The countdown on Genki Racing Project is underway! Which is indicating the new upcoming Shutokou Battle/Tokyo Xtreme Racer game (game consoles or PC versions, not that mobile gacha one)
Rip, I just wish their final game would have been their best, like they put everything into it, like the car list from drift 2/txr 3, all the highways from all the previous games, with the same visuals as import tuner challenge, and it should have been a multi platform game with a port to the newer consoles
I'd feel a TXRZ and Drift 2 car roster would take a game like that higher. Personalization from Zero and the more unique boss cars and presentation etc
I was not aware that TXR existed so far back. Shutoko Battle 94 looked like a Mario kart re-skin and Drift King Shutoko Battle 2 looked like an F-Zero reskin. Thanks for the video super cool cant wait for TXR 2025.
Oh man. I was 7 when I got to play Tokyo Highway Battle for the first time. It was my very first Playstation game. I remember being so hype and smug when I finally beat Keiichi Tsuchiya as the final boss haha. Times were simpler then...

Assetto Corsa now carries the TXR torch. AC is the TXR we could only dream about. From cutting up highway traffic at midnight in Tokyo with other players online to drifting the togue tandem with other players. AND IN VR!!!
Who ever did the driving for these videos is horrible, that aside these are some of my fondest racing game memories as a kid playing Tokyo Xtreme/2/3/zero combing FAQ's to find what characters are needed on your lisence plate to draw out certain wanderers, setting up gear ratios for the transmission, arguing with friends who only used the dodge viper once unlocked Edit: i do think they could have done a bettwr job on the Xtreme Racer Drift games, although i did love/appreciate the Togue settings
I own the TXDR 2 for the PS2, and got as far as Kaido President in Hokkaido. I almost beaten him, but I was too excited that I disconnected the PS2 controller. And the game doesn't pause when controller unplugged. And whenever I versus him again, his crank his difficulty to 11.
Ive been playing TXR since it came out and still frequently play it...i keep a PS2 specifically for TXR games and the OG Gran Turismos 1/2... Now i have them all on my steam deck....my fucking god life is sweet sometimes and theres a NEW ONE!!???!

If the rumors are true, Genki may be developing a new TXR again. Having just watched this video, it's amazing to me that no developer has really stepped up to make a new drifting game since 2007 for a home console. And the 2017 effort on mobile is a huge L.
@@nah6898 Import Tuner Challenge was pretty mediocre (the customization, while so nice, it was not enough to make up how lacking the whole game is) C1 Racing battle is probably my favorite from the series

I hope to see another TXR on a modern engine. Loved that series. Been playing TXR3 lately.
For me i played all 4 of those including Both TXR1 PS2 and Dreamcast ports.

In zero boss cars felt unique since they had 10hp more at stock than a normal version of the same car
And zeros car roster is about 50 percent “different” variations of the same car

They already had one, Sega GT. Sega GT2002 in particular was an amazing game...
Just a small correction, TXR3 and SB01 are the same game with the first one being the western (localized) version of the latter (jp/og)

Nah every game after txr3 was amazing besides the mobile game and maybe the “online” version of the game
