Hello my fellow Africans! I am from South Africa and this song pulled the world together for a short time and in the most wonderful way. I still believe we live on the most beautiful continent on earth...love to you both!
This was at #1 when I was in high school... we were making it together then... ALL of us ... we have went from make a brighter day just "you and me" to 2022 make a brighter day just "you without me" 😔 so sad ... For All Of Us Now 🇺🇸 😢 😢
Quincy Jones, the consummate producer - getting all these incredible singers in the same room and how this came together, is absolutely amazing...I OVERLOVE this song.
This 1984 recording was inspired by British bands coming together in 1983 to record "Do They Know It's Christmas?" under the name Band-Aid. A beautiful, moving song! Please check it out! Both recordings, in addition to the Live Aid concerts, raised millions of dollars for East African famine relief.
As someone who's musical taste during my childhood was largely influenced by the music of the '80's this & do they know it's Christmas by Band-Aid we're two of my absolute favorite songs .
It also inspired Farm Aid, done by country singers to help generational farms that were having a very difficult time and the banks were just taking their homes and farms. The government stood by, doing nothing, and in the end, corporate farms arose and this took a toll on the overall quality of farms and food. Small farms are trying to make a come back, but it really hurt this country in ways many didn't expect
Facts wrong: Do They Know it's Christmas? was right before Christmastime 1984. This song was the 2nd leg of the fundraising in Jan 1985 and of course Live Aid in July 1985, over 3 continents, huge festivals.
We are all here for our own unique experiences. Michael was ahead of his time in many aspects. That's what I believe. Michael was truly an enlightened soul, and he was here to teach us. Xx ❤️❤️🙏🏼❤️

Here are some facts about this song USA For Africa: -- This song and video has raised 75 million dollars since 1985 that went to Africans in need by delivering food, shelter and water to millions of Africans all throughout Africa. -- Even today in 2022 this song still earns royalty money which still goes to help African towns with the USA For Africa trucks and airplanes -- This video was recorded the same night after the Grammys Music Award Show in 1985 because all those stars were there that night for awards or to present awards -- The video shoot was from about 12am at night to after 4 am and the stars were very tired. But, they all stayed to make sure the song and video was made. -- The singers and actors that appeared on this video were some of the biggest singers of that time like Michael Jackson (his Thriller album had been out two years when this video was made). Also there was Bruce Springstein (seen at 8:41). His album from the year before in 1984 called Born In The USA was the biggest Rock album of that year and he was the number one Rock star at that time selling out stadiums all over the world. Also there was Bob Dylan (seen at 5:27). He almost never appeared in public. But, decided to do this song because he always sang songs about helping people socially. Bob was one of the first to have hit songs about social issues that were about helping others. The singer Prince was not there because he was extremely shy. So, instead Prince sent one of his singers called Sheila E who also had a hit song in the 1980s called The Glamorous Life (she is the one in the front wearing the dark glasses). Also there was the most successful Jazz singer of the last 50 years with number one hit songs like Just To Be Loved By You, Mornin, Until You Love Me and The Moonlighting Theme song. His name was Al Jarreau (seen at 2:21). Also there was Kenny Rogers. Kenny was the number one Country music singer at that time with songs like the number one hit Lady (he is the guy with the beard seen at 7:50). Other huge stars there were Billy Joel, Hall & Oates, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, James Ingram, Willie Nelson, Michael Jackson's brothers and sisters in the front row, the organizers that created this song and video Lionel Ritchie and Quincy Jones, Kenny Loggins, Tina Turner, Dionne Warwick, Huey Lewis, actors Bette Midler and Dan Aykroyd, Steve Perry, Cindy Lauper, Kim Carnes, Smokey Robinson, The Pointer Sisters, Harry Belafonte, Jeffrey Osbourne, Lindsay Buckingham, the blues legend Ray Charles. There are three white guys in the back rows that I did not recognize. If someone could respond and tell us who they are. Thanks. Overall, this group was filled with only big stars and some all time legends. The other big star not there that night was Madonna. Some say she was not invited because she had done the MTV Awards a few months earlier and did some sexual things on stage during her performance in the 1984 MTV Awards Show when she sang Like A Virgin. Others rumors are that she did not want to be there even though she was in the Grammy Awards Show held near where this USA For Africa video was filmed because she did not get along with Cindy Lauper who was in this video singing in the middle at 4:27. But, all those are rumors and we may never know why she did not attend this video because at the time Madonna was only second in fame to Michael Jackson.

A room full of people who were on top of the music world in 1985; literally everyone in there had a song/album at the top of the charts but they came together to do this. Powerful.
I was in middle school when this song came out and the message is as strong for me today as it was the. If these amazing singers can take ONE day and get together to record this song there is absolutely no reason not to help others.🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤
In the long history of music, there has never been a collection of iconic singers performing together like this. This was a one time event that cannot be duplicated again in our lifetimes, nor in lifetimes to come...This is the performance that should be put in a time capsule to be savored by those who come after us.
Watching the behind the scenes of this song there is a part in the video where it is said that all of the artists collectively said to each other we are leaving our egos at the door. I thought that was very cool.
I loved the fact that they all donated there time to do this! All in one night I believe..? It's been a while since this came out, I was a teenager! Probably thee biggest collaboration of 1st rate talent in one song that means so much!!! What a beautiful message...
So sad how many are gone now: MJ, Ray Charles, a couple of the Pointer Sisters, Kenny Rogers among others. Lovely reaction, though. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone as emotional about it as you two. Just subscribed. ❤️
This song makes great awareness for less fortunate country, just because of this song, since 2019 I donate every year €50 to at least help them a little bit.
What a powerful song, even now 38 years later. I remember when this came out and the world (at least, my known world) seemed to soften a bit. It didn't last long, but the message this song brought still lingers in the background and brings hope that we can ALL eventually come together for the betterment of everyone on this small spinning rock in the vast universe.
En difinitiva, estás voces y o personajes, debieron quedarse Jones para siempre, voces que jamás se repetirán, magníficos, gracias por su reacción me agrada muchísimo.
This is one of best reactions to this song. Your subtle facial reactions says so much. I was 16 when this song came out and even us cool kids were touched by the meaning of this song's message.
All the proceed from the sales of the record went to the wonderful nation of Africa and the sacrifice they made to come together to make the song, because all of them were musician and singing artists and had concerts, shows and interviews booked in the country, because all of them were popular in the 80's
Coming together we are stronger. Such a great collection of great performers. “All war is a symptom of man’s failure as a thinking animal.” John Steinbeck

Pray for America that we can find our unity love and peace between each other again. That people wake up to what's going on people trying to tear us apart by things that truly don't matter.
The ironic thing is that, because this song was such a hit and is so well known for people of my generation, lots of people still associate famine with Ethiopea, even though it was resolved.
Even tho we know not one another we are all family....brothers and sisters and families are supposed to take care of one another 💗. Remember as a teen when they debuted this song I got shivers and cried Everytime....even today. The unfortunate side is when governments and groups for profit intervene and try to stamp goodness out with evil ...but stay strong because GOD will see us through 🌈🕊️
The Force that will ultimately bring Peace on Earth is.. Unconditional LOVE....and whether Ur rich or poor... U can ALWAYS GIVE... U CAN ALWAYS GIVE LOVE AWAY....Amen... God Bless U!! Ur Beautiful!!.. ✌❤😎🙏🇺🇸👍👍
We were doing better back then when it came to coming together more. There were problems, for sure. No doubt about it. But we were making much more progress than previous generations. Big strides were happening. Progress was increasing. Then something arrived and began to trash that progress that was made. Millennials and zoomers. They stoked fire and told groups that other groups hated them. Resentment grew where it was lessening. It’s now going to take generations just to get back to where we were during the time of this song. It’s heartbreaking to witness when you lived during the time of great improvement. Sorry to leave a negative comment on your positive reaction video. But it’s true
Appreciated your take on this video. You must be young, yes this was a "long time ago". It was for a famine/drought in Ethiopia, I believe. The one artist that is SUPER ICONIC THAT KEEPS NOT GETTING MENTIONED HERE IS BOB DYLAN. He was our unique poet/writer of the 60s generation. It is just special to even have him here in this video.
I first heard this song when I was 15 years old. The song was written to raise money for famine in Africa. It is very powerful and transcends time. The world is getting so bad and the words of this song can help us all come together again in love and unity to be strong and fight against the evil forces both physical and spiritual. I am sending unconditional love to all who read this. I LOVE YOU ALL!!! XOXOXOXO
No autotune. No mumbling. Real talent. Real vocals. Solid lyrics!!!!

I was in middle school when this song came out and the message is as strong for me today as it was the. If these amazing singers can take ONE day and get together to record this song there is absolutely no reason not to help others.🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤
This was the biggest selling single in history. All the way up until Whitneys I will always love you
In the long history of music, there has never been a collection of iconic singers performing together like this.
Written by michael jackson and Leonel richie
I loved the fact that they all donated there time to do this! All in one night I believe..? It's been a while since this came out, I was a teenager! Probably thee biggest collaboration of 1st rate talent in one song that means so much!!! What a beautiful message...
So sad how many are gone now: MJ, Ray Charles, a couple of the Pointer Sisters, Kenny Rogers among others. Lovely reaction, though. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone as emotional about it as you two. Just subscribed. ❤️
People always overlook James Ingram... He got some pipes!
What a lovely song. I especially like it when Stevie Wonder and Bruce Springsteen "chitchat" (and Dionne Warwick I just love her voice. ♥).
This song makes great awareness for less fortunate country, just because of this song, since 2019 I donate every year €50 to at least help them a little bit.
Amazingly beautifull Song that People should heed and remember each Year ! Nice heartfelt reactions.
Africa is the cradle of the entire human race...love for Africa from Pennsylvania USA
As a young kid in school we learned this song, and I play this song all the time on any jukebox I find 🌍🌎🌏🌐
Dedicate this beautiful song to tWitch Boss on 12/15/22. Never will forget this beautiful man, ever!! We All Love You!! You Are The World....
En difinitiva, estás voces y o personajes, debieron quedarse Jones para siempre, voces que jamás se repetirán, magníficos, gracias por su reacción me agrada muchísimo.
❤THEY ALL WENT FROM GRAMMY AWARDS TO RECORD THIS FOR AFRICA..
This is one of best reactions to this song. Your subtle facial reactions says so much. I was 16 when this song came out and even us cool kids were touched by the meaning of this song's message.
love your reaction! Greetins from germany 🌻
All the proceed from the sales of the record went to the wonderful nation of Africa and the sacrifice they made to come together to make the song, because all of them were musician and singing artists and had concerts, shows and interviews booked in the country, because all of them were popular in the 80's
Every time a harmony comes up the chap here smiles.. He loves his music
Girl watching the video is insanely beautiful
All people usually want to help, but often are not sure what exacy they can do and this gave people ideas on what to do ❤
Coming together we are stronger. Such a great collection of great performers.
“All war is a symptom of man’s failure as a thinking animal.” John Steinbeck
Questa canzone è entrata nella storia , talenti uniti x uno scopo un valore , SEMPRE BELLISSIMO ascoltarla, vedere il video una lacrima scende x chi non c'è più, ultima la GRANDE TINA 😢
Pray for America that we can find our unity love and peace between each other again. That people wake up to what's going on people trying to tear us apart by things that truly don't matter.
The wonderful 80s. I'm grateful to be there
This song is timeless...
The ironic thing is that, because this song was such a hit and is so well known for people of my generation, lots of people still associate famine with Ethiopea, even though it was resolved.
I love this song. Thank you Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie
Even tho we know not one another we are all family....brothers and sisters and families are supposed to take care of one another 💗. Remember as a teen when they debuted this song I got shivers and cried Everytime....even today. The unfortunate side is when governments and groups for profit intervene and try to stamp goodness out with evil ...but stay strong because GOD will see us through 🌈🕊️
I fell in love with you guys dialogue. This was a beautiful time. We need this back more than ever. 🥰❤️🙏🏼
All of them still live singer I wonder look back they happy they did this .
✌❤😎🙏🇺🇸👍👍
Beautiful reaction! THE WORLD WOULD BE A better place if we ALL would work together!!
We need a unity song in 2022 The way you some is so beautiful and kind... Much love and friendship from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania ❤️
This amazing 💯
I love the look on the faces of these two people. So hopeful and loving. Wonderful!! We are the world 🌎 ♥
I first heard this song when I was 15 years old. XOXOXOXO
More mj please
