    If I’m putting new valves in my head and using original valve seats and guides. would it seal up good without grinding? As long as Seats and guides are in good shape. I’m just curious it’s my first time rebuilding a engine. It’s a 95 tbi 5.7 with vortec heads and an edelebeock avs2 4bbl.

    That's not valve "grinding", it's valve LAPPING. Grinding is a completely different process, used to angle the sealing surfaces and backside of the valve. Lapping is just to make sure each valve seals to its seat.

    I have a 1995 k1500, the year before the vortec heads, and a 1996 c1500 as a parts truck with a 305 5.0 vortec. I have rebuilt my 1995 but the difference between the two motors is really very little

      Jacoby Noctis The TBI heads didn’t breathe as well as the Vortec heads but the TBI heads were much more durable and didn’t have the notorious cracking issues. I have a 1995 K2500 TBI . More durable and easier to service compared to the 96-up Vortec.

    You warn the viewer to use a magnet to remove the valve retainers because fingers could be damaged if the spring compressor fails.... yet you simply use fingers to re-fit the retainers!!! Otherwise, nice video!

      This is a 350 5.7L small block Chevy cylinder head rebuild video. We show how to check and lap valves, how to clean the cylinder heads, and how to install the valves seals. While we did this on a 1996 GMC Sierra K1500, this process is essentially the same on all small block Chevrolet engines. +Mr.GIVEAWAY

    Didnt even check valve guides. A proper rebuild they would have replaced the valves, springs and had the head pressure test and machined.

    Beehive springs

    • @fredandersen9873
      @fredandersen9873 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Beehive sprins are only necessary if running a higher lift cam with vortec heads. They're completely unnecessary with a reasonable cam.

  • @No0bZiLLa420
    @No0bZiLLa420 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    you didnt show how to actually rebuild the head though. you just showed us how to take the valves out and put them back in. rebuilding the head requires new valve guides and seals which you didnt cover in this video. you should change the title because i just watched most of this video to get an idea of what i need to do, but turns out i have wasted my time watching this video because it does not show you how to actually rebuild the head.
