Man am i glad you mentioned the "left vs right" wound spring. . . What I've gathered, if you have a single spring on the outside, its left on left etc. If you have a double spring center mounted setup - they mount opposite / backwards essentially.
If you’re having trouble getting that many revolutions, then your tighten-down point onto the shaft needs to be slid to your right more before you start… so the spring doesn’t bind. If it’s binding at all around that 10 revolutions mark or whatever, you need to START OVER and space out the spring more before tightening so that it has more room to twist without binding. That’s the trick, and that’s WHY mine broke in the first place. It was binding from the day it was installed.
@@soltvedt You are spot on , I'm trying to do this alone which isn't easy . Not knowing what I got myself into but didn't think it was that hard to begith . The old spring has been on there 14 years , and I've had to exchange the spring twice now because of size . First time not my fault , sales kid sold my wife wrong one and she even had the old one with her . This is not how I had the labor day weekend planned , lol . Thank you for the advice . @@soltvedtIt’s common sense! You should do the tension right, lift the door half way and if it stay like that. That means you got the tension right… Then connect the door with the opener.

EZ-set my ass ! Got same set up on my doors , not a chance in hell I'm gonna get 11 plus revolutions on that spring .
