Dave where do you anchor the trap to once the beaver take off with it you have to put a droning cable also. I would like to know where you tight down the trap ....thank you lots
the only dowside i think could be the fencing bending while getting beat up thanks great idea it will knock the stuffing out of them for sure thanks for the video atb Russ
Good video. I could have used one of these on a beaver job I did last month. I'll have to try building one for myself. Since the bottom of the float is open what keeps the beaver from just swimming under to get the lure? Thanks.
I use a mix of 1 part black tremcladf paint and 5 parts high test gas. Dip and hang well before the season so the gas evaporates and you are good to go.
I have build one with slots like marten box and full végétation screen on bottom fake castor mounted in far end it looks like floating island and suit case catch
Very Nice Dave..its like the Cadillac of Beaver floats...thanks
Looks like awesome set up Dave ! Thanks for sharing. Migwech
I like the design, would be great in Wisconsin where the trap has to be half submerged but seems really heavy though
Looks like it will snag 'em for sure Dave! I like the idea for the castor as well!
Looks like the quest is coming along well!!!
Another thing I like to know what size board and how long .I appreciate. Thanks
Ain't it humorous where the mind wanders when it lacks stimulation..straight back to the good times and beaver infestation..!!
Always back to what you love the most.
Trapping World
Indubitably !

Good design Dave. Would you also put poplar branches where the beaver castor lure holder is located too as an additional visual attractant?
Hey Jen... Poplar would be an added attraction for sure. I just used scent last year and it worked great but any extra can only help.
+Trapping World Thanks Dave.
Looks very nice I might just make one or two and try them out .But do you Anchor the trap to the box hope not let me know what you do thanks
the only dowside i think could be the fencing bending while getting beat up thanks great idea it will knock the stuffing out of them for sure thanks for the video atb Russ
Ya it gets bent a bit but straightens right out easily.
I have to try that .
To what would your anchor to the trap and floater .I assume with 2 stakes.
Look pretty good! I want to try one this season coming up, might have to incorporate a lot of your ideas into mine... :)
They sure worked good last fall.
Awesome looking float dave those things look deadly, neat little trick there with the handle, just a few months to go dave haha,:):)
Can,t wait. Planning on hitting those beavers hard this fall.
Dave if you dont mind what are the dimension of the box . I thank you
I’m working one for otter with similar design. How can I call you to discuss? Thanks!,
put 110's in the gaps and collect the muskrats also
What is the best way to remove beaver teeth, and what suggestions to make out of them.
Good video. I could have used one of these on a beaver job I did last month. I'll have to try building one for myself.
Since the bottom of the float is open what keeps the beaver from just swimming under to get the lure? Thanks.
Not sure but they don't seem to do it. I think the opening just looks to inviting for them.
Looks good. I'm going to build one for myself. What are the dementions, please. Thank you.
im making one. excellent.
Not bad that would work ! Nice ! When water get into the woods is it still going to float?
Use smaller screws for the coni holder. Or I see a punctured glove or deep scratch in your future
Do u just use lure or do u make a caster mound or willow also
Do you use speed dip on beaver traps or use spray paint.i heard u can use spray on beaver traps.
I use a mix of 1 part black tremcladf paint and 5 parts high test gas. Dip and hang well before the season so the gas evaporates and you are good to go.
How you making out these days Dave
Do you do that with your conibears for fisher and martin too
Ya Chad, I do that with all my traps. Even my wolf rams. But generally it only has to be done every second year it seems.
Dave would this work with a 220?
That is one heck of a float ! Are you going to put grass or weeds through the mesh to help camouflage it?
I did that last year on a few but then tried it witout and it did not seem to make any difference.
I have build one with slots like marten box and full végétation screen on bottom fake castor mounted in far end it looks like floating island and suit case catch
Franky Hayhurst made them but he used 3/4 inch plywood
Ya lots of different ways. Never was keen on plywood in the water though. Doesn't last long.
could you share the dimensions?
Instead of buying speed dip every year for Yote leg hold traps that i use for dirt hole sets would tremclad with gas work
How many beaver will it take to pay for one of those contraptions and you're going to build a few.
How did they perform?
These floats work wonders in the spring when the water is fluctuating alot.
someone's bored
LOL... You know me to well.
How's it going Dave
Good Lorne.... you killing much these days?
+Trapping World not right now in Winnipeg for my oldest daughters grad.Got a little work coming up nothing major.
Good job. I've been watching long enough to know that some one is going to report you for putting out a set out of season.
LOLOL...oh ya for sure Dan.
Thanks.....
