this was one of the best arcade racing games, Flawless controls, awesome mechanics, Great locations and variety of vehicles and a sense of speed hardly matched
I played this game for the Xbox and the Xbox 360, one of my absolute favorites growing up. The previous game Burnout 3 Takedown is just as awesome too.
This game introduced me to some of the coolest things I've ever seen as an 11 year old. Epic takedown racing, Infinite Nos, and Bullet For My Valentine ❤️
Burnout Revenge and Burnout 3 are, in my opinion, the greatest car-based arcade racers ever made. The game play is addictive, the track design is superb, and the sound design is crazy good. Burnout 3 added Takedowns, arguable the best/most exciting mechanic a car racing game series ever introduced. Burnout Revenge offers some of the most interesting track layouts in it's genre as well. These games will forever be cherished classics.
Games like Blur and Split/Second are also very impressive too, I'd even say Split/Second's Power Play system is actually more inventive than the Takedown system in Burnout, but the car battling is still unmatched in Burnout. Probably because the Power Plays in S/S aren't directly controlled from your car's physics/driving like the Takedowns but rather a mechanic activated by the push of the button. The Power Plays still provide a fun challenge though, because things like timing still are accounted for, and the flashy excitement of using them is still spectacular. These games "be lit" as they say lmao
Anyone else notice how the second you upscale these games from 480p to 1080p they look like modern games? They really need to make a pack of remastered Burnout games just like Paradise that includes Burnout 1, 2, 3, Revenge, and even Legends and Dominator.
3 Takedown & Revenge got way more attention than the other Burnout series. So i prefer 3 Takedown & Revenge be remaked ONLY IF EA wanted to, because EA only think about money & NFS
They'll never get remaster/remakes for resale because they don't wanna pay for the music licenses. That's literally it. That's why we've never had true Tony hawk remakes. GTA gets away with it cause they got the money for it
@@GSXP Hell even Rockstar goes back and removes songs from their games because they don't want to keep up the licences. They patched GTA 4 recently and did just that.
if we ever did get an HD collection, we need all the songs mashed up into the same soundtrack, plus the choice of gameplay & HUD styles. That way, we got so much replayability and kickass tunes in 1 game!
Keep in mind though it is running on an emulator with a boosted framerate and resolution and whatnot. At 480p 30fps it probably was a bit less impressive.
19:31 I love how, after a short moment of silence, the Crashbreakers shock wave rips everything away and the overdriven, explosive sound conveys the feeling of unbridled power.
One of the best features of this game was keeping track of who took you out. Joining a game with somebody who crashed you in a previous race added so much to it.

I still have a ps2 slim, but I regret throwing out my fat ps2. I threw it out because it stopped reading discs, which was probably a dirty or junk laser that could’ve been easily fixed.

I remember playing the Burnout games back in the day when they were released, and I was amazed at what Criterion could pull off with the PS2 hardware; excellent quality graphics at such a high speed and framerate. It still looks great until this day, given the resolution bump. Cheers!
Looks like there are a lot of visual effects via software in that game, because hardware rendering makes it look more like other PS2 games while I got *damn stunned* when played it on my actual PS2 a while ago… well, still looks fine.
