When my dog gave birth to her puppies, she let me go face to face with them and everything. She even let me hold them at about 2 days old! Everyone in my family says that it was because she trusted me. I’ve had her since she was a tiny puppy. Q🥰

? Why do the mothers growl at what I suspect are the father dogs? I thought they would welcome the fathers.
W Fox it depends on who they are, some fathers will try to hurt the puppies, plus the mother dog is really just focused on caring for her puppies, and him being around may stress her out. It depends also on the dad himself, some puppy fathers do want to be around their puppies, some do not and will try to snap at them if they get too close.
W Fox in the wild, the males would try to eat the kits/cubs/puppies so the moms would kill the male to keep them alive
All mother dogs have an instinct to protect their pups because dogs have decended from wolf s and the father wolf will kill the pups so he can mate again with the mother and pups have no defense they can't walk well they can't see and their only really able to suck off of the mother so the mother would kill the father if he was trying to hurt the pups and so even if they aren't she will growl at first

And most may not like the smell of human, or any other species, near their pups. Some may he fine with it. But others may not. And they were not throwing the puppies they were just placing them down quickly. Which made it look like they were throwing them.

Kaylzerz Gaming they do, the puppies just aren't old enough to meet the "pack" yet. Mothets won't allow any other dog to come near the puppies until they reach a certain age, they're just telling the dads to back off for a bit.
Kaylzerz Gaming in the wild, father dogs will more often than not, eat their young. Mother dogs will instinctively keep the father away in case he tries to eat the young.
Father dogs don't eat THEIR OWN puppies, this is a massive bs. In the wilds, ANOTHER male dog (one who is not the father of the pups) might would kill the puppies in order to have the full attention of the mom and possibly mate with her. Stop with these nonse and completely false claims.

People that are not reputable breeders that do not know what they are doing when it comes to breeding dogs have no business breeding dogs because they are just in it for the money and are hurting the breed. They will throw any two dogs together and sometimes what you get are puppies that hardly look like the breed that that are supposed to represent and sometimes the outcome are sick dogs that have serious problems that may not show up until they are older. If you want to buy a dog please go to the breed that you want association of America and look for a reputable breeder on that site .
