@@jess09ra no it doesn’t, not holding back means not restraining your power, like for example when mihawk beat zoro, he held back his swing as to not kill zoro, but now he’s not holding back his swings. At the same time he’s not putting enough effort into his swings to go all out
@@jess09ra Not holding back is what you do when you are trying to kill something. Going all out is when you're trying to put the most effort into something as possible. If you think it looked like Mihawk was going all out and couldn't kill pre-timeskip Luffy, then you're seriously misinterpreting the scenes. This is the world's strongest swordsman, he would have killed Luffy if he was going all out. He didn't even perform a named attack or even an attack similar to the one he used on Whitebeard.
@@RestlessGamblrr hey thanks for the reply! I hear ya but I do think it’s quite a reach to explain it that way. I think maybe it’s just an anime phrase? When someone in Shonen doesn’t hold back i usually take it they’re serious and going all out. But sure I might be wrong. Oda will reveal it in due time 👍🏻.
Anyways even if you’re correct, a serious mihawk not being able to injure luffy greatly is kinda disappointing, but I blame Oda on this, his power scaling has been awful. Like how can shanks lose his arm to a sea king smh.

I literally can't fathom why someone would think Mihawk is a fraud. It would literally destroy Zoro's entire existence as a character if Mihawk is a joke. It would make Shanks look like an idiot. It would make the Warlords and the WG also just look stupid.

I understand people just want feats, and Marineford has lots of excuses and explanations for why certain characters fought the way they fought, to put it simply, 99% of the High and top tiers held back for most of the war/ all of it.

Mihawk and Dragon are overdue for an on-panel feat. Shanks’s hardcore stans should be worried that Oda is revealing Shanks’s arsenal first before Mihawk’s, ‘cause it’s almost like Oda’s saving the best for last.

Looking back at it now, Sabo is one of the strongest 1st commanders, along with the Revolutionary commanders turning out to be capable of stalling nerfed admirals; if Dragon really is a top-tier, they could’ve had a chance at taking down Blackbeard and showing how threatening they were to the WG for taking down an emperor and their crew. Though, I’ll give it to Dragon for saving his resources for the WG.
I think people purposefully misrepresent what Mihawk was saying during that talk with Buggy.
What he and Croc were saying is "do you expect that we two alone face all these powerful pirate crews to make YOU pirate king?"
They are not afraid of the challenge, its just that they dont want put in the work for the dream of a person they dont respect.
I agree with this, but I think it's only a small part of what Mihawk was saying. I think for the most part Mihawk was really just being aware of the difference in strength as a group. It's only Mihawk and Croc who are actually strong, while Luffy, Shanks, and Blackbeard have maybe 4+ crewmates who can keep up with their capt's strengths, not to mention Luffy and Shanks have a whole ass fleet.
I find it weird that guys say mihawk cant be above shanks but ignore that he has like a hundred statements saying he is the strongest and most skilled swordsmen and even has the strongest sword

When Ace wanted the WB Pirates to help him fight the Beast Pirates, they refused pick a fight with Kaido due to the cost that it would bring. Not to mention the fact that Kaido defeated Oden, a well respected and renowned member of their crew that could compete with some of the strongest pirates out there. Are we going to say Whitebeard is a fraud too? Their caution was justified

When Luffy bumps into Mihawk at Marineford, he makes a remark on Mihawk’s strength, its peculiar to have Luffy out of all characters to be given that dialogue line, Oda means business with Mihawk’s character, and Luffy happens to remember his name, when he has barely seen him (once only), is not of his interest, for he barely remembers anything beyond what he needs to, its a subtle clue, we all know how Luffy is, he is pure of heart and an adorable knucklehead, he is pure heart and if Luffy remembers anyone, that too for their strength is a testament …..Also the way Mihawk is presented always, the makers dress his presence with an air of dread for most of the characters, like theres a grim atmosphere when he enters, thats only with him…be it the first time, or when he chose to attend the Shichibukai meet, even in the movie Stampede, the sound of that ship getting sliced, and the sudden silence that followed with everybody in awe, like they knew what’s coming, its all planned guys, he is a monster to say the least, and we will discover it soon

All your points were correct. Just missing some facts.
1. Mihawk has been using his Observation Haki, since the beginning.
It's been confirmed, Mihawk can see others true power levels, abilities, and conditions.
2. Mihawk saw WB wasn't in good condition, and weakend. He wanted to confirm it. He wasn't testing his own ability, like to literally see how strong he was, no. As his statement stated, he was testing WB, how he weakend. So he used an attack as strong as WB, which literally confirmed WB was operating on the level of his subordinates.
2. Same thing as with WB. Mihawk saw Shanks was weaker, and could no longer be his equal.
3. Most importantly when Mihaw first met the Straw Hats, he sensed Zoro was using Haki, and had Conqueror's Haki. Same with Luffy, thus why he was invested in him.
On Marineford Mihawk wasnt testing Luffy, but his fate, his Observation of him.
4. Against Vista as he was only testing him, used Vista's strength against him, Mihawk wasn't using his own strength.

Everytime Mihawk is in a chapter its like One Piece fans lose to ability to read. Both Mihawk & Crocodile expressed why Buggy being a Yonko benefited them especially since Mihawk wants to live a life of peace. Later Buggy was trying to force his dream of becoming of Pirate King onto them which by doing that would ruin their preferred life style yet people call him a fraud for this? Why would Mihawk chase a dream he never had?

The statement from mihawk in marineford about not holding back is referring to his sword. It is a black supreme grade sword. It could be that similar to enma, it does not hold back, it will cut more than necessary. Like when it cut the frozen wave.
Also the stuff in chapter 1082 is so brain dead like mihawk is literally the only one in cross guild capable of fighting a yonko except maybe crocodile. What mihawk said was basically “you really except us to pick a fight with yonko crews when I’m the only one who can fight any of them.” Like he is not dodging because he is weak like bro cannot just solo yonko crews. No one in one piece can
And people don’t wanna mention the fact that Roger ducked and was scared of the idea of fighting a young BM that wasn’t even in her prime, and also the fact that Whitebeard was scared and ducked to fight Kaido to avenged Oden’s death who he called his big brother. @@Khaled68335 it's not about being scared. It's about the cost to reward ratio. Mihawk never had the goal of becoming thr pirate king. Also fighting a Yonko doesn't mean straight up going head to head with the boss. It means going through the whole crew.
As far as the sbs and manga goes. Red haired pirates are supposed to be the most balanced crew. That means each pirate on the crew is very close to each other in terms of strength. Benn Beckmann, the 1st commander is supposedly as strong as Shanks. So no matter how strong a Yonko is, the losses one would suffer fighting another outweigh the reward. That is how the four Yonkos keep peace.
Crocodile is yonkou commander level, he could fight a yonkou but wouldn't win, mihawk is yonkou level
Right now I have Shanks, Mihawk and Kaido in my current top three (if I count Kaido as alive). I prefer having Shanks and Mihawk over Kaido at this point simply, because we have not seen them fight seriously and we are in the final saga, with Kaido out of the picture. Shanks simply has more feats at this point than Mihawk, with a lot of narrative backing (Luffys idol etc...) and portrayal from Kaido who placed him in his top five and what happened during MF. However Mihawk has even better narrative portrayal with the worlds strongest swordsman title, but he lacks the feats. I also have a bit of a problem with the WSS title, mainly because in chapter 1058 Oda directly compared Mihawk to Shanks and stated that Mihawks swordsmanship skill surpasses Shanks. If Mihawk is just outright stronger than Shanks why not use the term "strength", why "swordsmaship skill". And those are not the same in meaning IMO. Being a better swordsman doesn't mean you have better Observation, speed, iq, durabillity, endurance, Conquerors(which Mihawk doesn't even have confirmed, but he 100% has it) and so on. IMO the only Haki that would be better by default, if you are the more skilled swordsman is Armament Haki, because the way you apply it is specifically into a sword, so having more skill with a sword would help that. But, yea, Mihawk defenitely isn't a fraud. That dude a demon. To me I currently have Shanks insanely extreme diff Mihawk, but Mihawk being number 1 doesn't bother me at all. Great vid!
If you want to scale Mihawk look at what his student is able to do to Kaido and he’s nowhere near his level yet…
may you explain why mihawk has better narrative than kaido? i don't understand why people put someone who's just a title rider (atleast for now) above someone who has shown the greatest feats in one piece.

What people forget about the slash that was blocked by Jozu was that it wasn’t aimed at Jozu. The first major power up Zoro got was being able to differentiate what he wanted to cut and what he didn’t want to cut. You can’t say Zoro is weak because he couldn’t cut a leaf because his goal was to not cut it. Mihawks goal was to test WB everyone else at the war at the time was irrelevant to him.

@@gazaalley3862actually you are correct, an slash sent by mihawk could be blocked by mr.1 because it was aimed to luffy. And panel later he one shoot him with an even more normal slash, so the evidence is there.
But even then, jozu didnt BLOCK IT, mr.1 did, took the full hit. Jozu only made the full force of the slash that was overwhelming him to go up, he didnt block/tank it.
It is incredible curious to me that no one ever talks of this.
Jozu was being PUSHED by an slash, a very normal one, and he couldnt tank it. So he ended up sending it to the sky, the fact that he was diamond helped him a lot, possibly strongest durability..
Jozu is amazing but if mihawk wanted to cut jozu he only would need to use haki to negate diamond ability, and assuming he has an amazing armament or conq he very much can..but again marineford for powerscaling is just confusing and didnt aged well, no one uses marineford these days.

When Zoro encountered Mihawk during the Baratie arc he didn't challenge him to a skills competition, he challenged him to a duel. The WSS title is won through a duel. If Mihawk and Shanks are the greatest rivals and they dueled numerous times but Mihawk has the title then Mihawk obvioulsy won those duels. Whitebeard says the duels rang through the world. How could someone see Mihawk lose a duel and still call him WSS? When Shanks was featless people still had him top 1 and now that he one shot fodder (Kidd) that proves he's top 1 and only feats matter now? Kaido has better feats still but Shanks is obviously stronger? Y'all just biased.

I feel like people want to downplay Mihawk just because they can't take that zoro is going to be stronger that Yonkos like Shanks and Kaido by the end of the series.

Something people don’t take into consideration for Jozu blocking Mohawk’s slash (or for other stuff like Zoro blocking Big Mom and Kaido’s attack in Wano) is that the attack in question was just the air/shockwave created from Mihawk waving his sword, which naturally would have lost some measure of its original power the further it travels.
So if Jozu could only barely deflect a shockwave from Mihawk, I don’t see him being able to tank a direct hit from Yoru

Like the Mihawk downplay is something I would never understand. Like I get that Shanks is cool, badass and really strong but this doesn’t mean that Mihawk should be underestimated just because he didn’t show much of his power. It’s literally been stated since his fist introduction that Mihawk is the strongest swordsman, what’s so difficult to understand? Like I’ve heard takes from certain people on his power that really makes me wonder if these people have really read the manga. He named Mihawk the strongest swordsmen and the goal for Zoro, he showed his reasonings clear as day of his laxed approach during marineford none of it is hidden, people just can't fucking *READ*

For instance, if you want to convince a reader that a character is strong, you place them in relation to another strong character to convey that strength and that is a feat. Oda does this all the time, but rarely does he lay things out in no uncertain terms.
@@michaeleanthonyjr The problem with feats is the viewer, not Oda. Oda places feats constantly through narrative that get overlooked by people who have low reading comprehension. Off screen fights, talks of the past, statements made by powerful known characters. These are all valid and often times more valid than when a character fights if that fight isn't an all out. One piece is a long story, not a battle royal.
@@Korksbebig To be fair, actual demonstrations hold more weight than statements. And sometimes statements might not line up with what is demonstrated, although I can't immediately think of any specific examples in One Piece off the top of my head.
Whitebeard is the perfect example of this line of reasoning. During Marineford, he probably was the strongest combatant present but we all know how it turned out. Strength and skill alone does not guarantee victory in a straight up fight let alone a pitch battle with hundreds/thousands of fighters involved. Mihawk IS the strongest swordsman in One Piece but he's not invincible and he knows it. He could probably beat anyone in a 1v1, but in a battle, people can and will team up against stronger fighters. Hell that's how Whitebeard, Kaido and Big Mom lost in the first place.
Tbh i have no doubts on Mihawk about his strength until now as u said, he was never serious because he was never interested thats it, we'll see it when he shows it. But only one thing he became disappointment is cus he doesnt show any interest. I know his interested in Luffy's character n even how Zoro progresses but other than that none of the things interests him. I dont need to mention swords cus its his life. The thing is if mihawk doesnt show interest in anything than we might not know his personality in depth for a character who was introduced way in east blue. It was exciting in east blue cus the words he said to zoro and he was motivated. It was cool, with cross guild it was great to see him join atleast even out of his interest but his participating in this race. I just wanna see more interesting interactions with him.

My biggest gripe with Shanks "fans" are that they like the character for all the wrong reasons. One of the core aspects of Shanks' character is that he sacrificed his shot at being the strongest swordsman and Pirate King to save the next Pirate King. The boy with Roger's dreams. Without that sacrifice, his character wouldn't be nearly as interesting. If Shanks fans had their way, they would destroy his character's importance within the story's narrative. Which is honestly just sad.
