The part that struck me most: "I wish my mother were alive to see it." In the end, that's what it comes down to: we want to make our mothers proud...no matter whether what we've been called to do is in the glaring light of publicity or in a humble part of the world serving a neglected community. You're living your best life if Mom would look at it and conclude that she had done a good job raising you, that all her sacrifices were worth the while.
Meryl is an actress and she's a kind of a person that is direct, precise and sharp. Also, she is so used to be talking to different kinds of people with interviews, exposure and etc. but I'm sure that Anna does too but just in a different way. Meryl does not go around the bushes. She talks on a topic on point and she's very clear on the subject on what she wants to say. Unlike Anna, she's not shy. Both Meryl and Anna are strong and powerful women but different. Anna is a journalist, a writer and she's more of a person that is reserved and takes time to structure their words and they are very good observant and deep thinkers. Look at the matter of how she ask questions. You'll know it. It's not because they have nothing to say but there's a lot of things going on in their minds at once and it's a mess. It's hard to look eye to eye contact because they get distracted and get lost on what they are supposed to say. I am actually of the latter. If you see people that you meet and talk with them and they look the other way when they are talking, please don't judge too harshly or quickly. They are trying to construct and reconstruct their thoughts and how to relay it in a matter that is understandable and relatable for everyone. Elon Musk is actually one of them. As a matter of fact, I've seen the debate of Elon Musk and Jack Ma about AI in Mars. Both are brilliant but there's a lot of difference between the two of them. Jack Ma is well spoken but doesn't seem to really get the idea of the vision of the future that Elon has in mind. While Elon Musk is trying to pick on words how to explain and lay out his view and vision of the future but is struggling to do so. We all have different gifts, abilities and intellectual prowess. It's' just how you see people and learn to respect and appreciate differences.
I just realized the cast of Devil wears prada and the characters they portray have both the same first letter.. Miranda-Meryl Emily-Emily Andy-Anne Dont know just realized it i know that you already know this....
"I wish my mother were alive to see it" Correct me if I'm wrong cz I guess after that, both Meryl and Anna were quite speechless and a bit teary eyes..cz I was also overwhelmed with that words *when two legends of their own field met
Is no one gonna talk about that superb acting moment when Meryl was thinking of her answer to “what was the most challenging role to portray?”. Dang, those Oscars are won by this lady for a reason.
That last line “I wish my move were alive to see it” was so sad to me. It’s precious to be that old and still want to show your parents things to make them proud of you
I do love the idea of Meryl raising daughters - she is the best role model. She's right - you want to bring up the next generation of women to feel free to be themselves, it's a fine line between 'preparing' them and 'scaring' them. I think things are moving in the right direction, but it's sad that we're not there yet.
She obviously meant "Being the greatest figure in the fashion world, I have five minutes to talk to you, the greatest actress of our time." Anna was not being a very polite guest. That meeting was way too brief for someone of Meryl Streep's stature.
I think she said:"i think that a good time to end, then merryl and i can talk about more important things." I think what she meant was for the video to end, not their conversation
@@James-ek3il Same. I can see why someone like Anna would be annoyed by the interview questions. They were very superficial. I sensed Anna looking down at her notes was just thinking "WTF kind of questions are these?" All this stuff is just entirely produced. She obviously wanted a real talk with Meryl.
I love how Anna looks at Meryl. You can really tell that she admires and respects her deeply. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Anna really look at anyone that way. It’s so wholesome ❤
this is all so sincere and raw and powerful. but i know we were all expecting Meryl carry some Miranda Priestly vibes since in the intro people were girding their loins.
What was raw and powerful was polanski raping the girls butt and MS Streep standing to offer her ovations and approval. Hypocrocy, power and raw hypocrisy
Matthew Jzac Kintanar Other then the hypocrisy of it all, this conversation was scripted which is why Anna kept looking down on paper. Streep did not need to look at paper as her acting and memorization was done well.
hahah true. but i mean, they probably didnt cut any of the interview and instead added time to the video in order to include the intro. they're probably not constrained to any specific time limits.
"I wish my mother were alive to see it." Oh, don't we all hope that our mothers see us as the courageous women they (sometimes very secretly) hope we grow into? This was delightful, ty.

IMO, Sophie was the most challenging role to play. Learning to speak English and German with a Polish accent, playing a woman who was both strong and weak, trying to continue living after everyone in your former life is gone. That’s a lot more challenging than trying to match your outfits.

You're living your best life if Mom would look at it and conclude that she had done a good job raising you, that all her sacrifices were worth the while.
Not my mother sadly
@@SC-pe9ir Why not!?
@@isabelledetaillefer2726 She was a toxic person
It's' just how you see people and learn to respect and appreciate differences.
...and where is Andy?! 😁😁
Diana 11 very funny
Oh you mean "Emily"? :P
She's a fly on the wall.
to quote our beloved Emily Blunt 'she has an ugly skirt convention she has to go to'
Diana 11 you mean another Amily
I just realized the cast of Devil wears prada and the characters they portray have both the same first letter..
Miranda-Meryl
Emily-Emily
Andy-Anne
Dont know just realized it i know that you already know this....
"I wish my mother were alive to see it"
Correct me if I'm wrong cz I guess after that, both Meryl and Anna were quite speechless and a bit teary eyes..cz I was also overwhelmed with that words
*when two legends of their own field met
0:33 *was lowkey expecting her to just plop her coat on the secretary desk* 😂😂😂
Is no one gonna talk about that superb acting moment when Meryl was thinking of her answer to “what was the most challenging role to portray?”. Dang, those Oscars are won by this lady for a reason.
The genuine connection between these two powerful women was such a pleasure to witness.
Internet Citizen Please realise how fake your rhetoric. Thank you.
1. I heard Miranda in Meryl's voice.
2. When Anna wintour tells you to stop. You stop.
For a second I thought she was going to dump her coat on the table like Miranda would hahaha
Clash of the Titans: the pacific, elegant and inspiring version.
These two women are so different in their style, the way they speak, the way they approach, it’s so fascinating to see! Both are such icons
The queen of fashion with the queen of acting💓😫

CORRECTION: Miranda Priestly Talks to Anna Wintour About Her New Movie, Harvey Weinstein, and Challenging Roles.
It would complicated, has Miranda and Anna hate each other in the book.
Miranda Priestly was actually based on Anna Wintor. You can look it up.
Their voices together is like asmr haha
omg i know

I love asmr hahaha
TRUU
TOTALLY
Meryl is an ICON! I love how nervous Anna was in the beginning, barely looking at Meryl and then she got comfortable.
soo refreshing this one. i simply adore meryl streep.she's unique. no wonder even the LEGENDARY anna wintour seemed tamed and vulnerable with her.
Two of the most brilliant and significant women in our lifetimes.
Nikhita Prabhudesai Nope, try again
One parrots scripts and the other one sells rags.... On child....your standards are so simple....
...in Your World ...not Mine !!
you must be kidding. lol.
Tampoco mames jajjajaja
The devil wears Prada feels ❤❤❤❤❤
Wow, you guys are so dumb. Such of deep conversation and the entire comment page is full with AIRHEADS.. God save us.
Miranda Priestly was actually based on Anna Wintor. You can look it up.
They’re both hypnotically charming, but in two different ways.
I found this conversation really interesting because both women are very influential and have a strong voice.
th-cam.com/video/WNrsV_o0KYo/w-d-xo.html
influential in what way?
Lloyd Holiday
Right, I'd like to know answer to that!
Not really. A woman who gave a standing ovation to a convicted child rapist is no hero.
humorWars she probably did. Notice how long it took her to speak out against her bff Harvey.
What an iconic video! I sometimes find myself rewatching because it’s just amazing to see this interaction between two strong women!

'So, Meryl .. jumping right in...'
Always straight to business, Anna ... That is why she is a living legend
Meryl is a lovely woman n humble one...she can easily blend with any society n still can be her self...i love her calm voice...
I love that Anna and Meryl both were on the same wavelength about The Devil Wears Prada. Meryl: “well I could think of one...” Anna: “No!” 😂😂
I WISH THIS WAS LONGER
@ Princepeterwolf, That's what she said.
What a lovely conversation between these two inspiriting ladies. The dignity and grace they both have is remarkable. Thank you.
Matthew Jzac Kintanar
Other then the hypocrisy of it all, this conversation was scripted which is why Anna kept looking down on paper. Streep did not need to look at paper as her acting and memorization was done well.
th-cam.com/video/WNrsV_o0KYo/w-d-xo.html
+pumpkineater69 she gave a standing ovation to Roman Palinski too!! SICK.
conspiracy theory: notice how they were never together in the same shot, meryl streep is actually anna wintour
roo xoxo explain
roo xoxo Actually they are when she walks in the room
Are you stupid, they are in the same scene often even in the first 15 seconds, dumb fuck.
Raider she was kiddinf
Raider kidding*
I'm a little mad at the intro because it ate too much into the interview time. :)
These two ladies are so impressive. ❤️
Yes! I could listen to the two of them for hours.
hahah true. but i mean, they probably didnt cut any of the interview and instead added time to the video in order to include the intro. they're probably not constrained to any specific time limits.
With a name like "the movie my life" how could you not have lived for that montage?!
Charlie Nonya - Because I was busy 'living' for the interview. :)
It was just a lil fun in all the seriousness of the interview. It almost needed it.
"I wish my mother were alive to see it." Oh, don't we all hope that our mothers see us as the courageous women they (sometimes very secretly) hope we grow into? This was delightful, ty.
Maybe first time, ive seen anna wintour actually being so real as oppose to her sarcasm and icy pitch.
This is everything. These are the kinds of conversations we need to have with our friends.
I really enjoyed this! I particularly like how Anna maintains a casual and approachable style while also asking such in depth questions (I know there are better terms for the type of questions she asked, I just can't recall them at the moment).
That’s the nicest office I’ll ever see in my lifetime.
*Meryl streep* voice gave me chills so calming.
can't believe she's 68!! if I could look like that and worked as well in my late 60s I would be more than happy !
my heart when she said she wished her mother was alive to see it
jordan gibbons ~ooooh yes❤& the brief(painful)pause...
what an honor for anna wintour to meet someone who achieved the same if not a higher level of success and did it gracefully and was never hated by anyone.
I need this to be a 1 hour special
NEED IT!
Meryl is so sweet I just want to hug her❤️
this is so wonderful and engaging to watch, two incredible women who are the champions of their fields... having an intellectual conversation. Warming. x
Intellectual
IMO, Sophie was the most challenging role to play. Learning to speak English and German with a Polish accent, playing a woman who was both strong and weak, trying to continue living after everyone in your former life is gone. That’s a lot more challenging than trying to match your outfits.
"By all means, move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me."
I love Meryl!! She is awesome. And for her interview with Miss Wintour I mean wow. That speaks for itself. Love these women.
Meryl got her wall down so quick. Have her talk with Trump next!
4reelstho she’d destroy him for his too long ties and badly tailored suits.
4reelstho der frends normally
Please!! Just look at how she is dressed for this interview. Not exactly Miranda Priestly material.
Walter Higo well, she'd said it before. She is beyond those stupid and superficial attempts to impress somebody. She is who she is.
Or better yet, her old friend Roman Polanski? Or perhaps Harvey Weinstein?
they’re both so eloquent and wise, such an insightful conversation between these two icons
