  • I've been looking for a new bench for a year and was about to purchase the AB-3000 when version 2 came out of nowhere from ‪@REPfitness‬ aka the AB-3002. I've been watching ‪@GarageGymReviews‬, ‪@BasementBrandon‬, ‪@GlucksGym‬, ‪@GarageGymGainz‬, ‪@MacStrengthCo‬ and so many others that helped me choose the right equipment (THANK YOU). This bench is so new that I wanted to help other people like me make the decision on what to buy with a real world review.

    Just FYI most benches these days are not going to the full 90° and instead are yoing for 85° because full vertical is a lot worse for your shoulders with overhead movements

      Very happy with it. Yes they've released another bench of two since then that I like but the price though. I just could not beat the price and free shipping for something that was exactly what I wanted.

    Nice video of the unboxing and putting together!
    I too was interested in the original till I saw this new 2.0 version and now I'm debating which one to get. I'm curious about a few things:
    What do you think about the weight of the bench itself? Does it feel like a heavy duty top tier bench? The reason I ask is that the original weighs 95lbs and the 2.0 version weighs 75lbs. From the specs it looks like they went with lighter guage steel on the bench. Just curious if it still feels heavy duty or if it feels cheap?
    How is the wobble?
    How is the seat connected? On the website it says the seat can be reversed so the narrow side is facing out instead of the wide side. I was thinking of reversing it for the small side for incline and maybe flat bench, but then keeping the wide side out when doing decline. I'm curious if it's easy to reverse it (without tools) or is it screwed to the frame like the back pad meaning it's not an on-the-fly adjustment?
    Thanks and keep us posted!

      Thanks! First video I've ever done. It feels heavy, so much so that I sort of wish it still had the handle in the front. I didn't mention that in the video because it was so new to me. It sort of hurts your hand to grab the laser-cut Rep logo on the front front which doubles as a handle to move it around. Also, there is essentially NO wobble. And I think that is because the front foot is way bigger than the original bench. I have no qualms about this being a possibly lighter gauge and lighter bench. You ask a great question about the lower seat. Yes it can be flipped around and I think either position would be fine, I'm testing their suggested wide-side out towards the leg rollers. BUT, it does require tools to flip it around because the bolts do go into the pad itself. And like other videos have mentioned, both 1.0 and 2.0 bolt locations are hard to get to. It is not a quick disconnect and flip it around. It's a 5-10 minute project.

      @@multipotentiality9144 Thank you so much for the follow up! I was really worried about the lighter weight being an issue and you've definitely put my mind at ease there, especially when you described the larger foot pads!
      As a follow up on moving it around, you mentioned that you grabbed onto the the laser etched logo to move it around, is that something that REP suggests? Reason I ask is that I was also looking at the AB-4100 and that one is moved around by a front rod. I guess I was just figuring that the front foot pad rod on this new 2.0 version doubled as a pick up location for moving it around. Maybe not?

    • @multipotentiality9144
      @multipotentiality9144  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@waterprosurge Well, they do have a photo on their website showing a guy moving it around as such. See below. I think the handle got in the way of using the leg pads or the adjustable motion. But it would have made the bench easier to move around. Gripping the laser cut logo on the front to lift and move the bench does pinch the palm of your hand. I've started grabbing the lower seat to lift it which in the long run may not be good for it. I'm only lifting it enough to engage the rear wheels and not strain my back but that's about 24 inches off the ground and even at 89 pounds it has some weight to it.

      @@tonya7699 I have now, it wasn't as obvious when I first put it together that it doubled as a handle. I also had the leg pads tucked as far under as they could go and that was a lower reach and further back in so I grabbed the name plate instead. Minor thing, otherwise I'm liking this bench a lot.

    Does the steel on the leg roller scratch the part of the bench with holes on it (the one you put bolts on)?
    Mine does when I adjust the leg roller up/down, it seems to be too tight. Will loosening the bolts be the best solution? Or is it factory defect?

    • @multipotentiality9144
      @multipotentiality9144  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There is a gap of about 1/4-in on either side of the leg roller's steel frame and the frame of the bench where the holes are. I did a quick video on it, see link below. It seems like the left side barely touches and makes a sound but I don't see a scratch. If I had that issue I might take the leg extension off and use a rubber mallet to try to bang the ears out wider. The 11-gauge steel is really strong so that might be hard to do. th-cam.com/users/shortsh4MO0KuLjeM

    • @multipotentiality9144
      @multipotentiality9144  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. I have a mix of stall mats from Tractor Supply and foam mats from Dicks Sporting Goods. The 3/4-inch solid rubber stall mats are under the Rogue rack and the Inspire FT-1 functional trainer. I really like them BUT they were very heavy to move and they smelled really bad. The basement reeked of vulcanized rubber for weeks while they were off gassing. I had fans running for a few days to help dissipate the smell which helped a lot. I had no chance to air them out in the sun like people suggest. You can still slightly smell it but it's faint and I have no problem with it now. The rest of the workout space has the foam interlocking mats. They are nice but anything with weight dents them temporarily and our dog's claws can easily put permanent marks in them. But they make for a great area to stretch, dumbbell workouts, etc.

    Is this in metallic or matte black? Looks sick man. Since you've had it for 4 or 5 months now how has it still been treating you?

    • @multipotentiality9144
      @multipotentiality9144  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a very subtle metallic black. You have to be right up on it and have light shining on it to see the metallic. Otherwise it looks exactly like my gloss black RML-390C Rogue rack. So far I like it a lot, it's built like a tank. I'm a little jealous that Rep just released the BlackWing but that's like twice the price at $600. I might flip the seat around so the wide part is towards the back pad for wider rear end support. I love everything about it except maybe the handle to move it around.

    Nice video! I purchased this bench and assembled it today. In step 2A (from the assembly instructions manual), where the leg attachment is added to the bench using a single nut, it says fully tighten. Now, I am unable to move the leg attachment at all. Can you kindly clarify how to ensure that the leg attachment moves smoothly to be able to use all the holes?

    • @multipotentiality9144
      @multipotentiality9144  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry, I did not see this right away. The swinging, adjustable leg attachment only uses one of the pins with the ring on the end of it. That way you can pull the pin and adjust its location using the various holes. No bolts or nuts are used to attach it. Hope that helps.

    • @WalkingLegacy
      @WalkingLegacy ปีที่แล้ว

      The 4100 cannot decline and has a lesser weight capacity (still a lot). The AB-3000 2.0 can stand vertically but it isn't designed for it, so it's at your own risk. This is through my own research and watching many many review videos looking for a FID (flat, incline, decline) bench.

    • @multipotentiality9144

      This one declines and for me that was important. I was looking at the original version and was going back and forth between buying that or the 4100. The decline feature is what I wanted. The fact that this bench does not store vertically was not an issue for me personally but I can see how that would be important to a lot of people.

      Excellent, it's built really well. I really like the subtle black metallic powder coat. I guess Rep is moving in that direction for all their black items. Pad is really tough, it's a little stiff but I'd rather not sink at all and it does not do that. Easy to clean too. I recommended to our local high school to look at Rep benches for their upcoming weight room remodel. And that's coming from someone who had all Rogue equipment and lives really close to the Rogue manufacturing facility.

      @@multipotentiality9144 Yeah. It's cool. I've had v1 for over two years, and it's funny, but none of the changes with v2 work for me. The new front foot can store on my v1 Black Widow wall mount hanger. The rubber on the feet play no role in my life because I have stall mat flooring, and the bench never moves. The swinging foot pads on v1 I like because I don't have to engage a pin and move them when I want to use them, and when I don't they fall down out of the way. The v2 is 20 lbs lighter which I suppose would make it easier to mount on the wall, but not a big deal. The extra seat back positions are fine, but I have never once thought "I wish I had more positions." Thanks for the review, but I think I am content with the v1. Interesting they kept the price the same (for now).
