My waist also got separated because of inadequate or improper gluing and the same thing happened with the shield strap. It can be re-glued but at $250 a piece, are we really supposed to be okay with that? Now, all we can try is contact Mondo and wait for their response. But why this figure? I have heard other collectors from past figures say that their figure is great and without issues. And this right after the She-ra quality issues. Did they switch factories or something? What will happen with the $500 Battlecat? That thing is huge and probably heavy. Will the joints hold? Will it be glued properly?
Great review. Glad you pointed out the waist issue. This happened to me right upon opening it. Truly heartbreaking. I've reached out to Mondo and we'll see what happens. Their response will determine if I go in on this line in the future. Was excited for the Deluxe Skeletor and Beastman, so fingers crossed they get things sorted for us.
Well...I got an email from Mondo telling me they were sending out a replacement head for my She-ra. Apparently there's a QC issue (which I haven't noticed on mine) and they are preemptively sending out replacement parts at no cost to me, which is awesome.
Wow this is so cool looking! He definitely seems like a great figure. My only other complaint just from seeing the video is where are his Lats? He seems a little thin in the chest and lacks that nice V shaped upper body. But everything else seems spot on. Too bad these are so expensive because I could see owning this one and a few of the others.
I agree. The lack of powerful upper lats is a bummer. This is kind of like the Masterverse figures who also are missing this. The 40th Anniversary He-Man has those lats and it looks bulkier and better. I guess Mondo saved some money on this going with the same torso as the first release. Other than that, I love the look of this figure. BTW, great review, Pixel Dan 😊👍
I'm with both of you, kinda missing the big traps, bulging chest & biceps. I am a little concerned with these issues being reported mostly because I bought one to keep in box. Now I might have to open to check.
It is 234.00 USD. I like the origins line better than this. This is a ripoff because you cannot put the sword in a holster and the armor is flimsy. I 3d print my own custom figures as well.
Glad to see yours wasn't broken or not together at the midsection. Awesome that they're already on it for replacement. His upper body is a little on the thin side to me. His lats look too small but overall I'm excited for mine to arrive tomorrow.
I got one of these, impressed by how all-out they went with it. In hand though? Number one, Mattel could make these figures THEMSELVES. If they can make 7" Masterverse with similar bodies, they could do these. Number two, almost $300 retail? No... this would be a decent $100 figure from Mattel. The paint seems to rub too easily- I got mine secondhand for a bit of a discount, the seller had barely used it though. Flesh tone paints rubbed off onto the sword handle. Battle armor gray paints transferred to the arms. That tells me Mondo didn't even use a paint that cures well or even had a sealer coat on it. Sure, visually it looks good but they're cutting corners on something they ask a lot for. The plain undamaged H also has a crack in the orange paint, which I may have to fix. Magnets? Those are useful but NOT premium. I can get a large number of magnets like these on Aliexpress for a few dollars. Mondo also does their "own spin" on some things, such as the shield, I would have preferred a more vintage design since this is a 2nd version He-Man aimed more at being vintage. On that note their Trap Jaw is too busy a design, too redesigned & I couldn't bring myself to preorder even though I generally LIKE Trap Jaw as a toy. The arms stick out too far even without armor on, they can't lie flat down to the body Why is there a bicep swivel then an elbow swivel below it? 2 joints that do the same thing. I don't have the waist issue- maybe the seller got lucky with their copy or got the replacement body. But turning the wait breaks up the sculpt terribly with the 2 halves mismatched so what's the point? It's 2 ovals that don't line up in anything but the default pose. I do not believe I will be buying anything else this company makes unless they do some severe QC improvements, but even then the cost is too much.
Love your MOTU stuff you are the MOTU and TNMT King 👑 of toys!!!!!!! Keep up the great work!!!!! Happy New Year PD!!!!!! Looking forward to the next year worth of content!!!!!
I got mine this morning and when I went to switch the heads, the middle torso came apart smh ... some super glue later n I was good, but that shouldn't of happened lol. It's still a great He-Man Figure 💯
The Classics line has created everything we loved about Heman as kids....the bulk!! While I like this figure it is much like the Mastetverse line witch has been mentioned about the pecks.Heman is suppose to look like the Hulk now these figures are just to lean.IMO
Great review! I got mine the other day and I have him posed beside my She-Ra with his battle armor, yet I have him with the Thunder Punch shield in order to give weapon storage, plus I have always enjoyed the larger almost tower shield design.
Thank you Pixel Dan for reviewing this guy. Mine is suppose to be arriving early next week. This is my first Mondo figure, and like you, i usually don’t buy figures that are this expensive. It was the ability to do 3 of his classic/vintage looks. I’m excited to get mine. Also, on the thunderpunch version, can his sword slide into the front of the shield like the vintage one?
Hi I just bought this He Man Figure from Mondo times edition I haven't opened it. Do some of these figures have a broken body? I saw mad hatters review on here for this figure and his He Man mondo Figure Timed Edition was broken the body and the legs were separated
This is why Pixel Dan's the best, he did a full comprehensive review of a prestige format product in less than 25 minutes! When this figure went on presale I was waiting by my computer and still didn't manage to get one! But my toy shelf is full and it cost a small fortune and having now seen the QC issues, I might have dodged a bullet here! Also that She-Ra looks incredible, how'd I miss her! Has anyone else noticed King Hiss is doing a Bettlejuice thing on the box art?
This one definitely looks more like He-Man, what a cool looking figure. First one was great to yet the face was to different from what we know. Also with origins, the first release was off imo, now it's perfect 👍🏼
Great review! Mine's on the way and should be here this week. I imagine it would but I thought I'd double check, does either swap out armor fit on the original version?
The red cross is a tad too chunky for me. It should be sleeker and hug the harness more rather than look like a seperate over-sized piece that was just stuck on. Overall the figure looks great though and I really wish he came with a cape as I think this version of He-man would suit the look. I'd also love to see Mondo tackle both Terror Claws and Dragon Blast Skeletor. They could look great in this style.
I know I’m not the only one that got a second body from mondo, glued it back together, and put the extra head and armor on it and ended up with two mondo He-mans.
Bought this one to display with his battle armor and one thing I've noticed is that if you want to pose him with any kind of waist twist action, the bottom magnets do not stay connected and the armor separates. Only when his waist is straight does the armor remained completely closed, which is unfortunate for action posing. Great design look overall, but I think he'll probably sit straight facing on Battle Cat when he arrives because of that.
I know, I know - for any waist twist action, the waist will have to not be broken first. Sorry, everyone, sorry. I'll let myself out now. (But once Mondo replaces the broken waist, this may be an issue for you...)
they won't stomp on their own toes so to speak yet.. prb wait couple yrs and then a weapons accessory pack but not exactly those paint apps etc, it's all part of the marketing etc game; idea is to keep you/us etc buying
Mine just arrived here in Ireland. First 1/6 figure, when I mostly collect MP TFs, MOTUC, and Neca. Looks fantastic, until I snapped his left leg :-( was planning on using a hairdryer to get everything moving smoothly, but I didn't think I used excessive force. the pegs are really not that large diameter for the figure size IMHO. See what customer support says. I have Battle Cat on preorder too...
Four months later.... my waist didn't snap apart, but it did come apart extremely easily. To the point there is essentially nothing holding it together. The peg might as well not be there. The armor does not secure very well. Tap it the wrong way and it comes undone. After one more time where even on its stand, it fell apart at the waist, I had enough and sold it. Yeah, I don't know if I'll ever get another Mondo product if this is the engineering they do.
I think they did reissue this figure but it's pared down and doesn't have the thunder punch and battle armor accessories. I may be wrong though. I hope for a Skeletor to come out. I'm a 1/12 collector and always saw 1/6 as too big, too expensive, and too "doll-like." But this He-Man stuff by Mondo has me hooked. Just got She-ra a month ago and barely got my email that this figure is on its way.
Great review as always. Love the Thunder Punch look! But it looks like the caps don't fit tight in the shield. They look like they want to fall out. Other than that, this figure looks amazing!!!
Mondo’s approach to sales is disappointing, each figure should be available at retail all year long. Instead you have to get several hundred dollars together to make your purchase during a small window, often with releases back to back
yeah unfortunately they like to jerk customer around with those deluxe timed only vs regular (aka stripped down) releases.. part of the whole game of adult collector toy buying game
@@motuc_fan_vic yeah if 1/6 scale (12 inches) figures and 'posable statues' ain't your thing, this new one just more the same and even more fragile it seemed compare to the 1st release I'm into it but even objectively speaking after receiving and opening it last night, I wouldn't recommend it to friends for their first figure in that scale.. there's far too many better choices in Hot Toys Side Show etc
These are certainly amazing, but yeah, the little scuffs and "you gotta be careful with that" tend to keep me away. It's entirely too much cash for something pretty on the shelf and out of scale with everything I own. Looks absolutely amazing, though! I'd be into it if they shrunk these down.
I think it's crazy how every company is struggling with motu proportions... They don't have to be squat lil balloon muscled fellas but nobody seems to know how to walk that line like the classics line did. This doll had a lot of potential especially with that thunderpunch kit. The overall look with those very long legs and very very short arms with the long neck just diminish what he needs to be.
Excellent review! Thank you! I don't collect 12" figures anyway, and these Mondo figures are well out of my price range as well, but danged if they aren't ridiculously cool. I think the only way to make this set better would've been some chrome effects on the Thunder Punch armour & shield.
Will it be possible to get two extra He-men with just themselves? Without all those extra heads, hands, armor and weapons. For those who may want to display him in all three styles at the same time.
So apparently, they aren't sealing the paint. The only reason would be to avoid the sheening effect a clear coat creates, but is it really worth it? The figure is designed to change accessories.
Dan an easy fix for the display of each version buy two more figurines 😊. Cool figure. I like the 40th anniversary Masterverse figure, have you reviewed it?
I have the regular release up for preorder, I really wish it came with the battle armour. I have anti-eternia He-Man preordered, and he comes with battle armour for the same price, not sure why.
Which head do you like the most? The pink lipstick was a bit too much on one head. Then there's the growling he-man, which is alright, but is cross-eyed. And then there's the retro head, which is an abomination. Cool figure overall
The first version of MONDO has its flaws, but in the comparison that you put, if you lower the skirt a little so that the abs are better seen, it looks better. I have combined that body with the battle armor and it looks great, worse with the new head.
Great pre-comment message and review! Just got mine today and can’t wait to crack him open! Power punch He-Man was one of the coolest designs as a kid!
Nice figure, but it’s incredible how the original vintage face sculpt has never been bettered, not with 200X, MOTUC, MOTUO and all the rest. Don’t particularly care for the lantern jawed daytime soap look this version rocks.
I am in the minority here but these Mondo toys just don't do it for me. A toy is a toy and honestly I think that the origins figures look better. These Mondo figures are more like statues which is just not my thing. And there certainly seems to be way too many QC issues for how expensive they are.
I can’t understand for the life of me why either Mattel or Mondo can’t make matching Swords. All these variants and accessories but simply can’t have swords that match. Some of us like what Filmation did in having the siblings swords be almost the same minus She-Ras stone.
Mine has been shipped but hasn't arrived yet, tbh I'm not loving the look of this. What's up with the pink lip gloss? I prefer the grittier look of the first version. I stuck a Chris Hemsworth head from eBay on it and he looks fantastic, much better than this in my opinion. This just looks like a big toy, it doesn't seem to go with the more realistic looks of the first 6 or so Mondo figures....maybe thats a directive from Funko?
For the high price the joints and paint need to be much better. I think the toy head sculpt sits too low on the body. It looks like there is no neck. It's too bad the price is so high. I would enjoy having several of these to make into a band of giants attacking other action figures in the 7 inch, 6 inch, and 4 inch scales. That would be an entertaining diorama.
My waist also got separated because of inadequate or improper gluing and the same thing happened with the shield strap. It can be re-glued but at $250 a piece, are we really supposed to be okay with that? Now, all we can try is contact Mondo and wait for their response. But why this figure? The vintage head on a Mondo he man is creepy
The thunderpunch fist seems a little small to me. Like he just has a flaming stump.
Got mine yesterday and I just think he looks weird. Something about the proportions. Kinda like how the Masterverse figure looks off... really bummed.
Yeah I’ve heard of QC issues with these which is ridiculous since they cost so much
Thank you for the review. The figure looks cool, but it seems too delicate and too many QC issues for the price.
oh i would like to see the first he man with one of this one´s new heads cause i really liked the first one design but the heas has little wierd
Anyone who collects 1/6 figures knows this thing is sub-par.
💯
Nice.
Nice figure, but it’s incredible how the original vintage face sculpt has never been bettered, not with 200X, MOTUC, MOTUO and all the rest. Don’t particularly care for the lantern jawed daytime soap look this version rocks.
Aewsome figure but $260' chinas 1/6 are $149 & his waist joint was loose, I had to glue it together
One side of the handle on my shield is detached, so that problem is not universally fixed.
The arms should have been more bulky, other than that, great He-Man fig.
I am in the minority here but these Mondo toys just don't do it for me. A toy is a toy and honestly I think that the origins figures look better. These Mondo figures are more like statues which is just not my thing. And there certainly seems to be way too many QC issues for how expensive they are.
Hope battle cat’s perfect , like hasbro fixed galactus after the Sentinels issues
Looks like angry kid in custom than he man
1st release has better proportion. The new one looks skinnier without the armor.
I would rather buy all the vintage variants in tje best shape possible instead of a large expensive statue. Especially with all those issues.
Thank this He Man look. 21 Castle Grayskul cool you think ok love Dwight 👍 God bless you have fun. With you He Man okay love Dwight 👍
