    What a fantastic video (audio maybe not so much ha ha) and awesome still photos. Great job, and I know a LOT of work to produce it. I drove the Shafer Trail and Pot Ash road this past Sept, 2020 in my F-150 4x4. I saw part of the White Rim Road from a couple of the CanyonLands overlooks. I tried to find where they were from your video perspective but couldn't tall where they were. I was really surprised at how much traffic there was and blown away with how many bicyclists there were riding the road. I would have loved to driven that road but I understand it takes a couple of days to complete the drive and I don't have any camping gear. A couple of areas looked a little tight for my F-150 but I see others seem to have made it through OK. Looking forward to viewing Part 2. Many thanks for posting and sharing.

    horsethief camp!!! miss it so much. I know this sounds crazy but I've always wanted to hike/backpack white rim road. My husband and I drove it on our honey moon. It would be so lovely to do on foot and really take it all in. thank you for this

      I made it down through all of the Shafer Trail switchbacks with my 2029 Ford F-150 Platinum Crew Cab without any problems. On a couple of them I had the steering cranked all the way. I was more concerned about traffic coming the other way.

    What was the tire pressure you ran at?

    • @33jethro
      @33jethro  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      50 P.S.I. hard and smooth...I have never lowered my tire pressure, even in sand. If you carry a portable compressor there is no problem. I prefer to pick my track and rely on my winch if I get stuck...share some photos and videos when you do this!

    • @Raptorman0909
      @Raptorman0909 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@33jethro -- I'd suggest running lower pressure, in the 20psi range, to improve traction and reduce the bumps you feel. So long as you're careful to avoid hitting rocks too fast that could cause a pinch flat, lower pressure could reduce flats from pointy and sharp edged rocks. Lower pressure will increase fuel consumption, but not by much. The guys that do this often routinely air down off-road then air up on pavement.

    Every time I watch this I get queasy. Some of the road looks very narrow, did your FJ scrape the side at all? I know you mentioned gas to one of the other users, but I have 2016 Trail 4Runner that has a 23 gallon tank, think it will be enough? I f-ing love these vids and the music you put to them! I can't wait to do this!

    • @33jethro

      23 gals should be enough!

    • @33jethro
      @33jethro  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      never scraped once...but it certainly was expected...dented a rock rail on the climb up murphy's hogback

    This is awesome! Question, can you get back with 2wd?

    • @33jethro
      @33jethro  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      During the 100 miles (2 day) trip, I saw (1) unic (2wd)... That guy was struggling in places but he made it through...if the weather goes south (heavy rain) 2wd would NOT get you out...4wd heavily suggested
      Have fun...thanks for watching

    about how many miles did you cover in Canyonlands? so I know how much gas I might need

    • @johnjohnson8601
      @johnjohnson8601 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The white rim road is approximately 100 miles...I left from horse thief camp at 5:30 am and traveled 50 miles
      to Murphy's Hogback (Day One)
      The next morning I took off at 9:00 am and I was just a few miles down the highway from my start at horse thief camp around 3 in the afternoon...I stopped and took a lot of pictures both days plus the time it took to change batteries in the go pros...I was carrying a roof mounted 50 gal gas tank and never needed it until the end

    • @johnjohnson8601
      @johnjohnson8601 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used 14 gallons in 2 days on the WWR. I carried an extra 15 and did not need it

      John Johnson I plan on leaving Moab early in the morning and starting at Schafer trail. Going to do the trail clockwise, spending one night in the canyon. I’m not an overlander, gonna sleep on the back seat of the truck lol next week is last day of work then I’m off to Utah for one week.
