- In todays video I will take you through an extremely fast and professional method of cleaning cylinder heads and engine blocks. I recently figured out this trick for removing old MLS and graphite gaskets on this L96 6.0L Ls engine I am working on

Light sratches will not hurt the cyl head. Only deeper gouges will hurt it.

I've heard that La's Totally Awesome cleaner works good on cylinder heads.
Definitely does, you can see it come off as you spray it on
Thanks for the tip! I will try this next time. I just finished resurfacing my 5.3 862 aluminum cylinder heads and now I have to do the block, do I have to resurface the deck also or just clean it up really really good before putting the heads on? It’s a cast iron block btw and I’m using ARP cylinder studs not bolts
Clean the block up in the same fashion!
Leave it dry. Use a high speen round brass bristle brish. Using chemicals just makes a mess.
Imagine how much easier it would be with the right chemicals and scrapers than using this sub par method. Most people are ignorant to what cleaning an engine block consists of anyway which is the internal oil galleries and coolant jackets.
what are "the right chemicals" to use on aluminium heads?

I use plastic razors. no metal on metal here.
