    I remove the spark plug leads when hand turning the primary clutch. I also often just pull the plugs out as well. Easier to roll the clutch. Put a clean shop rag over the plug holes.

    Since primary clutches could explode after a few 1000 miles of wear, due to the swing weight bushings becoming worn and uneven, so that the weights swing into the clutch spider frame, some mention of this would be prudent.

      Do you have video of putting in a snow stuff rumble can? And after I put it on do I need to put on a new pipe? Good / bad opinions?

      No video of one of one however installing a can does not require any changes to the fuel system. (Carb or EFI). They essentially just change the loudness of the exhaust.
      My personal preference is not to run them. Where I ride is mostly trail riding and there's been some opposition regarding noise levels when coming in and out of towns.

    You might want to show how to measure the belt deflection. A long straight edge on top of the belt spanning between the two clutches' centers and then a metal ruler at the mid point perpendicular and apply downward pressure until the bottom section pulls up straight with no slack and measure from the straight edge to the top of the belt. The manual should give the desired deflection for the machine. Usually 1-1/4".

    Great how to maintenance video. Do you lube up your primary clutch with anything? I use a graphic spray that I bought years ago, it is great goes on wet and drys with a graphic finish left, Comet Clutch Lube is what it is called.

    • @MBTUE

      I used to use Polaris clutch lube for the pins , weights and rollers. Just a drop. On my old 88 Indy 650 it worked great. Over 9000 miles with all the original parts.Now I use 3 in one oil it's basically the same thing and can be used on all the other moving parts.Some people say not to put anything on the clutch cause it causes the dirt to stick ?

      I heard the same thing. I've never used anything on them.

    • @snowking55

      The stuff I use is a dry lubricant, it's like a graphite paint, so that no dirt or belt reside sticks to it, works pretty good.

    Belts are not directional they can go on either way. If you take the belt off to service something you should put it back on the same way, this is the reason for the arrows, or another way is be able to read the letters on the belt, just allows you to put it back on the same way if you have to remove it.

    How do u fix a stick throttle?

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could be from dirty carbs, moisture in the throttle cable or a kinked cable.

    I have trouble removing and installing belts on my 2012 IQ Shift 600. It seems like such a tight fit between the primary and body. Any tips? Thank you

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Easiest thing to do is to rotate the primary and it will essentially feed the belt past the bodywork

      Thank you, I’ve subbed because I think your channel will help me out. I might have done something I shouldn’t have… I was under the impression that my drive clutch was sticking so I sprayed some lubricant on it. Turns out the belt had become drastically worn because of spinning due to a frozen track (secondary wouldn’t budge)…Yes, I learned a few lessons here and have a new belt ready to install to fix all my problems...My question is: Should I try to remove that lube I sprayed on the clutch? will it harm it or can I leave it?

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would take some brake clean and spray down the primary and to strip off what you had removed.
      Reason being is that the primary and secondary are designed to operate with no lubrication. Because of the belt dust that will accumulate it will stick to any lubricant and gum things up.
      Once you use the brake clean, use compressed air to blow any dust from it.

    My 2016 Polaris voyager makes a klunk when it engages I only had 3 miles on it at beginning of this year 2018 I checked belt according to book 1 1/8” deflection , I had 1” you think maybe some thing sticking ? I only use it to ice fish on the lake ?

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would check to make sure that the chain on the chain case side is tensioned correctly. It sounds like the chain is loose and the sound you’re hearing is the slop between the chain and gearset

    I have a POLARIS 800 xc sp,(just rebuilt the motor & added mechanical reverse ) I changed the belts twice,my problem is after a few minutes the sled won't move ,I have to work the throttle (feathering)walking the sled finally running along side of it to get it finally moving fast enough to jump on it goes for awhile until I slow down,and its starts all over again just about smoking up the belt- I just wanted to make a point that the sled had the same exact problem before motor rebuild & adding mechanical reverse. and also it works ok when sled is up on the snowmobile crane lift.-with NO WEIGHT FROM RIDER-. I have a brand NEW belt that I regret to put on because of this PROBLEM. -HELP I NEED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM RIGHT AWAY. - Thank you -

    Brakleen is terrible on a clutch surface. I have used soapy warm water. Compressed air. Scuffing surfaces should be at a straight angle so as to grab the belt. Not circular.

    This is all wrong to clean your clutch. You need to do both clutches you need to use soap and water and you need to use air. Also when cleaning you need to inspect your clutches. There’s a lot of videos on that. Sorry for the bad review
