I even raced him over and over until he became my friend in-game. His Lancer handles well but it isn't as fast as some of the other rival cars.

I've had this game since I was 8. Back then I couldnt understand how the different battles worked. After giving up, I get back to the game 12 years later and beat it in about a week and a half. It's a fun game. I might just go play it again
You can show the stats of the Rival Cars to get a more accurate performance of them, though I believe Genki programmed the Rival Cars to where the CC was manually have to be put in. In the US/EU Version the special vinyls you see these rivals use are unlocked when you beat them, but since the Art Category is not accessible you have to brute force it

Vacant Light Making said Code would be 220 plus lines. It’s more or less Genki adding 1/0 switches and changing the Category of each car to be Normal, which allows for customization. And the Vinyl part probably would involve finding the Joker Commands.

Not really, takumis car doesnt have the decal in both sides, the brake pads weren't blue and the lights are not covered in carbon fibre, also takumi drives the 83 model, thats a more modern model due to the tailights, the wing and the sideskirts and bumpers, but is a nice reference

Fun fact: Yeti Fang's Clio, Midnight Rose's 3000GT, True Champion's RS6 and Executioner on Wheels' Evo 8 MR had rims that were erased in overseas releases, hence they were changed to AVS Advan rims.
Ootsuka's S2K instead uses ASL Garaiya-styled CE28N rims.
True I'm so scared drifting with FR cars in this game it's quite tougher than other games I've used to so I always use 4wd cars in this game.

The Devil Z had some cosmetics that looked more "Devilish" than before
Ikr, it's more Devilish because of the Skull livery, and somewhat a "Coffin" in the hood. EVEN IT SAYS "DEATH" on the License plate.

Fujinoki is the real name of the real life bunta fujiwara, he is the real tofu shop owner, fun fact, he never had a ae86 (the trueno was taked from shuichi shinego and takumis voice actors fav car) but did had a subaru impreza wich was not a wrx sti, it was a regular none Boxer impreza in silver
and this "Takuya Hagiwara" guy was actually the leader of the "Diamond Image" team from the TXR series up to Japan-only Racing Battle C1 GP on his break or sum shit
That GTR can very well be a dead ringer for the Assoluto Bisonte from RRT4.
I was able to make friends with the guy at 8:40 by beating him before the finish line. When I got to borrow his car, the tune was so good that the car grips the road well regardless of terrain and weather. It was fast as well. It can do 0 to 60 in 3 seconds or less if I'm not mistaken.
This may not be seen but I'm playing the game for the first time and I don't know how to find your friend cars? I made friends with four rivals already

My childhood, although the almost infinite loading times, I always played it. I will never forgive 3d artists for putting that horrible carbon spoiler on the ae86. I have the European version called "kaido racer 1". I beat almost every opponent, but could never find the No. 0 opponent in Hakone.
You need to get 40 prizes from Medalists and daytime events. The prizes are like trophies/medals.

Anyone know how to unlock the sp versions of the Subaru impreza and the evo 8..I finished the game and beat everyone and those are the only two cars missing from the car list....
Man I wish the custom rival cars were actually purchaseable in this game as opposed to hoping for the slim chance one of them becomes your friend.
I still don't know if there's anything behind the friend system or if it's just pure RNG.

Tricksters are like mini bosses of each course while Slashers are the main bosses of each course. Some Tricksters used to be slashers (like Kaido President)

There are many Initial D & Over-Rev references in this game.
Once you beat that Takuya, you unlock the AE86 for purchase in the car dealer.
Also, that Red Suns reference team, unlocks the RX-8 in the car shop.
