'Rock in Me' is actually off the most recent album. It does give some insight to how BAND-MAID can be a really good Pop Rock band, as well as a great Hard Rock band. Of course they're all good friends with the members of Silent Siren, so it's not like they hate stuff that's poppier.
Alot of Band-maid live shows are 2 hours +, so during the show they like to give Saki's voice a rest. They do that with Onset, Miku's magic spell time, Rock in me and Time (another Miku solo song), they did all of them last time they played in London, ealier this year. I love Miku's bubbly, infectious personality.
Miku, has enough energy to power all of Japan! It is a recent song. There is a longer version of this where Miku, starts to sing with just a backing tape. The tape stops and then this is more or less when this video starts. Not sure if she was genuinely surprised to see the rest of the band to play the song or if it is all part of the show? What impresses me so much with Band Maid is the professional musicianship on display.
This is the BAND-MAID you would have gotten had Saiki not joined the band. Miku is the Sweetness * Light of the group. This is Miku's Magic Time, where she casts a spell to help the Service, which is what they call their show, go well. And true to their Charm Points, Miku ends her sentences in 'Po' because in Japan pigeons don't go coo, they go po. Kanami is the Airhead, Akane is eating, and MISA is drinking alcohol. Saiki, who's not on stage is the cool and aloof "Ice Queen".
A little back round and a supposition. Miku had tried to make it in show business as a singer in an idol group. The attempt failed causing Miku to go to work at Maid Cafes where she formed the idea for Band-Maid. When she presented the band to the same executives who had fire her earlier they were intrigued enough to take a chance but with the condition that they record the songs given to them. It took Miku and friends three years to get the ok to record Alone. Now the supposition with gap in mind. Rock in Me is exactly the kind of pop song that Miku's first failed group would have recorded. And it makes me wonder if Miku recorded it partly as a dig at those music industry executives who failed to see her talent the first time around. Anyway, she has more than earned the right to perform it. It's her moment.
This track have some... very "japanese" aspects. As you know, the "Maid" concepts comes from Kobato, the one who sings here. She works for years in a Maid café in Akihabara, etc... you sure hear the history before. She, as you can imagine are asking the public to chorus, and of course saying "i´m not hearing you", "more more", "loudner" and things like that. Also there´s some aspects not so obvious related i think with the embodiment of her "band character". Is not strange in Japan (and other parts of the world) that in a group some members "play an act" as a character on stage and even in front of the media. In this case, Kobato (real name Miku Noguchi) is playing an act in the same way the "maids" of the maid café do. She speaks in a very high pitch and really... japanese woman don´t speaks this way all the time. Also se don´t say "i´m not hearing you", she said "Kobato don´t hear you". Only small childs under 5/7 years (and girls who mimic childs) do this. Speak like this is a way to play a small or innocent child. Also remember that "Kobato" is "small pigeon" or "little pigeon". Pigeon is "hato", combined with "ko" for "child" is "Kobato", the "h" becomes "b" and... well, it´s a japanese grammar thing. Anyway, they not only perform playing instruments and singing, algo a play of "characters". Saiki is the proud and silent, Kobato the "crazy child", Kanami the clueless and airhead, etc... not so different of others bands.
Jose Manuel Perez Correction though, her real name is really Kobato Miku/Miku Kobato, Miku(Mika) Noguchi was just the character she portrayed in a short video clip titled "Previous Life", as the real Mika Noguchi is a businesswoman. :)
All I gotta say is, I love Miku-chan. I fell for her ever since the very first MV I saw of them. Before I even knew their names I was just drawn to her. I can't really explain it...maybe it's magic. Yep, I'm spellbound... Nobody better try and break that spell, lol. :D
Dave, actually this is part 2 of Miku's Magic Spell Time......watching the Magic Spell Time MIGHT help understand her behaviour in this video... Than again Miku is a bit excessive and maybe slightly mad....but oh so joyful to watch on strange.....she is a miniature powerhouse and born entertainer too.....
John Jennings The more I listen to them and continue to like more of their songs, the more I realize how much of a monster Kanami is beneath that humble and shy exterior of hers
@@Muzicman-ut3jr Yes, Kanami (I love her...) is mastermind behind the music, but Miku is the mastermind behind the band...She handles the threads of Band Maid (also de lyrics too)...

Main Vocals is on a break during this part of the concert since they usually do really long concerts averaging around 2 hours

The main riff in this song has a nice swing feel. Kind of like "Tainted Love" by Soft Cel and "Miss Murder" by AFI
🤘🤘❤️🤘🤘 MISA! MISA! MISA!! 🤘🤘
Haha that was entertaining! +👍🏼
MISA MISA MISA! Po
The guitars are lost in space.

Well put. It makes her fascinating.

Band Maid is Miku's band. Miku is the boss. She is the mastermind behind Band Maid....
osierpe, true Miku is the one who formed Band-Maid but the mastermind goes to Kanami who orchestras all the harmony and music
John Jennings The more I listen to them and continue to like more of their songs, the more I realize how much of a monster Kanami is beneath that humble and shy exterior of hers
No shit huh! Kanami reminds me of a child’s anime cartoon until you put a guitar in her hands then she becomes a tsunami

osierpe absolutely!!!
