet, sour, pungent, bitter, astringent
4.touch-feel-different textures of the food
5.ear-sound-??? (i don't remember the explanations.. may be sound of cooking, frying or yummy sounds or comments??)

eating with hand is not easy for many non Indians... it is also an art... how to manipulate and use ur own hand as a tool.. the best engineered and design that I ever seen.. it can be used to scoop...split..tear..pinch..grab..hold..roll..etc
also one should not eat quiet hot or cold food.. should be at moderate temperature...in such way our hand can used to detect the temp.. before it hurts ur tongue..
the right temperature allows our tongue buds to identify the taste efficiently..and stimulates ..
That's a great idea!
Americans think all cold is same. Cold water from pot has different chemistry than fridge water
Clay pot add minerals in water

Though these days many Indians like myself eat while sitting in table-chair set-up but tradition way of having a meal is sitting at the floor and with hands, which is still prevalent in many places. Consuming food while sitting at floor not only beneficial for good posture but also prevents overeating. That is beneficial for digestion and prevents obesity.

@Susan Bish maybe thats y indians have drastically less divorced people than the countries where "grown people" decide and have comparatively much higher happiness index than their western neighbors.

Some prevalent site in west like okcupid are an online version of arrange marriage and by recent census west too is moving towards arrange marriage(1/3 of Americans between 2005-2020 met through these online sites).
P.s:- marrying a person of certain culture doesn't make one an expert in the same.

We later came to know that the owner had placed hidden cameras in girl's rooms and used to blackmail them. He was caught when one girl showed the courage to lodge a police complaint. Very well informed sarcasm based on a healthy dose of knowledge bro......talk about putting up an arguement.......congratulations brother.....way to go
Stainless steel was not invented by Brrush first, it was in India it was discovered first, they made swords with it. And there is an iron pillar in India that is several hundred years old, and still standing to this day with no rust. India had advanced metallurgy knowledge hundreds or thousands of years ago.

water dilutes the digestive juices and cold water brings down the temperature of digestive juices theres additional effort and toxicfication of digestion
I use both cutlery And hands for eating depending on situations 😅
On the subject of drinking cold water,If you live in cold place you need to drink water cooler than the surrounding temperature. The reason Indian adding hot spices is to make inside more hotter than surrounding so that outside temp. will not affect us
For a healthy life, I would like to add few points as follows,
1) We should have a fixed time table for eating. ( One day I take lunch at 12.30 p.m. next day at 3.30 p.m again next day 11.30 a.m ,... and so on, this for for dinner also, This will surely affect my body and health.)
2) We must have few local and seasonable fresh fruits in our diet.
3) Eat lots of green vegetables , green leafs etc.
( P. S. :- Indians bad habit - lots of oil in their diet which is very unhealthy. :) )
Thanks Pradeep, good info about the timing and local food :)
Nice video you can also make video on ancient Indian technology
Only in Western countries processed food cheaper than fresh food.
