I've made up dozens of snares & drowning slides but sometimes I can afford to just let loose of a few bucks for quality and consistency, so you go Stu! 👍That said I don't cook my own steaks or hamburgers so YMMV. btw, a pal staked a 'coon set next to a tree. The critter climbed the tree and pulled the stake pretty much straight up & out. Neither it or the rap was ever recovered. IMO nothing beats tying off to a tree etc for many sets and wire's ok but it's work. 😕
Hey Stu I’m A teenager and I want to get into trapping my property has 4 dogs on it but a bunch of coons and k9s and a pond what do you recommend for sets and bait thanks for listening
Hi as always good video maybe you can answer my question, I have been watching your channel for a few years now and although I grew up hunting and fishing and the like I never tried trapping other that floating down the river at night and spotting some raccoons up in the trees while looking for deer, So my question is what journey does the pelt make after you have sold it to whoever buys the critter? I mean I would love a raccoon coat like the olden days or a beaver hat but I just don't see people garnering them in public anymore , So does the skin get the fir taken off and just the skin used? If so why worry about the hair on the back of a coon being worn down from rubbing during mating season? So Can you have a short tutorial on the journey of a pelt and what becomes of it and is it so important to have great hair on it I can understand mink or sable But coon Skunk and muskrat I don't see people wearing abroad nowadays Thanks Joe.
In Quebec the guys have been using cables for a long time. We have too much snow in trapping season for earth Anchors lol. I will use the slide at the end of the noose idea from your video though… very good trick!
I mostly use the anchoring system you described. My one challenge with Raccoons is they will climb up the tree they are anchored to go around a branch and use the weight of their body and hang pulling themselves free from from the dog proofs. Any suggestions?
VAN WERT COUNTY, Ohio - In the six days since a break-in at Lion Farms USA in Van Wert, Ohio, released about 40,000 mink into the surrounding fields, local farmers said the animals have been nothing but a terror to local livestock.
Might consider using a quick clip at the anchor point for body grip traps so you can quickly detach the trap in case you accidently get caught in the trap while slipping and sliding around in a muddy creek setting a beaver trap. Those traps are very dangerous and almost impossible to get out of without help, think safety.
Same thing that stops people from making their own cars, convenience! Traps are simple and can be recreated easily but why create a trap and spend all of that time constructing dozens of traps when there are suppliers with pre made traps.
If it was April this would be an EPIC JOKE ! Impact on the industry 😂 You just built an extension cable that everyone has been using forever ! Sad day to see Dakota sell out to Probst

Glad your putting out videos more often
I've been using a cable setup just like that for several years now on many different traps. It works great.
Me too.
Sounds like a great well thought out system.
That looks like the way to go thanks for sharing with us
Great addition to the level sling stu. 👍
Just bought some of your beaver drowning cables. Looks like a great piece of equipment going to be setting out some beaver traps soon.

Good stuff !
Thanks bro!
Great idea very efficient bro. Ordering a dozen today.
A beaver trapper told me he'd run the cable threw a old beer can opener, n the opener would slide down but not up.
I dig it.
SUPER COOL!!!
Ordered me a 1/2 dozen drowning cables they look like they are well designed and better than I could make

Just from reading this, I'd use less cable and look for trees with less low branches? Just my 0.02 FWIW

Can not drag set in Michigan.
Anyone else have a problem ordering these? My state doesn't allow, but I've bought many other traps and shipped them here with no issue. Any ideas?
If I live in your area call I pick them up from you by chance? If not, I'll be ordering some soon

tbh I think i could've explained this video in 15 seconds not 15 minutes.

Nothing new
