I love this, it kind of makes me sad in a way I can't explain, like EVERTHING Neil writes I feel his lyrics as much as I hear them, I don't even know if that makes sense to anyone who may stumble upon this comment. Thank you.
When I listen to this masterpiece I can't stop,I have to hear it over and over the words at the very start are the deepest and most significant to me and it makes me question the brilliance of the song the performance and the writing of the lyrics
Has always been such a sad song for me.....the combination of Neil's plaintive vocals; the melancholy tune and the sad realisation that a wonderful journey was about to end....minus one of the men of their great fabric with Paul leaving the band not too long before.
You can’t mistake the influence. 😊 I saw an interview where Neil was asked what’s the one song he wished he had written, and he said Across the Universe.
Paul Hester's doing the count-in. He re-joined the band temporarily to record the new songs for the "Recurring Dream" compilation, but doesn't appear in this video. ~ Team NF
1:50 When I heard this for the first time, being a teenager, my ears exploded... from pure pleasure and emotion
Danke

I know exactly what you mean.
Those deeper truths, poetically and masterfully expressed, put a lump in my throat every time.
You are correct with your analysis of how you describe your emotions to this song
"Nothing sadder than the passing of time"
Yes I do understand you One for Rock ' n Roll a very special song writer can only do this
"..and if you come undone it might just set you free.." POWERFUL.
I could listen to the bridge on an endless loop.
Am doing so!
They can't make a bad song
Aww, Lester is forever immortalised ☺️🐶
This whole song. The guitar riff. The harmonies in the chorus. From beginning to end is a master piece!
The harmonies are eeeily reminiscent of The Byrds. Very beautiful song with precise harmonies at 1:50.
Yes, I have thought that too when I hear it.
My favourite Crowded House song, love it.
Wherever there is comfort there is pain... So trying to get undone. Their music engulfs me.

New Zealand's gain is Australia's loss. Good on you Neil!
Definitely one of my favorite Crowded House songs.
It's an exceptionally catchy riff
Awesome band and tune. 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️
The start of this song is remarkably Beatlesque!
also the vocals remind me of john often - even looks uncannily alike at 1:02
You can’t mistake the influence. 😊 I saw an interview where Neil was asked what’s the one song he wished he had written, and he said Across the Universe.
I've often heard that comparision but I don't really hear it. They uniquely have their own sound
Pop perfection
A strong song of inspirational message to all.
So many likenesses to Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze...fab song!
Happiness and sadness are the same.
The empty chair at 3:24 hits different to me now, compared to when I first saw this video years ago…
Why?
@@soulglory6696 Presumably as the drummer died?
❤❤❤
Eddie Vedder on backing "Vox". 😼
Who's doing the count in.?

@@NeilFinnOfficial wow.. I thought it sounded like Paul.. but just wasn't aware he had rejoined for those songs. Thanks very much
@@symmie666 Paul briefly appears in the videos for "Instinct" and ""Not The Girl You Think You Are".

Seriously, where is Eddie Vedder on this thing?
Blink, and you’ll miss him at 1:50.
@@woozertoo Cool! That's the first time I saw him. Thanks for that. But, I still can't hear him. Backing vocal? Guitar?
i wish i was neil finn😑
always thought this was George Harrison...
I always liked this song, but the girl I dated and lived with in college hated it, maybe due to the lyrics?
