16:04 😮Yikes. I thought a plane dropped something or tree fell on my steel roof when my (single-spring) 42" EZ Set Torsion Spring snapped after 15 years of heavy use ...it was quite the explosion. (Fortunately the door was down) BLAM! Scared the out 💩of me while I was in another room😳
Very helpful video btw... as I need to replace an EZ left side mount.

Thanks for your video Bro, I was gifted a door exactly like yours with "0" instructions, I've very limited experience with EZ set, (or any other garage doors except 20 yrs ago when I changed a couple springs) "It seriously was a challenge, until I found your video" - The only hiccup I had, was on the cable winding spools there was a arrow advising to wind the cable the other direction. I'm not sure why red and black cable spools said to wind away instead towards? Thankfully I followed exactly the way you did yours, and everything turned out "Good to Go" so thanks again...

Nice video. I've never seen the bearing end plate retainers before, nor a multi-part torsion tube for such a small (9 foot wide) door before. The winding mechanism seems like overkill, since it's so easy to just use winding bars - but if it works - that's great. Winding bars aren't dangerous IF you follow the rules. They're dangerous only when you do something stupid.

I prefer this mechanism over the winding bars for tightening and loosening.

can you still use the 2 bars to tighten the spring instead of the winding unit?...

Great video, one question though, I have that setup and one side of my garage doesn’t go down all the way, and I just replaced weatherstrip, if I want to adjust the cable drums to even it up. do I have to use winding bars, or pliers, or anything, what steps should I take take to adjust them or can I just loosen the set screws without doing anything else?

Both doors have rollers in the wrong spot. Your 2x4 idea was a terrible idea. What happens once you remove it and the door flys open. Always use a Vice Grip to clamp the door down. Drums should be out further to prevent cables from scraping on each other when you open the door. Oil the door to prevent squeezing when done. Terrible video.
