I was positive for GBS with both pregnancies. I received enough antibiotics during my first delivery, but I delivered my second child so fast I only had enough time for one dose. All was well, and both kids were fine. I had awesome follow-up with the midwives.

@Molly Dolly from my experience, yes. I had the IV the entire time. I got multiple doses because I was in labor for a long time. With everything else going on you don't notice the IV while pushing. I hope everything turns out good for you and you have a smooth and fast labor experience! Congrats ❤

You do such a good job covering topics around pregnancy and birth. I love it! The time line has lined up with my 3rd pregnancy so well. I have to get this test on my next visit. Keep on going :) 3 weeks or less to baby 3!

The timing of this video is sooo weird (I guess) lol. I jus got my test done on Tuesday, and it was negative. However I LOVE LEARNING... so I’m watching anyway
This is all really good information. Thank you. I was blessed with a really quick labor even though it was my first, so I didn’t get all the doses of antibiotics I needed, but my water didn’t break until right before I pushed him out, so that was a good sign. As a precaution, he was in the NICU on antibiotics for a time. In Taiwan, it is standard practice for a 3 day hospital stay after vaginal delivery and 5 days for a c-section delivery. He was okay and never developed an infection.
I also tested group B strep positive during my first prenatal urine test. In some ways I think it was better to know early, since I had no idea what it meant and was able to research it, rather than finding out much later.
Aw, mama! That must have been so scary for you. Unfortunately this can happen as your GBS status can change in the weeks before delivery. I hope you both are doing ok.
I came back to this video because I tested positive in my urine at 26weeks (and an asymptomatic UTI) and I knew I could come back to Nurse Zabe to get more info and calm my anxiety
Thank you so much for making this video. I had this in my pregnancy and never knew any other information besides I had it and I needed penicillin for it. As a young mom I wish I had this video sooner and I am so happy content like this for anyone who needs it!
I've already been told I have this (years ago) and I've never been pregnant yet. I went to the health center for a UTI and they told me to remember it and that it was super important for when I had babies because they get false negatives all the time on the one day they test for it. Never forgot and 10 years later I'm trying for my first!
I had it with my daughter we were both very ill for a week, wish I’d known about it beforehand. Currently doing 100 skips a day in October to raise money for Group B Strep Support.
Can you talk about the research behind the effects of taking antibiotics during labor --specifically for the baby. I had 3 rounds of antibiotics with my first child (for GBS) and he subsequently developed eczema, allergies, and food sensitivities. Although I don't think the antibiotics were 100% responsible, from my reading it seems like there is a link between antibiotic usage and eczema/allergies/asthma/etc. How can we manage the use of antibiotics in labor? For example, is it necessary to get the antibiotics preemptively? Is it possible to wait until your water breaks and then assess whether antibiotics are necessary (e.g. given where you are in the labor process)? Is there any literature on the time between water breaking and deliver and the chances of the baby contracting an infection. Thanks!
I totally hear your concern! One thing we do is wait to start antibiotics on patients once active labor is established with inductions at my facility. The other thing that there is some research Behind is that a high-quality probiotic given afterbirth can help repopulate the gut. Evivo is the one we used and it helped with a lot of my baby’s GI symptoms.
I was wondering if you could do a video on gestational diabetes. I’m really interested to hear your opinion on them. :) I’m having my baby girl in 12 weeks or so depending on how big she’s getting. My hubby and I love your videos so informative.
Tested positive with this pregnancy ( 3rd pregnancy) going in for a elective induction in about 10 days and now I'm nervous about the antibiotics burning 😣. Hoping that is not my experience, but going to practice my breathing techniques in case it is lol
My fiancé wasn’t expected to make it after he was born because his mother ended up being group b positive but was never tested for it. He got very sick, and from what his dad has told me, his lungs collapsed and he was on all sorts of life support machines in the hospital for the first few months of his life. Pretty much worst case scenario. So safe to say as much as I’m not looking forward to the process of getting tested for it- I’m eager to have it done to look out for our baby girl, because her dad still has scars from having tubes and everything as as a newborn.
We don't routinely test for it here in the UK and I've just found out at 27 weeks into my 2nd pregnancy that I have it (I went into maternity assessment unit with very mild bleeding, I was thinking thrush) they swabbed me and that was the result. I'm resigned to the antibiotic drip now. Better that than the situation you described. It horrifies me to think I could have been positive with my 1st baby and not even known.
What if I’m having a csection but my water breaks before my scheduled csection? Please help, I’m very worried about my baby. I’m B Strep positive and I’m having a csection but doctor has warned me several times of going into labor sooner as baby shows 1 week ahead. Anyway, I’m afraid that I won’t be able to get the treatment in time.
I was GBS positive with my first baby and my other 2 were negative. I'm glad you made this video for others. I remember being very disappointed when I was positive. I thought I did something wrong lol.
Enix Goddess I’m the opposite! Negative for 2, positive for this one ( just found out 2 days ago). But I have to take antibiotics anyway before I give birth (heart condition related) so really makes no difference
I love listening to you so much, your demeanor is so calming and encouraging. It makes me wish I could relocate to where you live before I deliver so that you could help me! On that topic, I know I can always request a different doctor, but if I'm in labor and the nurse is just making my experience awful, can I ask them to get me someone else? I'm in a good sized city, the hospital will have several l&d nurses available at any time, right? Thanks for the video, and for being you. You're a blessing!
Ok i never really paid attention to the GBS test cuz its always been negative but now i actually know why i get it 😂 being tested at my next appt in two weeks 😊
I have Group B strep and group A Strep septicaemia 24/7. I've had this for years and it flares up now and then to show symptoms. Otherwise it just lies dormant. My blood work always shows a positive test but I'm non responsive to antibiotics so we avoid treating me unless it's severe. I tend to have a 150 count in my blood at any time. So i know pre-emptively I'll be hospitalised and probably kept in hospital for a little longer.
I think it may be helpful to note to those that havent recieved the iv before for being GBS+ that is sort of burns a little bit when being administered. Not bad or painful. Just slightly annoying lol
I’m hearing this from a few mamas in here, from not bad to more painful than labor. While that’s not been my experience receiving antibiotics, I think it’s good to know that it can happen!
I’m 37w3d with my 3rd and I tested positive for the first time ever. It has me ANXIOUS about delivery (usually I deliver early) especially since we recently moved further away from the hospital 😩
Thank you! I am positive and asked if I needed to come in early etc. I was told no. I’ve had false labor for about 7 weeks . I’m 36 weeks today and the lack of info I get is so frustrating. My next checkup isn’t for 2/3 weeks.. I don’t even know what to do if the baby goes past her due date. 🧐
Yeah, I tested positive for it in my first pregnancy. No symptoms, they just did an IV of abx when I had my daughter, and things were fine. Second birth, was GBS negative.
I love your videos! So much has changed since my son was born and it's nice to have people like you to help educate your viewers. Keep up the great work. I was also was wondering if you have any tips for extreme mourning sickness. I have tried medication and bland foods along with other suggestions. My obgyn hasn't been the most helpful and I'm not able to keep anything down. I'm 14 weeks and I'm still getting sick multiple times a day.
Lol! You uploaded this the day I got induced! I wish I would've seen this! I was induced for preeclampsia and also was GBS positive 🤦🏼♀️ baby boy didn't get here til early Saturday morning though!
I know you didn't ask for my input, but I thought this might be helpful. I was born with a GBS infection, but my mom had tested a false negative and was NOT given any antibiotics at the time of my birth. I still have seasonal allergies, moderate eczema, and some significant food sensitivities anyway, so I really don't think it matters lol
I have my test tomorrow morning. I'm only worried because I'm allergic to all penicillin related drugs and the doctors office has already tried to prescribe it to me once before insisting that I'll be okay. I hope I'm negative or if I'm positive, they don't try and give me something im allergic to. Fingers crossed 🤞🤞 I am curious if having sex before the test could alter results?
GD is cause by the placenta putting off too much of a hormone that causes your cells to be resistant to insulin. Once the placenta is out, the hormone is no longer being produced and going into your system. However it does take a bit of time to leave your system. I've had GD with ALL three of my pregnancies and got to wear a continuous glucose monitor this time (Dexcom G6)! It is something that you wear 24/7 that has a sensor under your skin and sends your phone glucose readings every 5 minutes without finger pricks. What I noticed was that it took about 3 days for my body to regulate and my cells to stop being insulin resistant. It was right before christmas so there were LOTS of goodies and I was basically eating cakes, cookies, and candies all day. Nothing after three days did really anything to get my sugars up... except McDonalds. That made it skyrocket a week after birth. And I just had a sandwich and BARELY any fries. By the time my CGM sensor expired (10 days pp), I was completely normal and had levels exactly what any normal person would have. I'm assuming everyone's body is different, but the principle holds the same. If you have GD and didn't develop type 2, as soon as the hormone leaves your system (for me diet and exercise controlled, it was 3 days) your cells insulin absorption is back to normal.
@@ThatOneGeekyFamilytoo that's really interesting! Thanks for telling me as I might get gd later in this pregnancy. It's good to know what might happen after I give birth.
@@meghanosborn6 Have you had it before or do you have a family history? I have ZERO risk factors (with my first that is, now I have the risk factor of having it before) and I get it everytime... But I know women who have all the risk factors in the book and don't get it. I got it at 14 weeks this last time which is why I talked my Doc into prescribing me a CGM, it was amazing!
@@ThatOneGeekyFamilytoo I have alot of family history of diabetes, and I'm over weight. I'm 16 weeks and I've been tested once and I'm sure I'll be tested again before the end. I'm hoping I dont end up with GD but it's always a possibility. It would just make things harder and more concerning because I am high risk already.
@@meghanosborn6 Seriously don't worry yourself about it! Try and get a balanced diet if you can, but don't stress! It's still unlikely that you'll have it as the number of GD women are in the minority. Congrats BTW! But either way, you'll be fine. I always say that half the battle is knowing. It's tedious more than anything. You can totally get through it. As stated, I've had it three times and for some reason, I keep doing it.
I always hear that at every prenatal appointment they take a urine sample, why did I only get a few urine tests done during all my visits? I'm now 35 weeks
@@ButterflyyBeautiee Yeah! Idk if my OBGYN should have been taking more urine samples or what?? I've had a less than satisfactory experience, so I wouldn't be surprised 🤦♀️ But I hope it's just different with all doctors! Lol
My OBGYN tests every time and although I’m not a doctor or even a CNA (meaning I have no qualifications whatsoever😂) I don’t see why they wouldn’t if that makes sense? I’m about 35 weeks right now and I’ve tested positive for a UTI twice and had a weird protein in my urine both times as well and wouldn’t have known if they hadn’t tested my urine every appointment because I had no symptoms. I would FOR SURE ask them next time you go in because that would worry me personally that something could be missed. All of the best for you❤️❤️
I only got lab tested urine maybe 2 times. Initial first visit to check all my levels and then again for something else a few months later. However I do get my urine tested every appointment in office, but it is a dip test. I pee in the cup, dunk a strip, and show it to nurse. From what I understand that just monitors my hydration and sugars 🤷🏻♀️.
@@bellerobinson ohhhhhhhh, okay. Yeah, I looked it up last night and read about that. Idk if I should be concerned that my OBGYN hasn't been doing that for me? 🤔
I am about 12 weeks and found out I have a asymptomatic UTI and the bactera from the culture was GBS. So they said I have to take Amoxicillin and they will retest later.
Thank you so much for the information As a FTM i tested positive last week and cried for a good day before calling the nurse and she said pretty much what you did. I did not know that probiotics are good for breastfeeding. Do you have any recommendations? Im 37 weeks today. My Dr. has not talked about it at all with me about be GBS+, What are the chances they might induce me to I can get the right amount of doses or do I just wait to see what happens.
Would there be any reason for the OB to try to speed up the delivery or would you be able to labor for as long as needed without intervention as long as you are receiving the antibiotics?
Sorry if you commented on this and I missed it! But what happens if you suddenly go into labor prior to 35 weeks and you haven't had the swab yet? Will they just keep an eye on your baby to see if there are any symptoms of an infection? Second question is - if I'm understanding correctly the initial urine test might show if there is GBS in your urine. If its positive then there's no need for a swab later on in the pregnancy. But if it's negative, is it still recommended to have the swab done just to be sure??
I was positive with my first, and 33wks currently with my second. My midwife suggested drinking a dose of apple cider vinegar each day from now until birth and that creates an acidic condition that GBS cannot live in. I had never heard of this before with my first, is this true? Could it create a false negative or would it actually beat GBS?
I would obviously defer to the advice of your midwife. I’ve not heard of that benefit of apple cider vinegar, but it’s great for you either way! Theoretically, if it were to work it wouldn’t be creating a false negative because you are continuing the treatment through your pregnancy and delivery, as opposed to the garlic right before testing. Does that make sense?
These videos are so helpful! Question for you, if you’ve been deemed a carrier for strep (like regular strep that you get in your throat) and are prone to strep throat (maybe 2-3 times a year) does that make you group b strep positive or can it increase your chances?
Can we say protect? There are babies whose mothers are treated for GBS who still get early onset GBS. Just like there are moms who test negative whose babies get GBS.
I had no idea about this but I left a comment on it and its supposed to help with infections. Wish I would have known this long ago. Monistat is so expensive!!! Maybe some people just leave it in too long?!
Thanks so much for this! I have two questions: 1) does your hospital have a protocol for the maximum number of doses a GBS positive patient is to receive? I’ve receive a few patients who’ve received 12-16 doses of ampicillin, and then of course they have diarrhea and other symptoms from the overload of antibiotics. 2) I had an intense vomiting reaction to amoxicillin as a child and haven’t had penicillins since then. I know I can safely take cephalosporins, but i was wondering if it would be worth it to take the ampicillin if I’m GBS positive, since it’s bypassing the GI tract.
1) we do not, although with inductions if things are seeming lengthly, we will not start antibiotics until contractions actually start. Saves a few doses. 2) definitely something to chat with your OB about. For non-anaphylactic allergic reactions, cefazolin is the go-to, but nausea and vomiting are technically not allergic reactions. So you’d probably be fine with a penicillin!
That’s not how I was tested for group B they took urine sample in my earlier weeks when I was around 24 weeks and tested positive and was told once positive they don’t retest again and will administer it during labor was told with medication despite I was given medication back then
Hi Elizabeth, I glanced through your uploads but didn't find any information on repositioning breech babies. Specifically, I was wondering if there was anywhere you could direct me, or advice you could give me on repositioning breech with anterior placenta?
I wish you would have contrasted the US care vs other developed country's approach to GBS. The USA takes a very overly cautious, somewhat unnecessary, approach.
I just found out I’m positive, I deliver my babies super super fast. Should I do an induction so I know he gets the antibiotics?? They want to do one anyways since I deliver fast
I have the same concern. My doctor told me they will treat me with antibiotics at the time of the csection, which means not 4 hours before. I guess because baby won’t pass through canal, however I’m more concerned about going into labor and water breaking before the scheduled csection.
Such a helpful video. I live in the UK and they don’t routinely test for or treat group B strep, which is really scary to me. Anything I can do outside of the system to get treated?
It can’t be treated before labor. So there is nothing you can do aside from pumping your body full of antibiotics during labor which kills all good bacteria in the vagina too, and thus makes it more likely for baby to catch those antibiotic-resistant hospital bacteria. Really, it’s a devils compromise. I wouldn’t do the IV antibiotics, unless the baby is more than 2 weeks pre-term. Those babies don’t have a good immune response yet to deal fight bacteria. Keep in mind that GBS doesn’t make the mom sick either! It can only makes weak or pre-term babies sick, as well as very elderly people.
They freak you out before baby is born and the pediatricians could care less after birth😂. My son's ped didn't give it a 2nd thought. I did ACV baths for my last 4 pregnancy and I was negative. I can't remember if it was my MW is the one who suggested it. I am allergic to penicillin so anything I could do to avoid antibiotics was worth it.
I was negative my first two pregnancies but just found out I was positive this time. It seems to be pretty common for it to be a 50/50 shot. My mother also was twice negative and once positive. Negative first, positive second, negative third...
@@teachingturner4033 interesting! I was negative with my twins (first pregnancy) and haven't been tested yet this pregnancy but hoping it's negative so I can labor without IVs, hoping for a VBAC.

Within the past few months there have been no nurse tech openings at my hospital in L&D :( Love your channel so much!!
I have seen soooo many people talk about GBS and getting the antibiotics but NO ONE warns you how awful getting the antibiotics is!!!! I was gbs positive with my second and got the antibiotics during labor and when I tell you it was one of the worst feelings in my life... I wanted to cut my arm off!! It feels like FIRE going through your veins!!! It burned soooo bad for me. And honestly, it was the worst part of labor!!! I think everyone should be warned that getting the antibiotic during labor is NOT FUN and should know it’s going to burn horribly!!!! I’m 37 weeks today with my third baby and I got swabbed yesterday for GBS and I am PRAYING I don’t have it this time!
I’m really sorry that was your experience. That sounds truly horrible. One other recent commentor felt the same way. But that is not the norm at all, from my experience as an RN and someone who received antibiotics for GBS. Like I didn’t notice it going in at all. You can always ask your nurse to run it it more slowly or and dilute more with the saline or LR that they have hanging. Good luck! Hoping for a better experience this time around!!
Okay and what is the point of warning about the sensation of the antibiotic vs warning about GBS and not being treated for it? I mean... is burning in your arm more upsetting than your baby getting seriously ill or dying from being infected? I just don’t understand why anyone would even complain of the sensation of antibiotics when your baby’s life is in danger.
So my doctor had me do it myself and this isn’t what they said to do. They said to insert the swab in both areas for around ten seconds while moving it around. Should I be concerned? They also don’t take a urine sample at every visit... I’m 39 weeks and 3 days.. slightly concerned.
Those directions sound good! Studies show that patients are able to collect a sample accurately too. I had that in my video but cut it for time. I wouldn’t worry about the urine either, not every practice does that.
If you’re negative your first pregnancy how likely is that to be the case again or will you almost always be positive the next, even if you were negative before?
I’m so sorry! I just watched your 10 things about c-section video, and I’m 10 weeks along with twins I will most likely have a c-section...ok question, roughly how long does a c-section last? I know it’s case by case but let’s say that everything is running smoothly.
I had an emergent (not emergency) c-section and it was all over in less than 20 minutes. Baby was fine, thank you Jesus. 🥰 It was really fast, though. And since it wasn't planned, it was a bit scary and overwhelming. I have had one c-section and one V-bac now, so I'm much better prepared mentally if I should need another c-section. It's really amazing how efficient they are now!

I took a probiotic throughout pregnancy and still tested positive for GPS. I was eating a lot of sugar around the time I was tested though.
I also tested group B strep positive during my first prenatal urine test. In some ways I think it was better to know early, since I had no idea what it meant and was able to research it, rather than finding out much later.
Thank you for talking about that gut flora! So important.
My son was born with GBS after I tested negative. He was in the NICU for two weeks.
Aw, mama! That must have been so scary for you. Unfortunately this can happen as your GBS status can change in the weeks before delivery. I hope you both are doing ok.
Nurse Zabe yes ma’am! We are both great. That was 12 years ago ❤️
I came back to this video because I tested positive in my urine at 26weeks (and an asymptomatic UTI) and I knew I could come back to Nurse Zabe to get more info and calm my anxiety
Thank you for this ! I’m getting tested in 3 weeks but my doctor didn’t really explain why they were doing it . I appreciate it so much 🤗
Thanks for your video. You put my mind more at ease about giving antibiotics
Thank you so much for making this video. I had this in my pregnancy and never knew any other information besides I had it and I needed penicillin for it. As a young mom I wish I had this video sooner and I am so happy content like this for anyone who needs it!
How did it go
Its as if you know... I'm going for my swab this Tuesday! Thank you for the information!
I should add psychic to my title screen 😂
You totally remind me of drew barrymore
Yes!!!

HAHA, I was thinking Sarah Paulson
I agree!
Her mouth is same as Drew’s !
I've already been told I have this (years ago) and I've never been pregnant yet. I went to the health center for a UTI and they told me to remember it and that it was super important for when I had babies because they get false negatives all the time on the one day they test for it. Never forgot and 10 years later I'm trying for my first!
The antibiotic that I got while in labor for GBS did burn but the nurse but a wet warm wash cloth over the iv and that really help
Great tip! For those wanting to do too, just make sure the washcloth doesn’t loosen the IV dressing!
Thank you for being here Elizabeth!!!!!
Thank you for tuning in 😊😊
What about all the negative issues caused by the antibiotics? Especially for the baby?
Exactly…
Perfect timing with this video! I just tested positive for group B strep. I was curious about it since I tested negative with my first baby.
Was your baby ok? I’m nervous as I just tested positive :/

Omg I thought I was the only one who watched both ❤️❤️❤️
This video came out 3 days after my baby but at least I now know I should take a refrigerated probiotic so I'm still glad I watched! Thanks. :)
Do you have any recommendations for good probiotics?
P.s. thanks for this video!!
Thank you, this was a really informative video and was really reassuring for me!
Thanks!
Compared to meningitis, pneumonia, and other illnesses the baby can get if infected, ill take allergies, eczema and even asthma.
Great question… antibiotics are devastating to ALL bacteria. There should be better data on this.
In my Q&A with a labor nurse I go over requesting another nurse. 😊
Nurse Zabe, I had no idea that probiotics would benefit me and baby. Thank you for all your videos, I'm a fan ❤
Thanks for this video, you calmed my nerves after testing positive.
How did it go
How did it go
Thank you so much for this video! You're awesome ❤
What kind of probiotic do you recommend?
Yeah, I tested positive for it in my first pregnancy. No symptoms, they just did an IV of abx when I had my daughter, and things were fine. Second birth, was GBS negative.
Were you give suppressive therapy prior to iv in labor for gbs and if so which antibiotics?
@kestrel hawkins
did they make you do
antibiotics for your second one too?
I love your videos! So much has changed since my son was born and it's nice to have people like you to help educate your viewers. Keep up the great work.
I was also was wondering if you have any tips for extreme mourning sickness. I have tried medication and bland foods along with other suggestions. My obgyn hasn't been the most helpful and I'm not able to keep anything down. I'm 14 weeks and I'm still getting sick multiple times a day.
Such a great video!

Lol! You uploaded this the day I got induced! I wish I would've seen this! I was induced for preeclampsia and also was GBS positive 🤦🏼♀️ baby boy didn't get here til early Saturday morning though!
Can you post a link on. Great refrigerated probiotic you think we should drink after coming home
Hi Nurse Zabe, did your baby have any side effects from you being treated with penicillin? Allergies, eczema, food sensitivities, etc.
Fingers crossed 🤞🤞
I am curious if having sex before the test could alter results?
How did it go? I'm allergic to penicillin too.
@@carolynr2225 I was negative.

Do you have a session about GD? Just wondering what happens after giving birth.
Same. I only got my urine checked once by my OB and that was during initial visit...🤔
@@ButterflyyBeautiee Yeah! Idk if my OBGYN should have been taking more urine samples or what?? I've had a less than satisfactory experience, so I wouldn't be surprised 🤦♀️
But I hope it's just different with all doctors!
@@Nurse_zabe Yes! Thanks for the explanation!
I did ACV baths and I was neg in my last 4 pregnancies. I believe my midwife suggested it.

Why would anyone want to shove garlic up there?
Katelynn Nye Garlic can work beautifully for yeast infections.
A lot of people swear by it for all sorts of vaginal problems.
But stay away!
I don't think they stick it up there I think they bathe in it cx
@@thequirkykittymeow6038 I've read lots of online forums saying to stick a clove up for yeast infections, stds, gbs, you name it. 😩
I had no idea about this but I left a comment on it and its supposed to help with infections. Wish I would have known this long ago. Monistat is so expensive!!! Maybe some people just leave it in too long?!
Thank you very much, you have given me peace of mind.
What refrigerated prebiotic do you recommend nurse zabe??
What probiotic do you recommend to drink? And how many times a day?
I was positive with my first child and next 3 I was negative for GBS
I was positive at my 6 weeks appointment. I wish I had you relax me then haha
I was so bummed to know I was positive so early, but at least I avoided an extra swab!

So, if I'm GBS positive which I am....... and have a scheduled C-section will I receive the iv antibiotics for four hours prior to C-section?
I have the same concern. My doctor told me they will treat me with antibiotics at the time of the csection, which means not 4 hours before. I guess because baby won’t pass through canal, however I’m more concerned about going into labor and water breaking before the scheduled csection.
@@sogno_di_carta6430 I ended up having an emergency C-section at 35 weeks and 6 days. I received iv antibiotics as well.
Can being treated for group b strep effect immediate breast feeding. If you are not allergic to the penicillin family.

Love your channel so much!!
Postpartum, ER, ICU would all be good units to be a tech on in hopes of transferring to L&D as a tech or later as a nurse. 😊
Nurse Zabe thanks so much!!💕
I got GBS and I have no idea how I got it
Hey Nurse Zabe, I’m curious If taking a women’s probiotic would help with the GBS bacteria at all?
amy norris good question! I am taking fem dophilous probiotics for better bacteria gut health this pregnancy. ☺️
Everyone’s body is different. I had my baby a week ago and was GBS + like I was my last pregnancy and had no problems with the penicillin either time.
Everyone is different. I had the IV and didn't even notice it!
I've been GBS positive 3 times now. The antibiotics never bothered me!
Okay and what is the point of warning about the sensation of the antibiotic vs warning about GBS and not being treated for it? I mean... is burning in your arm more upsetting than your baby getting seriously ill or dying from being infected? I just don’t understand why anyone would even complain of the sensation of antibiotics when your baby’s life is in danger.
thank you 💜
So my doctor had me do it myself and this isn’t what they said to do.
Nurse Zabe wonderful! Thank you so much! Just walked into my hospital for my appointment. Hopefully the last one! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
If you’re negative your first pregnancy how likely is that to be the case again or will you almost always be positive the next, even if you were negative before?
I guess 50% as it has happened to me that way. I was negative on my first, and now I’m positive.
Her lisp is so cute. She looks like Drew Barrymore
I’m so sorry! I just watched your 10 things about c-section video, and I’m 10 weeks along with twins I will most likely have a c-section...ok question, roughly how long does a c-section last? I know it’s case by case but let’s say that everything is running smoothly.
My c-section with my twins, from being wheeled back to being wheeled out was about 30 minutes.
@@Legal.Knievel That makes it sound a little less scary since its so short
I had an emergent (not emergency) c-section and it was all over in less than 20 minutes. Baby was fine, thank you Jesus. 🥰
It was really fast, though. And since it wasn't planned, it was a bit scary and overwhelming. I have had one c-section and one V-bac now, so I'm much better prepared mentally if I should need another c-section. It's really amazing how efficient they are now!
@@pineappledeedee1705 mine was urgent too. They delivered my twins early at 36+2 because I was starting to show signs of preeclampsia, so they delivered me to prevent me from getting it.
At the end of the day you have the right to decline or approve the antibiotics. It is 💯 the laboring woman’s choice.
