- EPISODE #112
I'm out on a mission to tick something off the bucket list... I'm attempting to cycling from one side of the country to the other. It's a 200 mile (322km) journey from the east coast to the west of the UK. I've been wanting to do this for a very long time and after missing a recent event called "chase the sun" I decided that there's no time like the present.
But as per usual things didn't quite go to plan, can I push through and make it to the finish line. Place your bets.

Strong ride Thomas 💪 happy to get going again provided there’s no more TH-cam challenges 😂 although I’d love to see you take those watts into a Crit race. That would make a good TH-cam video!
Y’all get together. Enjoy both your channels. Thanks for all you do.
Chapeau! I managed a 200 miler last year with some mates and it nearly killed me! We started at 4:30am and finished about 9pm. I got home and was physically sick. Promised myself never again. 😅
Oh dear sounds fun! 🤣🙈
Ah the lows and then the highs and the lows again! The boy pulled through 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 well done Tom! It was a lesson on why you should endure! Lots of points you could have chucked it but you seen it through 💪🏻🔥
That is some undertaking Thomas, especially all on your own with no headphones and starting at 9am foregoing at least 3 hours of daylight 😂
I imagine there were a few dark moments but well done for getting it done 👏
Yeah I definitely had to dig deep in that one! 🙏
@@TheCyclingTattooist Kudos to you, I imagine also feeling a sense of 'accountability' to your YT audience and wanting to make an interesting video also acts as an incentive push on through!
Yeah a little… but ultimately I push through to prove to myself. 👍
Back to the old school vedios we love nice and simple
😉
I stopped at the Carpenter's Arms on CTS too. Great BLT for lunch 😊 @10:01
Congratulations on ticking that off your list Thomas! I completed Seattle To Portland as my first 200mi ride recently, the sense of accomplishment of a big effort like that for the first time really is great :-)
Great effort Thomas - inspiring others as usual..
I've done the C2C Whitehaven to Tynemouth in a day before, and I've also done the same route there and back so C2C2C in
Love the content..watching from Accident & Emergency after snapping my wrist coming off the bike!
I can't believe you did it and finished in the dark and with a puncture , amazing 😊.
😁🙏
What an epic adventure... This is why we ride
Brilliant Thomas, before my Op was crashing out the miles but struggling at present
Thanks for keeping it real 👍
Great video buddy, try the USWE 1.5 liter hydration pack if your struggling to fit water bottles on the new bike, that’s what I did ind find it fantastic
Brilliant Thomas 👏 inspiring video, well done
Did 144miles yesterday, a Ginster Cornish pasty and a bag of haribo saved my ride 😂 great effort solo 👍
Amazing achievement and to do so on your jack jones and no headphones 👊💪👏
Thanks Thomas...growing the legend
Amazing ride! You rock
Thanks for bringing us along for the ride Tom. So nice to see the grand sweep of the English countryside through your eyes and camera lens. For someone who was born and spent my first seven years there, but been away most of the 40+ years since, it means a lot.
This channel never disappoints! 👊💪
🙏🙏🙏
You’re Awesome, thank you for sharing😊
🥰🙏
Great video and well done
Fair play, T. Smashed it bro. Yet another inspirational vid - respect. 🤙🏼
🙏🙏🙏
@@TheCyclingTattooist ❤️
Well done Thomas. A huge inspiration for those big challenges😀
🙏🙏🙏
Kudos, some ride that Thomas!!!!
ah man that puncture at the end was harsh, great acheviment bro. Hope I can do the ride one day! Great content brother!
Great ride and true show of pure determination to get it done. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great video. Awesome effort
P.S. love the colour of the knicks
Yep. Nice work. ❤
🙏
well done Thomas Chapeau!! great effort if anyone was going to do it it would be you 👏👏
Thank you! 😁🙏
Great kit!!
Love the content buddy. Come check out Dartmoor sometime, I reckon you'd love it down here - were very lucky to have some really scenic routes.
Power to ya mate!
Hey dude 👍one of your best vlogs ever 🚵♀️🚵♀️🚵♀️congrats from Quebec 🎉
Awww thanks! 🥰
Great ride me and my mates did something like that, ever thought of an audax, come to the north (lake district, Yorkshire or Lancashire) for some serious climbs, i just did the tan hill audax and it was tough with the 4000m .
sat by the sign that says "would you like assistance " 🤣🤣🤣
Can’t write it… 🤣👍
On the list for a couple of years now. Training for it 2024
Did Morcombe to Whitby one year. Great ride. Some demons but made it. Great episode well done.
Dude, that was mental... would've been nice to see Cheddar Gorge though ;)
🤣🤣🤣
Incredible Achievement Thomas! wow! what a journey with the body and soul.... I first noticed it on strava before the vid..Chapeau 🎩 👏👏👏👏👏
Can carry a bottle in the jersey pocket, even if just a bottle of Lucuzade . Nice one
Already had shit loads of other stuff in there… plus I’ve tried that before and it’s bloody uncomfortable! 👍
@@TheCyclingTattooist Ah fair play. Yes it’s not nice with an actual bottle but you can kinda get away with a plastic one use. My furthest is 71 miles so what do I know! 😂😂No way I’d be changing that puncture either, mind and body gone, on the rim to the line! 🏁🤟🏻🤟🏻
Great event, really enjoyed it this year. Nice video
Well done! 😁👍
Absolutely loved that video, it’s incredible how your mind tells you that you can’t do it but you can. Your content is unreal, keep up the great work 👊
Yeah it pretty incredible what the body can do… 😁🙌
Great effort Thomas. Good pace on your own over 11hrs.
Thanks 👍
Well done, tough ride that and that was still a decent average speed!
Great ride Thomas..a hard ride .. me and some friends we dit also a similar ride here in the Netherlands .Around a lake Ijsselmeer . We had a strong headwind. I was just 1k more than you, THNX for the great vids.
Bib shorts are a vibe 🤪
Awesome ride…well done for sticking at it 💪👊
strong ride! What a coincidence, I just came bak from a 200 mile ride in the Netherlands (only 800m elevation!) but it was more like 195 miles because I got picked up when it got dark haha. I know what you're feeling!! great ride!
Well Done! Running late 😂 I know how that feels. Great positive attitude, you know how to suffer 👍💪
Good ride Tom….i’ve been waiting for you to enter a crit race…you did threaten to start doing them last year….let’s goooo 💪🤙
Smashed it mate💪
Awesome effort!
Well done mate well done 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼ride safe idol
Epic mate well done!
🙏
Awesome work, well done 👌
Thanks a lot 😊
Cool ride bikes t-shirt.
Considering you said you wanted to do it in 11 hours I think 11.44 was still very good going considering all the ups and downs of the day you had Tom 👏
Chapeau Thomas
Kudos dude that looked super tough! Great content as always too 👌 Love it!
Awesome vlog! Thanks
Thank you! 🙏
Tom when you do rides like this how to you get back home after the rides ? Do you get someone to collect you or do you find your own way back ?
The ole petrol station buffet 😂
🙌🙌🙌
Bloody epic mate !! Love your videos 👌
🙏🙏🙏
Great ride, excellent video 👍 Bike sizing is an obsession of mine, just wondering what frame size you have and how tall are you ?
Amazing achievement and another great video 😊
Thankyou! 🙏
Hey there just had a blazing thought. The introduction shows you riding your previous bike. Will you be updating the introduction with the new Trek? Love your content. 🎉
Yep that’s the plan… haven’t got around to it! 👍
I've just got a late entry to CTS 24 South and the following day I'll be doing the 100 mile Dragon Ride in Wales....beginning to think this was a bad idea! 😬
You sir are a mad man… 🤣 good luck!
Love your vids men
🙏🙏🙏
For big rides you can get a double water bottle holder sits on the back of saddle 👌👍
Plus on a lighter note arriving to Weston suoer mud in the dark probably a good thing😂😂nothing to see there
Oh yeah it’s a shit hole aye… 🤣 thought I was going to get robbed on my way back from collecting my pizza that night. 🙈
@@TheCyclingTattooist 😂😂😂😂😂yeah I’m free Bristol so know that place well.
The coast on the south west starts when the sea turns blue just pad mine head 👌👍😂
Are your not super human then lol great vid very inspiring loved it!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Absolute legend! Love your vids and the sense of adventure that you get across. Also I was thinking about your bottle/top tube situation. I use a brand that has a magnetic bottle connection, so you twist the bottle to get it out rather than pull it up. Might work? Or they even have a different system where you can attach it anywhere on your bike. So maybe the seat post for you? They're called fidlock. There are probably similar alternatives.
Thank you! 🙏 and yeah if I do something like that again, I’ll figure it out, just didn’t have time for this one as it was spontaneous! 😁👍
Beast!!
🙏
How are you liking the Trek? Does it do all you need, and how does it compare to you other bike?
Legend!!!! Well done ❤️💪🏼💪🏼
Thank you mate… shame I missed you! ❤️
Epic!
Thanks guys! ❤️
Hi Thomas, great video as per and live the content and this adventure on a whim. But how did you carry clothes for the return trip? Trainers, T-shirt etc? Looked like your frame bags wouldn't fit any of that.
Yeah I took a full change of clothes including trainers that I stuffed in the frame bag… top bag was full of Styrkr sachets! 👍
@@TheCyclingTattooist ledge. Love ya x
11:21 'Would you like assistance?' 😅
I know right… 🤣 I almost used that as the thumbnail! 🤣👍
Reminds me of that Top Gear episode that Jeremy did against the sun to beat it before it rises.
Fantastic ride…..do it in June 24 for the daylight?
I mean I would have been fine if my poxy Garmin didn’t delay me by 2 hours… 🙈🤣
Do you have a strava account? Just found your account and really like your content 😎👊🏻
funny fact, Texas is 1000 miles wide. LONG form video, great ride!
Random question, what front light do you use when you TTT at night,
Do you just leave your bike unlocked when going in the shops and stuff?
Legend
Great video Tom. I have a question.
How did you do the ‘logistics’ for this? You stayed in a hotel when done but at the end on the train back you have a t-shirt on, did you carry a change if clothes and shoes on the bike? Couldn’t see how you carried shoes?🤷🏻♂️
Yeah the frame bag had a full change of clothes in it, including shoes! 😁👍
Well done dude awesome mental strength can I borrow some ? Just a little bit plus be nice to get some ink from you
🤣🙌
Respect 💪my longest ride is 100 Km
Great vid
Question to you long term cyclist…
I’ve just taken up cycling and got the bug for it, I’ve got some padded shirts…will they be a long term necessity or does the pain just eventually go after a while and you get used to it?
Cheers!
Great effort, hoping you get a front light sponsor though lol i couldn't see shit
Well in top lad!!!! What size of bike is that?
It’s a 50! 😁👍
They don't sell pickles in your petrol stations?
What do you do with your bike when you go into petrol stations mate? Always want to stop off myself when I’m in need but worried it’ll get pinched..
Just put it by the door so you can see it… or put it in a precarious hard to pinch manner. Also cross all your fingers and toes. 😁👍
Oh and put it in the hardest gear… or better still drop the chain off the chainring…
Nice one mate 😳 Why not a hydropak or a bottle in a back pocket
Don’t have a hydropack and the old bottle in the back is so uncomfortable…
@@TheCyclingTattooist mate I luv all the content it rips 🤙 But the 6 p’s Evoq and uswe have great packs to have a look at 👍 Full gas mate
Have you ever tried riding fasted ( no food ) 👍
Yes a couple of times (unintentionally)… I don’t like it!
How much damage did you do to your carbon rim at the end ?😱
None actually! 😁👍
@@TheCyclingTattooist That’s impressive .👍🏻
Back here after just getting a late entry to CTS 24😂😂😂
So Thomas you wouldn’t fancy 7x 200 mile rides back to back - The Pan Celtic Race
Oh I’d have a go… that’s been on the list for a while actually!
I’ve also done some more nutty things in the past. 24 hours ride, Everesting and LEJOG in 5 days to name a few.
Top effort on the C2C 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 it’s a long day in the saddle
I have a question, what kind of helmet and sunglasses do you wear? by bike.
Poc ventral air helmet… and maap x 100% hypercrafts! 😁👍
Thank you!@@TheCyclingTattooist 😃
I played this video with my hamster, and now he's a wild boar 😅
