    All things considered, Tyler Rake's recovery is more believable than John Wick's. Nobody falls several stories the way Wick did without getting his back broken.
    Also, Rake's recovery period was over several months from the time he was rescued so maybe the cast/brace was just there for some support.

    Tyler Rake is from Australia. He is a former Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) operator turned mercenary who often specialized in extraction operations and assassinations.
    He was married to Mia and had a child. While he was away on one of his tours in the military, Rake lost his son to lymphoma. The loss caused a schism between him and Mia, which eventually led to their divorce.
    Tyler Rake is seen using a custom-made rifle that mainly resembles a Daniel Defense M4V7S with an EOTech EXPS-3, G33 magnifier, AN-PEQ 15 laser module, Modlite weaponlight, BCM Gunfighter vertical grip, a suppressor with a cloth cover, and a Magpul SL stock.

    Rake is supposed to be a former Australian SASR Operator, the neck tattoo etc are the same type of tats that some SF guys get when serving in an ODA. A friend from the Regiment told me some guys get trident tats who served on the dive troop or Cadre, so maybe that's where it came from. Unfortunately, they didn't use any former SASR guys as tech advisors, just stunt men, in fact the Director is a former stunt man and stunt coordinator. If they'd have used SASR advisors I'm pretty sure he'd have been equipped with a suppressed MP5 for a Prison infil and extraction.

    I respect the approach. That was wrong length for confined space and a sling seemed to be intentional for easily using as bludgeoning tool. I will say I appreciate hearing some critiques but movies like this, Rambo, John wick and the like are just like Star Wars or superhero movies just with real settings. These people are basically superheroes and the villains are storm troopers. I would like some of the details you mention being checked off and blend those with shots like the 20 plus minute oner.

Obviously this movie is ridiculous and over the top, a lot like John Wick, but it’s still interesting to hear about the tactics (or lack thereof) nonetheless. Your review was great for the scenes you covered, but you skipped a bunch of the action sequences. Guys, please take a look at "One Shot" with Scott Adkins, it's more of a small b-movie, but there's some good stuff in there.
    For realism, I guess, if memory serves right, there were 1 or 2 SEALS involved, probably ex-SEALS, as advisors, and that's probably why this feels pretty grounded & kinda believable.
    Could be worse. Believe me, I was surprised about the quality, as in this not just total BS in about every way whatsoever.

    Hi guys, re the mag dumping pistol rounds into the body armour (English spelling). I think this is the same thing they adressed successfully in John Wick 2 - you get VERY used to shooting center-mass (biggest target, lots of vulnerabilities) and it's hard to cancel that muscle memory even when the target is protected. John fails to kill armoured guys until he switches his tactics and jams the muzzle into gaps in the armour. Rake could try for face shots (even armoured, that's going to be like being hit with a hammer) or jam the muzzle into a thigh and try to blow out an artery.

    I still don’t get why they made hemsworth carry a 16 inch DD with a can and a 3x. I guess they didn’t get their SBR paperwork ready to run a 10.3 or 11.5 lol
    The siblings did run mk18s without cans, they could’ve used the same for him. But I guess they wanted a typical rifle length for his size. He ended up using the rifle as a bat more than a gun though 😂

    • @LaCheeserie
      @LaCheeserie ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, these would make great consultants on movies like this. I thought the industry was trying to go for slightly more authentic. I will say they would make crap story writers because they would insist on too much realism, leave that to the stunt people like the ones who did this, but bring in those with knowledge to make tool choices and other gear, along with gun handling effects and tactics.

    • @gob7116
      @gob7116 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LaCheeserie I think the movie was trying to show more builds that resembled civilian builds that the audience would be familiar with. The BCM from the first movie comes to mind. SBRs aren’t as prevalent because people don’t want to mess with the tax so they’d rather use full length rifles and decking it out with decent stuff for the “realism”.

    • @LaCheeserie
      @LaCheeserie ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gob7116 that is true, but Ar pistols *cough, cough* with a brace would do the trick. But a magnifier was an odd choice, if it was even thought through, once out of the prison could be need for it in the escape. 11.5 can even add a can and be reasonable length. Then there are people that will say, 16 can get job done close quarters.

    • @gob7116
      @gob7116 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LaCheeserie Yep, though maybe the production crew wasn't as ballsy.
      Eitherway, a common viewer would see a pistol brace and may think it looks odd compared to the typical Magpul and B5 stocks. Kinda removes the aesthetic and this movie seems to put an emphasis on it.
      11.5 with a can, even 12.5 with a can can be just about the length of a 16 with a medium sized can, even less with a K can. I'd say 13.7/13.9 and even 14.5 with a K can or the newer KAC shorty can would be similar to where its likely less than 18. Guys were doing CQB with 20 inchers back in the day so it is doable, just not conducive. But given the environment he's in, 12.5 would be more than enough. Heck 10.3 should be enough as I didn't see any length more than 200y (I think this would be the furthers possible distance in the courtyard angled up top to the watch tower at the opposite end)
      Optic selection, I'd say is the least horrendous sin though. A magnifier may come in handy for P-ID, although at 200-300y it's not necessary to make hits but may be helpful for ID. It'd then be just added weight, more so when it's QD and he's got a pack with him too. I'd even say it'd be more forgivable if he was rocking a 1-6 lpvo even on an SBR. Some don't like the concept of a mini recce rifle but GPR's with shorter barrels and LPVOs make a lot of sense, especially if the optic and mount could weigh less than 20oz. More capability for the same weight when that magnifier is attached.

    I have had many friends over the years who have seen action as soldiers and cops. For those who have been wounded, it's not like in the movies. A single bullet wound can take years to heal and in many cases, full recovery never. Happens. Despite how hard they work on rehabilitation. In some cases, they never become active duty again due to their injury. This can be a hard turn to work through mentally as many who serve as soldiers and/or cops NEED to serve. It's like in their DNA. The trick is to get them interested in serving in another capacity. Sometimes this is helping other's get through their injuries, physical and otherwise. Sometimes it's in some other role. But yeah, getting shot is not like in the movies.

    11.5 is fine lol. Even with it suppressed. Is he not going from inside to outside? When he extractw the kids And mother. The point is to get out. Not stay inside (extract). Think he might need something to PID a target. The covenant. Kinda sucked.

    Imo, this was a really poor follow up to a great original. The action scenes in the first one were realistic and gritty, the scenes in this one felt like Call of Duty single player missions. The fx jump cuts during the prison fight scene, the dumb train scene, and the use of "Juggernaut" armors all just took me out of the movie, I was bored watching this!

    Haven't gotten this far in the video yet, but one of the worst parts of the movie is when dude chases the kid and leaves the team. You would never chase down someone you're trying to protect if they are trying to escape, putting your whole op and team in danger. Really stupid. Oh and also when Hemsworth doesn't finish off the main bad guy and just runs off. It's like watching a horror movie and knowing the hottie is going to die hahaha. So many huge plot holes in this movie.

    25:50 It’s implied that Rake is from the SAS Regiment, Australian special forces, because the character is Australian and when he shows up shirtless you can see the symbol. I don’t know what the three arrows tattoo are supposed to mean though, I guess it may be just an Aussie redneck tattoo I guess.

    Ngl you guys are reacting to clips or something bruh did you watch the movie? why do you skip a whole part in between a no cut scene and ask why is his gun gone and not even mention how he ran out of ammo and used it as a weapon, and it the same scene you can see him getting ganged up on a pills out his handgun because the m4 would not be preferred. Btw he had a sling on his auto the whole time why do you keep saying he has no sling on his gun. The action scenes are great but some stuff is wonky yea but you give them no justice, I only caught a couple faults

    If I wanted extreme accuracy and detail, Id watch a documentary. Going into a movie with high expectations for realism just ruins the whole experiance. Its hollywood, shit has to be overly dramatic so it makes money. You wont find a single action movie in movie making history that is spot on accurate in detail, if they did tryto make a movie like that (sorry to say) it would absolutely suck ass 😂.

    Love the movie, so well done! Great and funny reaction! The camerawork and action shots are so cool, crazy stuff man. The small things you spotted were funny. 👌
    You talked about IED and EOD, I still recommend the (biographical drama film) "Megan Leavey" about a female US marine k9 handler in Iraq. You don't need to do a beers and breakdowns for it, because it isn't a full action movie, even though there are some interesting scenes! But as a veteran it is worth watching for the actual story. (coming from a no military background EU civ) Would like to hear your thoughts about it. 👀😊

    The setting in this one felt bland and lifeless. There wasn't a single civilian to be seen during the scenes in the city so it felt pretty fake.

    Great video as always, i love your story times! that pressure plate thing was wild af good thing got there sooner rather then later. definitely would have shook me up knowing that they were setting a trap and i caught it in progress. also just for my own curiosity because im ignorant. were bar fights/potential bar fights like a common thing in SF or this one of occasions? I thought there would be serious repercussions for getting into one, especially as SF cause higher standard, if caught so im guessing its one of those. don't get caught things?

    When I was watching it, I thought Rake's character was being a bro and did not want to needlessly murder prisoners until push came to shove. Before he lost the rifle, he emptied the whole clip trying to gain some space. Prisoners can't fire a rifle that's Winchester.
