I think this He-Man shouldn't have used so much bronzer on just his face.
Mine is not like that at all, its the first one that i see with a dark face like that!

As far as the vintage He-man head, I thought the same thing..."oh I'm gonna display it this way for sure" but then..it looks like a guy with a He-man mask on lol.

Yeah, I'm wonder if it's exaggerated by the camera because Dan doesn't usually miss or ignore details and it's not like he didn't have any critciisms.
Mine is not like that at all, my figure's face has the exact same color as the rest of the figure. Its actually the first figure that i see like that, Dan has been very unlucky imo
Pop him apart at the torso (its just a ball peg) and you can slip the skirt right off. The paint on the face looks odd, though, unless its just the lighting at play. Yours looks sun burned almost, mine is far more consistent with the overall body skin tone.
He hasn't colour matched his foundation... rookie makeup error... lol

Hair sculpt looks like He-Man but the face looks like Arnold
From what I have heard, The body comes apart at the waist, and you can remove the belt and loincloth that way.
When you put on the alternate head, it looks like someone trick or treating as He-Man

He should have came with a King Grayskull head. Could you imagine the size of a 1:6 scale Castle Grayskull. Cant wait to see the rest of the cast.

System Revolt no problem man, i wanted to let you know since theres so much negative messages here, and the figure doesnt deserve all that hate at all! Its seriously one of my favorite figure of 2019 so far, it really is amazing in person. I just wish that Dan pointed out the dark face problem, because everybody seems to think that its like that on every figures, which is not the case, in reality its a problem on Dan's figure alone...anyway, enjoy your figure! I already pre-ordered Skeletor and Faker, i cant wait!

Me too, i also have Faker pre-ordered and he looks amazing imo! I really love that new line, my He-Man figure looks amazing, i dont know why Dan didnt talked about the dark face on his figure, because mine has not that problem at all, mine has the same color has the rest of the body!
Someone should make a custom Simon Belmont with that toy.

I'm not a massive MOTU fan but I liked the 00s revival and this hits that spot for me. I'm into the less 80s barbarian toy proportions than what Super7 puts out. If they put out a 1:12 scale, I'd definitely shell out for it.

I hope we get more versions of the same characters just to get a variety of looks, accessories and heads. The overall concept of these figures is great because you’re able to get 12 inch figures with a real action figure look. I’ve got my heart set on SheRa, Sorceress and hopefully one day a ShadowWeaver.
I really like the sword, sheath and axe. The rest of the figure is ok but nothing I would go crazy over owning. Now the Skeletor figure looks promising.
I love the Power Sword. It resembles the classic sword but with a more gritty design (and me liking a grittier version is so rare this really stands out) and I like the Grayskull pommel, thought the spike's a bit much. I would have rather it look like that thing on the castle's skull.
As for the head I think the problem is with the jaw and cheeks. They're a bit too wide compared to He-Man's usual head, but just slightly enough that my brain notices it. The classic head is too small.
Highly confused as to why you didn't mention the incredibly obvious and jarring issue with the head's paint. I mean, yeah it's obvious but I'm surprised you had no opinion on it. You can also pop him apart at the waist and remove his skirt, that way you have a classic look w/ the classic head sculpt.

This figure Kinda reminds me of Dolph Lundgren’s he-man from the movie mix it in with the 2002 animated series
Just a terrible looking figure, wouldn't pay $9.99 for it. The face looks like its 3 shades darker than the body, the face isn't he man at all, the shoulders site way to high above the arms, skin color is off...just a trainwreck. By far the worst He man I've ever seen. This should be called "Chad the big shouldered tan faced warrior". Great vid though Dan, love the MOTU content.

I might not be the first to suggest this, but your Comparison Time photo made me realize that this sixth-scale He-Man would make a cool Tytus to stand alongside your MOTUC figures!
Surprised he didn’t review the Mondo exclusive comes with the vintage green Skeletor head sculpt.
Mondo made this figure so you can pop the torso off to take the loincloth off if you want.It's attached with a ball peg.
The rifle looks like the gun that comes with Webstor.
It would have been nice to have a red cape included for He-Man to create that movie aspect. I’m getting mine soon, thanks for the great review!

I love the fact that they have included all of the weapons, however the pistols always throw me LOL I forget sometimes that he- man is all about science and the Barbarian life LOL I had the same reaction when I saw Mer-man sporting a laser gun. He-man's facial tone is extremely dark in comparison to the rest of his body.

the toy head sculpt looks weird on him because the eyes are painted too simply so the styles clash.
I have the Skeletor from this line on pre-order. He's as detailed as He-man, but doesn't feel so dark and gritty. It looks like he's having way more fun.
I know this will never happen, but I want Battle Cat and Panthor in this scale...
The face sculpt and design of this figure is similar to the Sideshow statue, even has the loin cloth .

Hasbro's 12" Marvel Legends blow this away and they're only $50. No thanks, Mondo.
I was thinking the same thing. I have the whole 12" Legends line, and never paid more than $35 for one of them. $180 for this? ...no thanks.
They should have done a cartoon-accurate figure like the Classic 2.0 but in 1/6 scale.

I have an issue with the sculpt of the physique, it feels like the sculpt is maybe unfinished at the detail phaze. I am illustrator now & that, in complete honesty, is partly due to learning anatomy from drawing He-Man as a kid. I like all the clothing & weapon accessories. Really nice job on the detailing for those.
This is sadly a pass. I like how Skeletor looks and even Faker.

I agree with you on the head sculpts. They are just off. The main one is too long and red and the vintage looking one is too short and round. Otherwise it's a really good figure. Needs a holster for the small blaster and a sling for the new one though.
I’m glad this interview highlighted the QC issues, I had a run of Mondo TMNT figs and almost every one of them had QC issues which were not justifiable for $150 figures, these MOTU figs are way more expensive!
The promo shots of these yet again look incredible but the paint scuff, darker face and scraggly finishes on the joints and edges take away from the luxury. Mondo really need to step up their QC dept, for a company that produce such amazing art and other collectibles I’d have expected them to sort out this kind of stuff by now.
This will be the third franchise of Mondo figures I’m passing on that I’m passing on due to these issues, the second being Batman TAS. 😭

Mathieu Duval I agree 1000 percent. This is the main character and it’s meh. They had years to get it right and this is it? The villains look much better.

Upper torso seems small compared to how muscular the rest of the body is, and how wide of a chest/back we're used to seeing for HM, including MOTUC. Also, the classic head looks off not just as toyish, but it's a little bit exaggerated from the classic head - definitely inspired by it and evokes it, but there's something a little off. The other thing that throws that head off a bit is the eyes - the figure is meant as ultra detailed / realistic, etc., but mimicking the OG head and the paint app of the eyes throws off that concept of "realism." It's a really nice looking figure to be sure, as an alternate or gritty universe version of the character.
You were trying way too hard to be nice with this one, Dan. It looks extremely poor all round IMO, and hearing you be so positive about it left me scratching my head wondering if we were looking at the same thing.

You say 2019 is the year of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but I say 2019 is the year of Masters of the Universe, as well. I am psyched! Been waiting for these, for a long while!
The face also looks like an unfortunate blend of Classic and Movie He-Man with some clear elements of Dolph Lundgren there. They didn't appear to mesh the two concepts well enough, which is a shame.
I think the vintage head looks ALMOST right on the figure, but would look better if the whites of his eyes were painted.

For the price range this is a big let down... MONDO wake up, you're doing action figures for collectors and this is full on disrespectful!!! The flesh tone difference between the head and the rest of the body is such a rookie mistake. Did they looked to the figures and thought it was ok to present that head color and the paint scruffs from the loin cloth and wrist bands? That was a very polite review Dan.
Hard pass on all the Mondo figures as much as I wanted to love them.
I think He-Man and Skeletor’s bodies are cool and the accessories are awesome. But the heads are a complete nightmare. He-Man has no neck, and Skeletor has enough neck for two figures. They were so close on these.

I'm not a fan of the neck and shoulder area. Mondo He-Man looks like got short-changed when necks were handed out. A real shame, was looking forward to him.
I prefer the proportion but the scale. I’m definitely a 1/12 guy fo’life now.

As far as i can see, its only on Dan's figure that the face is dark like that, mine has the exact same color as the body and ive never seen another figure with the dark face before this one! Lol

Dan I would love to know more about these figures. How are they in hand after having it for some time? Are they durable? Any issues to watch out for? I ask as I am debating collecting the Mondo MOTU figures. Would love to know more. ALSO, are you planning to buy these an review the rest of them? [Begs!!!]

Hey, thanks for another great review - I was always a fan of MOTU growing up, particularly New Adventures, amongst many other franchises, but when the 'collector' in me woke up it was in respect of Transformers. Well that well has been a tad dry during the global lockdown, and I somehow discovered MOTU Classics, received my Super7 Classics Ultimate Filmation Skeletor and I'm now well and truly hooked, which has resulted in me ploughing through your review catalogue with wild abandon lol. I've Mondo Skeletor on the way to me at the moment, but I'm really on the fence over their He-Man, and I've come to realise it is mostly because of the face sculpt and leather skirt - I'm tempted to just collect the line from hereon out and forget their He-Man but also know I may regret that in a few years time - did the Mondo He-Man grow on you at all?? As it seems you were reticent for the same reasons as me. Thanks again for the reviews man, wish I'd discovered this line and your channel sooner. Krs. Chris
I really like this line of figures but way too expensive for me. I completely agree with you on the head, cool they included the original but just doesn’t work well with that body sculpt style. (Although some angles you took pics of looked ok with it) And also agree with the odd inclusion of the Filmation piece. Definitely out of place. Nice they included two of the Grayskull weapon rack weapons and the blaster pistol from the movie. (Wish it had a boot knife) The face color tone doesn’t seem to match the body tho. Overall love the look and all the accessories and the attention to details and quality. Plus awesome box and art. Looking forward to seeing more characters.
