  • BMW e39 540i Auto M sport Review with acceleration times and talk about the M62tu motors.
    BMW released these with a factory claimed 0-62mp time of 6.7 seconds and we ended up with a 7.2 which is only half a second off what was claimed all those years ago in test conditions. Pretty DAMN good if you ask me, and with an exhaust sound like this it's hard not to love!
    The car is stock tune with a rear muffler delete / Straight pipe.

    Owned one of these a while ago (pre lci) upgraded to m5 e60, love the extra power but really miss the stunning classy looks and fantastic build quality, imo the best model they made.

      @@ZeroTo60Tube ahh, they are not so bad, i did rod bearings and the vanos line just for piece of mind, worth it to keep the revs up!! Rest of it is really just maintanance, they do tend to go through rear tyres though, 😎 and watch for insulation falling off wiring if it comes from a high humidity climate.

    Picked up a 03 M Sport (Auto but idc) a few months back, had to put new tires and struts. Drives so smooth and quiet its amazing, at the same time you can open it up and make it sound like a baby M5. Im really falling in love with the car. Build quality is better than most new cars.

    Nice video to try out, for once an auto M sport. I have my E39 540i 6MT wagon, with no backseets, upgraded brakes, and an LSD with Reuter Motorsport Exhaust, non vanos, 16" stock wheels with good tires and i'm getting around 5.6 -5.4. But what app is that if i may ask? i would love to try that with my car :).

  • @mattkelly3575
    @mattkelly3575 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I have the exact same car, M spec, ‘02 540. I don’t get why would you not manually shift the car? I rarely drive my car in automatic (drive) mode. You can not only control the duration and shift point which is critical but also, more importantly, your downshift for flinging your ass end around turns at speed. That was the whole concept of the ZF transmission was to be the best of both worlds. The M spec really does add a lot for the 540, not just badge and body stuff. It puts a higher stall torque converter in the transmission and most importantly they change the rear axle ratio to a 3.14!! That’s why M Spec E39 540’s are so fast and why they suck so much gas down!!
    They are like an F-15 with a leaky wing!! lol

      @@ZeroTo60Tube bad Australian roads or design problem? Latest one was a refurbished one from the USA. I fit Michelin pilot sport 4 - 255 40 17, and yet here I am again. I'm thinking those 18 inch m pars would be a more solid wheel, but are more rare down here. Plus I really like the design of 66. Maybe the fix is non staggered and no more fat rear end ; /
