Thank you for making these videos. Mechanic shop told me 1200 dollars to do it. It took me 5 1/2 hours and 90 dollars in parts and got it filled up with Freon for 50 dollars so a total of 140 bucks. You saved me a lot of money. And anyone scared to do it just do it it’s not that bad. Mine is a 4 door so the vents that run to the back are a little aggravating but you have 3 Phillip head screws in the middle and once you take those out it comes out easy but the vents on the side at the bottom are still a little hard.
DAVE, YOU ARE THE MAN! After replacing everything else for the AC unit, over the past 6 years, I was dreading this job on a Laramie w/ center console because I could never fix a leak. I kick myself for not doing this sooner, since the evap had 4 holes in it (disgusting mess and 3/4 blocked up). I was able to do this work over a weekend, took a bit longer because I wiped down/vaccumed all the dust and debris from everything. My advice to anyone, BE CAREFUL with the steering column drop, I was removing by myself and the dash tilted left and snapped off my washer stalk (left side of steering wheel). Other than that, it was just time consuming. Appreciate the video!
I have a 4500 that I've now done brakes on (after buying the $400 of Mopar special tools) by watching Dave's videos, and today I replaced the heater core (pulled dash etc). So far Dave has saved me about $3600 this year alone. I worked as a mechanic for 10 years but to have these clear, concise, to-the-point videos is a game changer. Phenomenal videography, lighting, sound, etc coupled with a professional explanation of how to tackle these jobs! Thanks Dave!!!
This is honestly the most useful “how-to” video I’ve ever seen. It saved me many hours and many costly mistakes in doing this job myself at work. Well done, and thank you!
I was looking at a $1000 bill to replace the recirculating door motor, and then found your video. This is one of the most professional and well done videos I have seen. Your explanation is clear and well thought out as well as easy to follow. Excellent job two thumbs up.
Many thanks Dave for those kind words. It takes alot of time to do videos like this and I am glad that it helps people like yourself especially when it comes to saving money. Thanks again and make sure to subscribe if you havent already.
Thank you so much for this. Saved me so much money! Needed to repair the evaporator so my kids weren't breathing R134A everytime we went out. It was my first time and I got it done in about 4 hours. I also had the full length center console and shifter to remove. Really appreciate your attention to detail and tips. Rear air vents held me up getting the air box out (quad cab,) but once I figured that out I was good to go. Thanks again!
Thanks for the informative video series. Used it to replace evaporator and heat exchanger on my 1500 Laramie. There was a few extra steps to remove center console and vents but for the most part this covered what was needed. Don’t think I would have attempted without this video series
Your videos Sir, are superb. Verbal instruction, camera angels (+focus!), lighting, thoroughness and final editing are bar none! I ended up here trying to figure out how to remove the passenger side dashboard end-cap (without breaking or boogering it up!) to run a dash-cam charging cable. Probably never would have attempted it without your help. Wow, what a professional production. Keep it up man, I'm sure you're helping thousands of people. I wish all instructional videos were as concise as yours. Best wishes.
Hey man, just want to say thank you for making this video series. I watched them about 10 times and it gave me the confidence to try this jobs myself since it is such an expensive job. I am glad to report that I got it done and it went relatively smooth. I saved myself at least $1,200 doing it. Thanks man, much appreciated👊🏼🙌🏼
That’s awesome. With how expensive everything is these days…..$1200 isn’t a joke and I’m sure it could be used for something else. Thanks for following the channel and for the comment
Thank you so much for this four-part video series! I replaced the heater core in my 2016 RAM 2500 yesterday, and these videos helped quite a bit. I did it without disconnecting / discharging the AC. Using your videos to see what the back of the housing looks like was helpful, as getting back there was nearly impossible.
Thank you for this! Saved me a bunch of money. I did it with a broken arm (seriously). The hardest part was the pesky floor vents (crew cab) and getting the clamps back on the heater core tubes. Couldn’t have done it so quickly had I not watched these videos. I think it took me about two hours to get the dash and heater box out. Would have been nice if there was a plug for the center harness to remove the dash completely. Thank you, again.
Thank you David! My son in law and I watched this 4 part video and followed it exactly and it made it so easy! We had ac blowing in leass than 3 hrs. We dreaded doing this job. You made it sooo easy. Keep the videos coming my friend!
Just replaced my Heater Core on my 2011 Ram 1500. Did it in about 2 1/2 hours. THIS VIDEO IS AMAZING!! It is clear…easy to follow. I removed my dash w/o any issues. Heater is working w/o coolant odors. 😊
I just pulled my box and replaced the evaporate and heater core. What else can be said that isn't said in the other comments. THANKS FOR THIS FANTASTIC VIDEO. I got 2 estimates for the repair 1st was $2,600.00 + parts and the $3,100.00 +parts. And I felt really didn't want to do the job. Thanks again.
Fantastic video! Gave me a real heads up of what I was getting into and I walked right through the task on hand. Had it done in less than 4 hours thanks to you!
Great job and my hats off to you for taking it on. Appreciate the update and feedback. Thanks for finding the video and make sure to subscribe. Enjoy the weekend.
@@MotorCityMechanic hi thanks for your help! Got a 2013 5500 cab and chassis crew with floor console with 4x4 shifter. Does it need to be removed? Any other tips as far as ductwork on a crew? Thanks! Bryant
Way he’d all four of your series for this job and I must say it was very easy to understand and you explained things very very well. Also you showed everything in the video very very well! Good job, thanks!
well it took all my weekend but I did it! mad love to Dave/motor city mechanic for taking the time for noobs like myself who aren't the typical every day DIY when it comes to working on cars. Dave my man, u saved me about $800 by making this video. I took "Beast Nasty" to my mechanic today to recharge the system & check for leaks...waiting for the verdict was nerve racking. But I got the thumbs up! All good to go! It's been 2 long summers since I last felt my truck shooting out cold a/c. & knowing that I did it was gratifying & made all the frustrating moments like looking for that last hidden nut on the firewall being the engine controller, trying to disconnect the heater hose w/ absolutely no wiggle room, & cramming the AC ducts/vents back in place worth it! You don't have to be a pro to do this guy's, just takes time, patience & of course the right tools.
Awesome. I appreciate the update. Its just nuts and bolts. Just knowing in what order to take things apart is usually the main thing. I am glad that the videos that I make are helpful and that they do what I hope they would.....inspire confidence. People get scared of dash work for some reason. Its clean and you get to sit down at some points during the repair haha. Thanks again for the comment.
thank you for doing this series and I'm glad it was on a diesel. Wish it was a Laramie with the center console but I survived and when you said on a diesel two negatives and on a gas disconnect 1 I had to stop and re-watch your hand because I, for a moment, thought you used the middle finger for 1 lol.
Just wanted to say thanks for this series of videos. I had to install a wiring harness into a 2015 Dodge Ram truck. The dashboard and steering column had to be removed. Your instructional videos saved my ass! Thanks again! John in Buffalo NY
I just had to replace the heater core (and evap core) on my 2010. It has a 5.7 hemi and the full center console. Despite the differences, your video was HUGELY helpful. Can't thank you enough. Had I not seen the video, I wouldn't have taken on the project.
Awesome.....Always great to hear feedback on the videos! I do need to do a video on the console removal so that I have all aspects covered. Thanks again and make sure to subscribe if you havent already
The center console was a bit tricky to get out. I ended up taking the seats out, mostly just to give myself more room to work. There are two bolts low down on the console near the rear that are a bit tight to get to. I probably could've fussed with it and managed, but I opted not to. Removing the gear shift linkage was a bit tricky too. The other notable difference was under the hood. In your video, the diesel you were working on had a coolant reservoir mounted on the firewall. On the hemi the coolant reservoir is up beside the rad. In its place though is an ignition/control module (I think). It had to be removed from the firewall to get at one of the two stud/nuts protruding through the firewall. Still though, your video was a huge help. Thunbs up!
JJ MacLellan you make a video on how to remove the center cinsole by any chance? I have a laramie as well do need to remove the center console m, then the dash just to replace the evaporator.
Thanks for the great helpful video. Was nice to see what was waiting for me under that dash lol. Easy to get to the box...but what a mess trying to rebuild the box without destroying it 😂 thanks again. Great video and very useful. Been a tech over 40 years...these are much better than the older trucks.
Bryan HECKE SR. Some say it’s like taking the entire truck apart and I shake my head because I think it’s easier then a lot of them and very “modular”. Thanks for watching and for the comment. Make sure to subscribe
Payment is in thank you's and some money from TH-cam. Not enough to quit my day job lol. Thanks for watching and for the kind words. Make sure to subscribe and check out my other videos.
Very detailed and well narrated. First time doing the job and could not have gone smoother. I can tell because its all back together now and everything works great. Thanks bud.
Such a great detailed series, saved me so much time. Had a few extra parts I had to remove on my Laramie crew cab but this helped so much. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos.
Dude my 2013 1500 Hemi has been the bane of my existence. Long story short - flushed coolant, replaced t-stat, flushed heater core... still no heat on driver's side. Took dash off, verified mode door operation and recirc door. I'm at a total loss here. Coolant level is good, and aside from ripping the whole box out and visually inspecting heater core and all doors, I don't know what to do!!!!!! This video will get me there but it's tough working in thew winter with no heat :D
@@doubledsgarageandco.3518 Yes, I pulled the whole dash and airbox to replace the heater core. Pain in the ass but it's doable. The worst part is getting at the coolant lines. Sold my truck in the Summer and solved all the issues for good!! Good luck
Getting ready to tackle mine in a 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 this weekend, this is by far the best instructional video I have ever seen!!!! Keep up the good work motor city man!!!!🤙🤙
Take your time Terry and you shouldnt have any issues. Just make sure to double check the brake lights when done....worse case you need a new brake pedal switch. Otherwise follow the video and you will do fine. Let me know your thoughts when your done and make sure to subscribe.
I live in az so when the heater core went out my mechanic could shoveling that 1575 up they ass lol . Ac evaporator went out , they deserve every penny .
Another successful repair! I have been getting alot of comments about that series. Glad that I decided to film it because it seems alot of people were needing that info. Appreciate you finding and watching it. Make sure to subscribe and check out my other videos as well.
Great series. Just for clarification, if I'm just trying to replace the actuator for the recirculation door, I don't need to go any further than pulling the dash ( part 2)?
This video is a massive help, I have a question, I have to replace my heater core and I figured since I’ll have the hvac box out I might as well replace everything while it’s out, what all parts are attached to the hvac box that I would have to replace
About the only thing I would replace if I was going for the "so I dont have to later" would be the evaporator. Otherwise nothing else really thats common enough to justify the added expense. Thanks for asking and make sure to subscribe.
This series of videos helped me understand s as great deal more. I was hoping you could do another one though, kinda s follies up to tearing down a specific model. I have a 2014 mega cab dual setup. And my particular problem is no heat to the defrost only, and barely any heat to the dash or feet. My model has two actuators for the defrost and feet, and no connecting rod. I have yet to find any good info on what I have, but have narrowed down the issue…. Maybe.
Thumbs up on the video. OK first of mostly my fault. Could you please add Move the powers seat back as your first instruction before disconnecting the negative leads. By the time I realized it everything was unpluged and my driver seat was 2in to far forward to drop the steering column so I had to actually remove the steering column at the swivel joint to get it onto the floor. Was easy but just extra work I could have avoided.
Thank you so much for making this four-part video. I just got finished replacing my evaporator and I would not have been able to do it without your help. I drive a 2011 Ram 1500 ST model and I have a question for you. Ever since I got done putting everything back together yesterday I noticed my truck down shifts a little bit harder than it did before. Do you have any idea why that might be happening?
What was the reason you change the evaporator coil my for 2012 doesn’t blow hard from the vents I’ve checked everything and don’t know what it could be
what's up MCM, other than a good socket set is there any other specific tools I'd need to do this & replace the evap core? & I've read a lot of articles on this & most say to replace the dryer & condenser along w/ a few other parts while I got everything taken apart. do you recommend that as well? Thanks!
Hey thank you for the awesome videos on this! Is this a similar procedure for the heater core? I would assume the heater core is in that same box as the AC unit that you changed, Would I still have to drain the Freon to change the heater core? Or could the heater core be removed while that box it's still in the truck? Thank you for your time
All the steps weill be the same except you dont have to seperate the box to get the heater core out....it slides out. You have to unbolt the box from the fire wall and pull it out the way....at that point it would be easiest to remove from the truck and remove the heatercore. Freon has to be removed as well. Thanks for asking and for watching. Make sure to subscribe.
If i smell a burning smell coming from my vents when the heater is on would this fix that issue ? I have a 2015 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi. Thank you in advance
Thank you so much for this video, I watched it several times before replacing the AC Condenser. Anyone could do this after watching your video, every single step is there to do the job. I have finished and the AC works great but now my traction control light on the lower right side if the instrument cluster is on. Did i forget to plug something in under the dash or pull something loose?
Went back out and checked the brake light switch. The back steering column bracket was moved toward the seat just enough i believe to have the break lights on while driving. I think this was causing the traction control problem. YOU SAID TO BE SURE TO CHECK THE BRAKE SWITCH and i thought i had. Double triple check.
I have 2014 Ram 1500. The AC when the truck is not moving, stop light etc blows warm air. The cool air starts again when rolling. It's 120 sometimes in the summer where I live. Not good. I took it to the dealer they charged me 160 for AC service and did nothing. Any ideas what that might be. I'd like to fix it. Thanks
I had some work done on my truck 5000 miles ago for hot A/C they replaced thermostat and fixed the A/C. Now i have done an oil change and it seems right after my truck is now blowing hot air again? What could it be? I just had the system worked on!
The brake switch may now be out of adjustment. You might won’t to remove it and pull the center plunger out and then reinstall and press the pedal to reset it. Worse case you may need to replace it if it’s the problem
I did replace the heater core following all the steps in those videos, but now i have 2 alarms electronic acceleration system and eletronic breaking system do i need to erase with the scanner codes or something is wrong thanks.???
Do you have a video on how to remove the center console? Mine is a 2009 laramie with center console. Im sure the center console needs to be removed before removing the dash
working on finishing my core replacement. got it all together and I have no radio volume. this is on a laramie with a amp ...im guessing I missed a plug but I can figure it out ??? any ideas?
Only thing I can recommend is rechecking all connections again. Sometimes some items dont like to be powered down and then dont want to start back up correctly.....its rare but happens once in a blue moon.
I have a 2015 Ram Ecodiesel.. I purchased the Geno's garage cabin filter kit. Should I replace my condenser as well considering it's been running unfiltered for 3 years or would you recommend just installing the filter kit? The AC currently works fine. By the way your videos are awesome I've used many of them for my truck!
Thanks for the kind words. If your not having any lack of air flow issues then I would touch the evaporator. Adding the cabin filter will help stop issues from happening but it doesnt sound like your having issues now so save that money and enjoy the truck. Thanks for watching the videos.
Hey motor city mechanic wanna say thx for extremely helpful video of 1500 ram evap replacement. I pulled the dash and put it back together there were some slight differences (ie theres a computer on the firewall not coolant resevoir) but overall it went well. However i did manage to trip abs and cel Also none of dash gages seem to work as well as radio and the wipers are on nonstop. Was wondering if u had any advice on the top of ur head i did pull 11 codes off scanner and will have to get back at it at lunch. There was one connector to the steering wheel i forgot to hook up. But still having issues with codes
Actually you dont. I have gotten it out after pulling the dash back....just need to be careful. Thanks for asking and make sure to subscribe. Sorry for the delay.
Have a quick question have a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 with a V6 AC stopped working and it had a weird smell inside the cabin and there's no pressure for the high and low side
If its no longer blowing cold air out and only warm air and your getting a smell......sounds like its low on freon or empty. I say that based on you saying there is no pressure on the high or low side. The smell leads more towards an evaporator leaking. Of course it will require some further checking to be sure but I feel its a good place to start looking. Thanks for watching and foe the comment. Dont forget to subscribe.
Hi, i need some help. There's a strong freon smell coming through my vents, can freon be leaking through this coil? And not tje outside one? The outside looks clean
how long do you think it takes just the remove the dash? I need to replace the recirculating housing so i only need to remove the dash. I am just trying to gauge how long it will take me.
i got the whole thing apart, i have a 2016 and i can't get to the back tabs to remove the recirc. housing. Ended up just replacing the flap door by itself. I have a laramie with center console. wow what a pain i prob have twice as much work at the tradesman you are working on. Thanks for your vids, ive subscribed. Cant wait for more cummins videos.
I will try to keep them coming lol. I have changed out just the door as well before. I had to think that one was more "under the firewall" then the previous version that you could sneak out.
Hi buddy..... I’m having an issue with my 2013 ram 5.7 I have 2 coils that are not receiving power I’ve changed them out and they start to work but then stop.. can you please give me an idea
Nothing is coming to mind at the moment. Its something I havent come across as of yet. I would have to check things in person to see if any thing obvious. Its one of those issues that doesnt translate well with trying to help out online, it requires hands on.
Juan Estrada removal of the dash and HVAC box to get to the actuator will be same steps. Take your time and it should go well. Thanks for watching and for the question. Don't forget to subscribe
Getting ready to do this on my 2012 Ram 1500, when I run the AC I can smell something funny in the car, kind of smells like refrigerant, does that mean that I have a leak in my evaporator core? I only smell it after I put another can of refrigerant in the truck. I know it's strange but the smell kind of smells like a farm animal, LOL
I have a 2013 ram 3500. my problem is poor air coming out of the vents. it did not have any cabin filter at all and the recirculation door does not appear to be damage. do you have another video that could help me out. do u know what it could be?
I did a video where I mentioned some common issues. I personally have a 2007 megacab and the air flow just straight out sucks and theres nothing I can do to help it. One question I have.....do you drive in dusty areas? I go over that question in the video as well. Here is a link and thanks for watching. Make sure to subscribe th-cam.com/video/hJb74BKU4VY/w-d-xo.html
I know it's something cause the other day suddenly the air came out strong and it was working fine for a few hours but then it stopped blowing hard and then it's was weak air coming out
If it happens all of a sudden then it could be a broken door or something else blocking the air flow. Just make sure you hear the blower working at the usual speed (sound) and then may take some looking behind the glove box at the air inlet for the cabin. The door issue isnt that common on the 2013 models however
The process is the same. I have since changed the title to reflect that, other then the thumbnail of course. Thanks for asking and make sure to subscribe!
It will be the same. The only difference is the under the hood items. You will have more room to work on the gas engines. There are only 2 nuts to remove under the hood. One behind the PCM and one that holds the PCM bracket to the firewall. I actually did one this morning. Thanks for watching and for the question. Don't forget to subscribe and share the videos
Couple questions....what size engine and also what have you replaced? I assume being the video is about the evaporator then evaporator but I dont want to just assume. Both questions will make a difference.
I brought my truck to the dealership 3 times untill it ran out of warranty. My poor wife doesn't get any air on her side. This is a factory defect. I told them that. They told my that it wasnt a safety problem so theres no recall on it. Thats their answer...
There is a good chance of an actuator or broken door. Recalls will be safety related the majority of the time. Its one of those things thats out of our hands and up to Chrysler to decide if it gets recalled. The government only regulates the safety related items. WIsh it wasnt that way but I have no power over that.
Juan Estrada If its the rear actuator then its sandwiched between the firewall and the HVAC box with no room to get to it.....so the box has to be removed to get to it
TH-cam made some changes and its not as easy to find anymore. If you look on the main channel page on the logo picture you will see the facebook, twitter, instagram logos and the paypal logo. The Paypal logo....if you click on it, will send you to where you can donate if you wish. Any donations are appreciated and welcomed. Thanks for asking and for the interest.
It usually starts with the a/c not cooling anymore due to a leak that eventually is narrowed down to the evaporator using either a freon leak detector/sniffer or a dye placed in the freon. Thats the most common reason for replacing. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe
Juan Estrada It's very possible. We run an actuator calibration test and a failed door will give us its location. But I don't expect most people to have that option.
Thank you for making these videos. Mechanic shop told me 1200 dollars to do it. It took me 5 1/2 hours and 90 dollars in parts and got it filled up with Freon for 50 dollars so a total of 140 bucks. I am glad that the videos that I make are helpful and that they do what I hope they would.....inspire confidence. People get scared of dash work for some reason. Its clean and you get to sit down at some points during the repair haha. Thanks again for the comment.
Great series on this repair. Excellent. I like that you aren't a hack and pay attention to detail. Thank you.
thank you for doing this series and I'm glad it was on a diesel.
That’s awesome. Glad I could help. Appreciate you reaching out to me to give me your feedback. Make sure to subscribe
Thank you for taking the time to produce this video. I hope you are compensated for your time
Payment is in thank you's and some money from TH-cam. Not enough to quit my day job lol. Thanks for watching and for the kind words. Make sure to subscribe and check out my other videos.
I also hope he was compensated, because if he's a mechanic and changing evaporators for free then he won't be in business long.
Very detailed and well narrated. First time doing the job and could not have gone smoother. I can tell because its all back together now and everything works great. Thanks bud.
Awesome. Once you have done one you will like to do more
Such a great detailed series, saved me so much time.
Did you ever get this fixed i am having the same issue?
@@doubledsgarageandco.3518 Yes, I pulled the whole dash and airbox to replace the heater core. Pain in the ass but it's doable. The worst part is getting at the coolant lines.
Sold my truck in the Summer and solved all the issues for good!!
Good luck
Thanks for the info 👍🏼
Excellent step by step explanation by David. Awesome

This guy is the goat!
Many thanks!
Thank you for your hard work and teaching.. it's great info God bless u and keep you in all your ways
good video thanks for sharing it helped me a lot I had that problem 2015 Dodge ram 2500 thank
Great video!!!!
Much appreciated!
Great mechanic
I live in az so when the heater core went out my mechanic could shoveling that 1575 up they ass lol . Ac evaporator went out , they deserve every penny .
Thank you for making these videos. I followed the steps and just finished the R&R on my evap coil.
What was the reason you change the evaporator coil my for 2012 doesn’t blow hard from the vents I’ve checked everything and don’t know what it could be
Awesome work! Thanks
Thanks Jorge! I appreciate the comment. Make sure to subscribe.
What a life saver. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your welcome! Thanks for checking the video out and make sure to subscribe.
what's up MCM,
other than a good socket set is there any other specific tools I'd need to do this & replace the evap core?
@@MotorCityMechanic thanks a million
@@carsonthomas2909 Your welcome!
Great video. Got a 2013 ram 5500 with a lower floor console and 4x4 shifter in the floor. Does it need to be removed to lower dash?
Great video. Really helped with heater core replacement!
Thanks
My 2012 needs an evaporator. I have the center console with the shifter. How much of that has to come out? Or does it just unscrew from the dash?
I had some work done on my truck 5000 miles ago for hot A/C they replaced thermostat and fixed the A/C. Now i have done an oil change and it seems right after my truck is now blowing hot air again? What could it be? I just had the system worked on!
Hard to say without checking it out. Not sure how a thermostat would fix an a/c issue.....heater not getting hot possibly but not a/c.
What do those suckers call for book time to replace with a center console?
Thank you sir! One question, in case my brake lights dont work after install everything back then what is the next step?
The brake switch may now be out of adjustment. You might won’t to remove it and pull the center plunger out and then reinstall and press the pedal to reset it. Worse case you may need to replace it if it’s the problem
@@MotorCityMechanic thank you sir
You saved my life!
I did replace the heater core following all the steps in those videos, but now i have 2 alarms electronic acceleration system and eletronic breaking system do i need to erase with the scanner codes or something is wrong thanks.???
nice videos man, appreciate the knowledge
Your welcome and I appreciate your comment and time spent watching the video. Make sure to subscribe and have a great weekend!
Do you have a video on how to remove the center console? Mine is a 2009 laramie with center console. Im sure the center console needs to be removed before removing the dash
I'm working on my 07 RAM. Having to remove its dash to get the HVAC case removed to replace several broken doors inside it.
How much would this cost to do if you have a 5.7 1500 with center console?
working on finishing my core replacement. got it all together and I have no radio volume. this is on a laramie with a amp ...im guessing I missed a plug but I can figure it out ??? any ideas?
Only thing I can recommend is rechecking all connections again. Sometimes some items dont like to be powered down and then dont want to start back up correctly.....its rare but happens once in a blue moon.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I believe you emailed me as well.....hope you get the reply email and thanks for the update
Would I have to remove the ac/ coolant lines to only remove the recirculation box? Thanks
Thank u

Hi, i need some help. There's a strong freon smell coming through my vents, can freon be leaking through this coil? And not tje outside one? The outside looks clean
Every time I turn on the ac it smells terrible, and its freon smell
Sounds like the evaporator is leaking inside the hvac box. It can fail and most likely the cause of the smell.
My money is on the evaporator.
@@MotorCityMechanic thanks. That's what you replacing on this video, right?
Your welcome......it sure it.
If I have a middle console that connects to the dash, do I have to remove it as well?
Hello quick question the evaporator would be the same for a 09 ram 1500 crew cab 5.7 hemi
For sure.....should be the exact same set. Thanks for asking and for watching.
What tool is that? Electrical connections popper
how long do you think it takes just the remove the dash? I need to replace the recirculating housing so i only need to remove the dash. I am just trying to gauge how long it will take me.
The first time you do it.....maybe about 3-4 hours. If you do a few.....1 1/2-2 hours. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe
Cool thanks. Once the dash is removed you can access the recirculation housing door without removing the entire HVAC assembly correct?
On that specific year I cant remember.....I want to say yes. I know on the older ones yes for sure.
i got the whole thing apart, i have a 2016 and i can't get to the back tabs to remove the recirc.
I put everything back together and my 4wd and traction control light stays on... any ideas
Brake pedal switch
Hi buddy..... I’m having an issue with my 2013 ram 5.7 I have 2 coils that are not receiving power I’ve changed them out and they start to work but then stop.. can you please give me an idea
Nothing is coming to mind at the moment. Its something I havent come across as of yet. I would have to check things in person to see if any thing obvious. Its one of those issues that doesnt translate well with trying to help out online, it requires hands on.
Hi bro l have 2010 2500 dodge ram laramie i need change blend door acuaetor is the one on the back , is the same proses than this truck?
The door issue isnt that common on the 2013 models however
How different is the process on the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500?
The process is the same. I have since changed the title to reflect that, other then the thumbnail of course. Thanks for asking and make sure to subscribe!

Would this procedure be the same for a 2010 Ram 1500, 4.7 liter gas engine? thanks in advance

Hola buenas quisiera saber como quitar el airbag del coopiloto de un ram 09 versión laramie
hello do you know what R-1234YF Refrigerant Oil I should use and how much I should use its for a 2014 dodge ram1500
Couple questions....what size engine and also what have you replaced? I assume being the video is about the evaporator then evaporator but I dont want to just assume. Both questions will make a difference.
hello it has the 5.7 hemi I replaced the A/C Condenser
The oil is ND-12 Part#:68224150AB. The amount for condensor replacement is 1oz.
thank you for the help
Your welcome
How would it work for mega cab 2008 Dodge Ram 1500?
The differences would be with the center console and the duct work leading to the rear seats. Otherwise pretty much the same sets other then that.
So i need to remove the HVAC as well?
Juan Estrada If its the rear actuator then its sandwiched between the firewall and the HVAC box with no room to get to it.....so the box has to be removed to get to it
I cant find your donate button?!?

Como arreglar una fuga de gas del aire a condicionado
how do I know its needs to be changed out ?
It usually starts with the a/c not cooling anymore due to a leak that eventually is narrowed down to the evaporator using either a freon leak detector/sniffer or a dye placed in the freon. Thats the most common reason for replacing. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe
I think I have to do this. :(
It has to be because l already check the other 3 or 4 and the noking noise keep doing
Juan Estrada It's very possible. We run an actuator calibration test and a failed door will give us its location. But I don't expect most people to have that option.
