I know this feeling very well. I've spent more time gathering materials and thinking about my perfect system than i've actually spent playing. this is a good video on how to fix that issue
I caught myself when I was facing the same problem. Overly complicated systems, tables and other dependencies distance us from the most important thing: the adventure and fun. Simple d6 and imagination is the best guide in solo rpg.
This was so helpful in reminding me not to get so hung up on so much and just start playing. I’m always searching for the perfect this or that and then I sometimes just don’t get started at all. Thank you!
This is the best video I have seen on this. Been meaning to solo play for ages and never started because it’s too hard. This is a simple way to start and I can’t wait to get into it! Thanks!
Fantastic! This was essentially how I introduced my kid to RPGs at a young age. Ask lots of questions and a D6 Yes/No resolution. Really don't need much more than that!
This. For me, this exact thing has killed more games than it has started. This should be mandatory viewing for everyone thinking of trying solo gaming, this explains so much and why system, tables, charts, prompts, etc are all extra and not really needed to play.
@@CavernadoLekkis I have returned to this video repeatedly as a point of inspiration when I am paralyzed and unable to get my game going again. This is such a great a video.
Your channel is fantastic. I have learned so much from your work. I also really dig that intro graphic. I love what you did here. I'm going to do this tonight. I waste too much time thinking about playing but not actually playing. I was thinking of the perplexing ruins one page adventure and one page dungeon, and then you brought them out! So good!
This is such a nice fun way to play! I have so many tables and books that look amazing but yes, i definitely get hung up on what to actually use when playing. Thank you for this video!
Hey, this was a great video! Thanks for making it. I definitely think a lot of people are overthinking it when they first get into Solo RPGs and showing how easy it is to do with minimal resources is a great way to help others out. I look forward to watching more of your channel :)
Excellent video, and great advice. I may need to watch this regularly to remind myself to just start playing! I have amassed to much solo stuff and I wish I hadn't. It's nice to have them, but I am always worried about "playing wrong".
A great video. It shows how important it is to get into playing quick. I recognized that I need a very light system and little to zero preparation. Then I start without "thinking" too much. Thank you for this video!
I just l played through assasins creed mirage without the compass and it was so different to my usual AC experience, I actually had to look at the map in a human way. Go up this road, turn there, take that turn etc... Put my into the world so much more than mindlessly following arrows.
I stuck not only starting missing but with characters creation too. To many variables, too many possible, and choose one or roll for one fill always as a bad decision. And I hate too have to roll many time before actually play ( even if I stuck in what will happen). Once more rolling made me fill like how no I don’t like this one for any result). Yes I particularly a pain, sorry, thanks for your attempt to help.

@@CavernadoLekkis too many. I’m tired to even try to learn new one. This is a great video of how to ask questions. As Chris McDowall of Bastionland says: Asking questions is essential for RPGs.
