    Lalonde is not the coach for this team. The problems lie within the roster as well, but Lalonde ain’t it. I watch Florida a lot, the problems with the Wings become so much more apparent when watching a much better team. Tired of Detroit sucking.

      Yeah I am not going to say anything bad about him but Lalonde has taken this team as far as he can . This has been obvious for a couple weeks now - it is not going to get better . Yeah there are some real flaws in this roster but they have cashed it in on this coach . I've been following this team since 1970 and this is tough to watch .

    Gru has at MAXIMUM, 10 more games. If theyre playing like this a quarter of the way through this season then he has quite obviosuly lost the locker room. If hes preaching something then theyre sure as hell not listening. Also you should be maleable to your roster. This team cant play how he wants. Flat out, and they need to change the system, or the personel.

    Working for draft lottery this early seems a little harsh. Kane on defense- no. DeBrincat on defense? No. Terrasinko on defense? No. Could you be softer on the puck? Can you imagine someone like Craig Barube coaching this team? But you have nothing in minors to fix this. Even our 6’-7” winger Soderblom is soft on puck. I’d rather watch hard grinders give 110% than watch soft hockey. When was the last time wings had more shots than opponent? Realistic this team is worse than 4 years ago. Those teams at least tried to grind but Kane and Terrasenko simply will not play defense or grind.

    Lalonde lost the team a long time ago, after the deadline last year. This team is way better on paper than they are playing. Bring in a new coaching staff, I can deal with not making playoffs again or even being bottom 10 but not like this. This is sad and boring to watch, same mistakes over and over. I understand trying to play good team defense but the offense is pathetic. Dump and chase every single god damn time.

    If this team is still playing like this at the end of November and Newsy hasn’t made adjustments to the systems than Newsy is the problem. Yes, he has roster issues but he also has a very capable offensive group that if unleashed can put up points. They’d be better served in a more run and gun possession entry style of hockey IMO. They have legitimate goal scorers and playmakers. Give them some leash.
    A good coach/leader/manager/supervisor/foreman, etc., understand the manpower they possess and what those individuals are capable of both individually and collectively. You have to fashion your strategies/tactics based on the tools you have on hand. It seems like Newsy is trying to force this group into a play style that he just doesn’t have all of, or enough of, the necessary tools. In my opinion that mostly equates to our lack of quality defensemen and power forwards.

    Just admit it, the D trades (in and out) has been disastrous, far below what is acceptable.
    Most of us could not understand the Walman trade at all when it happened, now it looks even worse.
    I know they had to manage the fact that they had too many D men on the roster, but that was not the trade to make at that price AND management had put themselves in a very bad position due to a constant flow of bad, strange singings on the D.
    Time to call it what it is: a complete fiasco and a display that management does not know how to put a D core in place to put it mildly.

Perron missed as a leader for sure - keep hearing it’s a quiet lock room that’s not good. Agree that players like Kane showing some frustration between lines of their public comments. I don’t think coach has what it takes - starting to think best to make a change sooner than later or make major move to bring in 2nd line D or power forward to save the season. Said last year this team lacks a true identity - we look soft, slow and uninterested! What a mess - if Sat game is ugly could be time for a change!!

    Lots of interesting comments on here on this episode.
    I am happy with how our young players are developing which will be very important. Don’t know where that result is all on. Better picking and evaluating? Good development on the way up? Good interactions during practices by coaches to show what to work on and how to get better at it?
    Hard to tell. That being said, if the youth infusion wasn’t so important I would move on from LaLonde. Tough balance because I don’t want a Babcock type that doghouses young players and destroys their development. Think Lalonde may be the development coach and someone else comes in to bring them over the hump.

    Best thing to do is remove the most solid defenseman on the Wings. Maybe we should get rid of small, non-gritty forwards that can shoot. One trick ponies for sure. The wings have nothing that would worry me if I was an opposing forward. Like it or not Matta was one of your best. Trading “The Griddy” Walkman for nothing was horrible. Now try figuring out how Trouba’s contract was supposed to fit into this nightmare? Making matters worse, you have no assets that are tradable. No value at all, anywhere! Cap space? Sure, get rid of usable assets for salary cap space for???? Nothing. Maybe Wings are trying to snag top 3 pick. This lineup blows, big time. No hockey team is softer on the puck than Wings. Stop giving excuses for this trash! 4 super small soft shooters on top two lines? Even worse, even your 6’5” Rasmussen is softer than DeBrincat. How is that possible?

    I can 100% promise you that the Red Wings will end up having to trade Dylan Larkin. Maybe not this year, but this team clearly needs a rebuild 2.0 The main concern at the moment is we really have no high end forward prospects and unless we magically get another top 3 pick this year then that trend will continue. Larkin will legit be 32-33 years old when our window is actually open at the pace of our prospects and just won't be useful. It sounds insane but trading Larkin might be the smartest thing LONG TERM. I'd rather just 100% commit to Raymond and Seider then try to force Larkin window. Also Larkin genuinely deserves a shot on a cup contender type team and playoff hockey. I was and the 70s too - and this is absolutely brutal . I haven't finished watching a game yet this year. I don't even care if they lose as long as they play entertaining brand of hockey - and this team has shown none of that this year. Something is broken on this team .

    I'm not trying to be a full blown doomer but i think something huge needs to happen to shake up the organization. either fire yzerman, fire lalaonde, trade larkin, idk man, something crazy needs to happen to wake this team up. i was at the game last night and that 6-2 loss was hard to watch

      Did you honestly think we had any chance going into that game against the top of the league? I guess you didn't actually listen to the podcast. Short term panic fixes ruin the long term success. You may not like it but crazy reactionary decisions win you dumb prizes.

    Trade for 2 huge Probert style grinders. At least they’ll remind opposing teams not to skate downhill. We’re watching trash and it will not get better?

    Sandin-Pellika won't be in a Red Wing uniform until 2026, but could be here IF he's outstanding next fall for the Griffins after a couple of months. Remember that he's 19 for most of this year (i.e., season), so being 20 years old for 2025-26 is about right as goes Yzerman's plan for D-man development. But I hope he's up next December (2025).

      Making the jump from SHL to NHL isn't unheard of. I feel he can be the same caliber of a player as Seider and Raymond. So don't be too sure cuz he could make that jump sooner rather than later.

      @PhilipJBernardi หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Septembersmith9633 I don't disgree, but a couple of months with the Grifs might be of benefit. Mo played in GR as a 18yr old then played in SHL as 19yr old then made the Wings out of camp. Axel playing NHL style hockey for a few months will help, but if he blows everyone away at next year's camp then he probably stays with the team. Fingers crossed.

    Yzerman brought in Patrick Kane and Alex Debrincat, what are you talking about with Yzerman not giving the coach a roster to work with? Maybe Lalonde isn't a good coach and his systems aren't ment for this league and there's nothing wrong with that (he's not good at his job). Terrible take. This isn't the same team from 2019/Covid season

      You have 2 and a half nhl defenseman, and the bottom 6 is atrocious. This roster is as much of the problem as the coach. The yzerstans need to open their dam eyes. This is on him.

      Full rebuild lmao we already have danielson nygard cossa pellikka in the pipeline waiting . Kasper and edvinsson just starting ... and we’ll probably add a top 10 pick this season ... what more you want?? Now we just gotta be patient and I’m sure Yzerman will make a trade for a 24-26 year old of impact

    • @BrentNinedorf
      @BrentNinedorf หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If Kasper and Danielson pan out, you have Center depth we haven’t had in forever. Sandin Pellikka looks like a stud which gives a solid top three on D with potential with Johansson. Lots of complimentary D potential still with Buium, Wallinder. Bottom D pairing guys are pretty easy to pick up. Wingers are easier to get in free agency than Centers.

    I'm done with Yzerman and his Yzerplan! He's had how many seasons now to make this team competitive and all he has managed is to go out in the off season and pick up slug hockey players!

    • @edenisburning
      @edenisburning หลายเดือนก่อน

      He needs to stop hiring his buddies and focus on building a great pro scouting staff, because this team's Achilles heel is their pro scouting. It shouldn't be understated how the Wings never got a top of the draft player through their whole rebuild. The draft lottery really hurt Detroit. Not just in us never getting a lottery pick. The Wings got leapfrogged and bumped back 2-3 spots almost every season.

    • @mattl2642
      @mattl2642 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @edenisburning the lottery luck sucked no doubt. But it was Steve's decision to hit the gas prematurely. Instead of going out and signing copp and chiarot when they did, we should've tanked at least 1 more year to really bolster the prospect pool. Could have had another top 5 pick on the roster instead of a string of 10th + picks

    • @edenisburning
      @edenisburning หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @mattl2642 agreed 100%. I think he felt the pressure and moved away from his own plan. When he told the fans this is going to take a while but I want to do it right, we were all like.. hell yeah. They need to start expediting these prospects, too. They let Brandsegg-Nygard go back to the SHL when it was obvious he was ready for the NA game. Yzerman has to be tough and say no, we want you in the AHL this year. My biggest criticism is that Steve has signed way too many roadblocks keeping the youth from playing. Berggren should have been in the NHL since his rookie breakout shortened season. He'd be further along. Edvinsson should have played all last season, he'd be further along. I'm with ya, I'm frustrated. But these bad contracts are almost all gone and he did sign the key guys like Raymond and Seider and Larkin to extremely team friendly deals. In a few years, this team might be something. But I can't help but feel like we're going to have to bottom out again for a season before that happens. Like when the Avs sucked and drafted MacKinnon. Maybe we go all in youth next year and tank for McKenna lol. I'd be down with an awful year if it ended with Gavin McKenna in a Wings jersey.

    • @Septembersmith9633
      @Septembersmith9633 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @edin
      How drunk are you? The SHL is arguably top 5 most competitive league in the world and they train on NA ice rinks. If MBN and ASP come over to GR next year what's the issue? Also in what world as a pro GM do you force teenagers to give up their family friends and education to come play in a unfamiliar country full of ungrateful fans? I would consider Axel and Raymond the same caliber of player so the jump in leagues isn't unheard of. Petry, Husso, Kane, Maataa will all be off the books as well as some of the small 1mil deals. You won't really need to sign any big contracts. Maybe fill the 2nd/3rd right D pairing and someone to replace Kane if he doesn't resign. The problem was people thought this year was supposed to be a playoff caliber team but it really was just a presumptuous ambition at best from the fans.

      I feel like his age really has caught up with him. The sentiment was there in the signing and he probably wanted to retire in his home state but there's no way he can sustain any level of compete so the hypothetical value of his right shot has gone out the window sadly.
