My 2004 Toyota Corolla has same problem the belt webbing burn out. I have ordered the belt webbing on Amazon. I am going to replace the webbing instead of replacing the whole unit. Your video has great help to demonstrate to remove the whole unit. I have to figure out how to replace belt webbing only.
You are a ROCK STAR! WOW... you explain this seat belt replacement in such a way that is so easy to understand. You are very, very good at what you do! Even though I'm a Camry owner, I'm sure the replacement is very similar. Well done. You deserve all your success here on TH-cam! Thank you for taking the time to explain this process.
Thanks for this video! My seatbelt was in the locked position and wouldn't come out. Found this video and just removing the panel somehow unlocked it and it's working again. Thanks!
Thank you for this video! I spent time today trying to remove the seatbelt and had to give up. You have given me insight on how to get to the bolts at the top of the belt so I will get it done tomorrow!!
Excellent video, very concise and clear. Would be great to see how to install the rear seat belts. Having trouble finding a video for this. Great Job again!
Oof, didn't think it was gonna be this easy, but then again it is a corolla🤣 (and also the way he does his videos make it way easier to understand stuff compared to some others)
A previous owner has used so much perfume that the seatbelt on the driver side makes your clothes stink. I've tried to wash it with many different things, but nothing works. The stench is horrible. Can I just get the seatbelt from the passenger side and move it to the driver side? And have the stinky seatbelt on the passenger side (I almost never have passengers). Are the two parts the same, so they fit either side? Mine is a 2005 Corolla hatchback.
If you are doing this to a similar Chevrolet Prizm you should actually remove the runner guard from the drivers door first since it has pegs one each end that go into holes in the side pieces to stop them from pulling apart. It is secured on end closest to the drivers wheel. You can then pull of the panel as shown, except without breaking part of the lower corner. I use a screw driver to start it and the bent the drivers side as shown using my hands. To remove the upper retainers cover it works best to use a screwdriver from the side since you can get a direct angle into the piece and not insert it at an angle. The lower rubber cover remove best but pulling it down, as shown, and the pulling the backside lip outward and then you can slide it up enough to be out of the way. You do NOT need to all the pulling apart to get the hook off. Just insert a screwdriver between the retainer and the car frame and it will easily pop out, the carpet has plenty of give without pulling on it first. If you belt is just slow retracting and not beaten up as shown and you have gunk on the retracter you should first try cleaning it before spending money replacing the belt. If it is failing to engage just replace it. They only cost $100+ each (front versions). That automatic torsion wrench alone probably cost that much (or more).
Hello, I had purchased a 3 point front safety seat belt replacement for my Toyota Corolla 2004 but as I take apart the seat belt system I noticed the part inside the car the original part is very different than what I purchased regarding what would be I would imagine the electrical connection. I didn't take apart the bottom piece behind the panel. I will attempt to do so just to have a look at it. Perhaps the part that I bought fits into this mechanism somehow but I'm not sure. I appreciate any help or suggestions anyone would make. I'm thinking perhaps this part is not really compatible. I will see if I can attach a photo here. Thank you
My toyota corolla is right hand drive. Can I replace front seat belts with those from a left hand drive corolla. Same models but just different drive side. Please advise
I'm trying to do this myself but I am Autistic and not understanding the accent at times. Can you list what tools and sizes I need please. Or someone..... thank you.
I have a 2001 Toyota Corolla and I need to replace front passenger seat belt. But my seat belt has a metal cyender and os connection to a yellow plug that I can't take off. And the used seat belt I bought on eBay. They just cut it off. Do I just cut mine off ? Or do u know what that yellow cord does?
Unfortunately I damaged my plastic connector at pre-tensioner on my 2005 Hyundai Elantra. I will need to replace the whole wiring. Anyone done that before?
Thanks, very nice easy instructions 👍
Glad it was helpful!

To swap out drivers side seat belt latch, do i need to disable the airbag system or anything like that??
Yes, please take battery cables away and wait 30 min. Electricity goes away within 30 min.
Hi Peter. A demonstration for the rear passenger seats would be great. It's harder to get to. Thanks in advance if you are able to do one.
Hi Tom, I will do new video.
