Thank you so much for this, I've watched like 4 other videos and no one else broke down the rotations in an understandable way for me. As a new player this was game changing
Hello, great video! I subbed to your youtube and followed your twitch! But I have a few questions; Im at 11:43 where you talk about the 5th priority list spell; blizzard/ freezing rain. Well ill be using the freezing rain talent for all pve. And i think when i pvp ill use splitting ice. Back to the pve though; from whats said in the video and the stats of the talents and spells, it seems like it could be a good idea to use blizzard instant cast everytime its possible; after the frozen orb. To reduce orb cooldown and such. but i do see when u talk about the single target rotation u mention these things in the list, but dont show it in the rotation. but for the aoe rotation u do show orb and blizzard rotation. You talk about a cleave but im just coming back from the mmo scene after a few years, so i dont completely understand what you mean. Does cleave mean 2 enemies? Will I not be using orb and blizzard for 1 single target. but for 2 enemies or more? As for the legendaries go tbh this is the first time ive heard of them as im new to wow, and i like Slick Ice. How would I go about getting that? It seems you can have only one at a time? Is it a passive? And as for soulbinds and conduits it seems ill have to finish the shadowlands dlc to use them, thats what my friend told me. Though I only knew about the covenent parts. I think ill go with venthyr! thank you
Hi, great video! It was relly helpful. I have a noob question about Flurry and Brain Freeze. If you get a Brain Freeze proc, should you save it until you get 5 icicles? So when at 5 icicles the rotation would be: Frostbolt -> Flurry (With Brain Freeze)-> Ice Lance?
Good question! It does not end up being a damage gain to do that. Simply put, the rotation I outlined in the guide is currently the best rotation players are aware of when ran over thousands of iterations.
@@hudsonhoch Thank you for the quick reply! So in reality the number of icicles dosen't really matter? Unless you don't get either a BF or FoF proc, and then cap at 5 icicles?
@@MrShinzx you can completely ignore icicles in PvE with this build, any extra icicles you get after 5 will be sent at the target by default so it doesn’t matter at all really 👍 honestly it kind of sucks that frosts mastery is so bad, but i guess that’s just the way things are lol
Appreciate the video as I was debating between fire and frost. Even though I'm trying to get into higher mythic plus and raiding I play also for the fantasy and love ice magic. One question I have is, what do people mean when they say fire scales so well? Does that mean frost will never do as well in the long run? Thanks and keep up the good work.
you are fine to pick whatever spec ya want man! honestly frost doesn’t look bad right now when people say that fire scales better, they are mostly talking aoe (if they mean stats they are dumb), bc fire mages damage is uncapped guess what though? frost mage damage is also uncapped for blizzard, unfortunately fire mages do slightly higher percent of their aoe with their uncapped ability, but this doesn’t affect you unless your tank / group is good enough to pull 10+ mobs reliably let me know what ya end up deciding, but my recommendation is frost if that’s what u enjoy :)
I'm not sure if I want to go Frost or Fire (I'm kinda tired of Arcane atm) but I was hoping to choose something besides Night Fae since I've already got a Night Fae Afflic warlock. However I'm NOT a high end player so I should really be picking whatevers going to help cover my handicap in skill. Off topic Question (really shouldn't be doing this sleep deprived so pardon rambling lol), I use Dominos UI to just move the bars around... is switching to the UI I see really going to change my output or is it just an easier way to keep track of effects.
@@ilikefishandpotatoes Ahh okay thank you! I only really play frost, so I ended up crafting slick ice for raid. Will craft glacial fragments after next week when those torghast layers open. How about you guys?
Hi love! Thanks for this video, I very much enjoyed it! Your video kinda relieved me because I really want to play frost for raid as I have played too much fire in BFA and kinda burnt out on it haha ... I just a few small questions for you if you don't mind @hudson. Firstly do you ever use cold of cold? and could you please define funneling for me?
Ay thank a bunch for the support! Also, great questions. 1) Never use cone of cold unless you need the slow effect from it. This is counter intuitive as cone of cold use to be an important part of frost mages, but now it is hardly ever pressed. 2) Funneling is when you gain additional damage on a specific target when you add more enemies to the fight. Most specs lose damage on the priority target when switching to AOE rotation. However, frost actually gains damage!
you can change between soulbinds along with your talents however if you want to change the conduits in the soulbinds, you currently have to go to your covenant area to do that
With two or more targets i usualy oppen with a blizard so that when i orb the bliz is immediately ticking the cd down then refresh bliz on cd. Aslong as there are 2 or more targets. Do the sims say thats not the way to go?
Yepp, you are correct! I try to keep the rotation as simple as possible in the class guides, as the sims are still developing currently, then after the raid launches I will put out in depth videos for the mostly finalized rotations 👍
I'm here for seeing if I wanna arcane or frost, but keep getting distracted by how G O R G E O U S you are! Btw which would you personally recommend for someone doing mythics and pvp? Would you say arcane or frost?
haha thanks! and i would probably suggest arcane if you had to pick one for pvp and mythics 👍 they are doing really good right now in pvp and not bad in m+
you actually do not use shifting power at all in single target unless you have grove invigoration in aoe you can use it in different ways, and it’s not clear what is best currently, i would suggest using it directly after a blizzard to get cdr in your blizzard and almost instantly cast a second one
i honestly think ele sham is really fun, but i would suggest playing all of the mage specs to bc frost by itself is fun but when you add fire and arcane it’s SOOOO FUN
I got back into wow because of the pandemic, and I had to go back to work a week before shadowlands release. It feels bad to have to real life, but I guess I can be a casual.
Hey man, don’t worry about working during release! Even if you don’t reach max level the first week there are catch up mechanics apparently. A raider on my raid team is moving where he lives for the first three weeks of shadowlands, and he will probably even be fine. I am sure you will be good! Best of luck brother 👍
so ive seen this done a few different ways now when flurry procs,so say i get two fingers of frost procs with a flurry proc A. fire fingers of frost procs straight into firing flurry with two follow up ice lances or B. fire fingers of frost procs, frost bolt then flurry and follow up with ice lances And ty for the video btw

Never in my life did I think I would find Hudson looking for wow content - Connor
looks very *cool*
still looking forward to that bis transmog for each spec video.
Amazing video thank you so much
Awesome video. Thanks for info and work put in.
Ay I love to do it. Thanks for all the support Semi!!! You been an absolute G since I started posting!
Awesome info bro really loved the video
Congrats on passing 1k subs dude !
ayyyy thanks bro! couldn’t have done it without all the support
The lv40 talent row isnt actually just utility, an extra frost Nova means you can shatter more ice lances in big aoe pulls
Nice video! thanks! :)
How do you get Conduits? WOrld quests and PvP vendor only?
This is a really good guide
Thank you for this guide!
I’m playing for the first time since WOTLK I’m glad this vid came out just in time!
Ayyyy! Hell yeah! You’re gonna have so much fun haha

do you have an updated version ? there's changes in the conduit page

I got Temporal Warp off of a drop and it specifically states that it requires Arcane spec to use.
Yeah it said that on beta as well, but it worked on all specs there. We will see tomorrow when people craft it and tries it out 👍
You have to be arcane to craft it, but all specs can use it, until they change it at least.

Should the single target rotation, shouldnt 6 be 3?
as a frost mage, is it hard to go thru Torghast?
WHat about "Flasks"?
Spectral Flæask of Power maybe? Or did I miss something?!

I'm freezing inside is wondering why
Would you only use Shifting Power for cooldown reduction when there is downtime or do you wanna make use of the damage aswell ?
you actually do not use shifting power at all in single target unless you have grove invigoration
in aoe you can use it in different ways, and it’s not clear what is best currently, i would suggest using it directly after a blizzard to get cdr in your blizzard and almost instantly cast a second one
any ideas yet if mage can compete in the raid at top level?
yeah mage will 100% be used by top guilds in every fight, there will always be at least one and sometimes way more on certain fights

Best race for mage on horde?
If I have an off hand should that be enchanted aswell?
iirc, you cannot enchant offhands with weapon enchants, and this should still be the case in shadowlands. I hope that helps!
Mage undead or blood elf for mythic?
race does not matter anymore. no racials have a difference higher than 1%
i really cant decide between fire and frost... wtb help xd
you don’t have to decide tbh, that’s why mage is always so good, there will always be at least one good spec for most situations
Thanks bruv
frost or arcane? can someone help me decide?
frost
Awesome!!! All the things i need to know
so ive seen this done a few different ways now when flurry procs,so say i get two fingers of frost procs with a flurry proc
A. fire fingers of frost procs straight into firing flurry with two follow up ice lances
or
B. fire fingers of frost procs, frost bolt then flurry and follow up with ice lances

Dude, damage profiles for Nathria will dictate my covenant and legendary.
did you choose yet?
Cheers
14 frost mages... thank those shitlords for getting our spec nerfed so many times.
