Remember when i came back home from america my dog was flipping out when i reached home and 2 months later he died ☹
when my dad died a month ago, my dog daisy had been staying with him and had been taken to the shelter for the night, i was so distraught i rushed out the next morning to get her and when they brought her out crying and wagging her tail it completely just made me forget about all that had happened in the last few days, its truly incredible how much joy a dog can bring to your life

I used to work at a dog daycare. Two of my coworkers were veterans. The human veteran had a service dog (seizure alert) who served with him in Iraq. Yes. A veteran working at a dog daycare with his service dog, who also happened to be a k9 veteran.

As an infantry soldier myself, this video put a knot in my throat. I remember coming home for the first time in years, my dad had taken my puppy Spike, a brindle pitbull (135lbs)
And the noises he made when he saw my face. Very touching.......

Had a dog for awhile, he had been abused/abandoned and taken from the streets by family of a friend of my oldest brother. They had another dog and a baby and was first looking for a dog sitter for the 2 and wound up giving him to us and took the smaller dog. He was very scared the 1st week we had him. It took him several months before he settled. At first he only trusted my oldest brother. He let me pet him first, same day my younger brother. We were still young teenagers at the time. Then my mom and lastly my dad. He later on got sick I think. He died about 10 yrs ago.

I used to be one of those people who thought they're "just" pets, if one dies or gets lost, you just get a new one. That all changed when my mom had a stroke about 8 years ago. After going through 2 years of rehab, she still wasn't quite up to what the docs thought she should be. They suggested that she needed a companion to occupy her while I was at work. One day, I brought home 2 kittens. Those boys got her up out of her chair and gave her unconditional love for another 3 years. When she went to hospice, I got permission to take them to visit her. On her final day, they laid with her and both howled when she breathed her last...they KNEW! I thought about giving them away afterwards but just couldn't do it. They'll be 6 years old next month and both of them still sleep in moms chair every night.
Animals are amazing. I'm so sorry for your lost.

I know what it's like to lose someone you love but I'm here to tell you that it's gonna be ok because you have all the love in the world (from us and Jesus as well ).

I'm soooo glad y'all didn't turn off the comments feature on this. Because I NEED to say this! There's something REALLY special about seeing/watching ANYONE reunite with their pets. I mean that stuff is REALLY nice and heartwarming... emotionally moving (for me). But there's something EXTRA special about seeing our troops returning from their deployment to reunite with their pets. I can't help the way it makes me feel in my heart; which then transfers to my eyes. I just start crying because I'm overwhelmed with joy for THEM!!!!

I left my pup in care for 10 days to visit my family across the country and when I came back the tears were immeasurable. The way my little Deku ran up to me, whimpering, crying, erratically shaking about like he couldn't contain or fathom his own happiness.
It was only 10 days.
But it felt like forever for both of us.
Truly, the love that is shared with a dog is one of the purest and most innocent.

I totally understand the void that pets fill when you've had a great loss! Lost my husband 7 months ago, my dogs grieved as I did. They became my antidepressants. Now, they are my hairy children. Service animals do so much more than fill a missing piece, they are truly exceptional animals for those in need!
