As a nurse I've used the vein viewer several times (in the hospital we call it the vein finder). I have mixed feelings about it. It sometimes helps to find the vein, but even when it does, it doesn't show how deep the vein is or where the needle is in proximity to the vein. It also essentially becomes useless if the patient's veins roll. Another problem with it is the light that it shines is obstructive to the needle. The way nurses know we're in the vein is when blood travels up the needle to the port that sits outside the skin, but we need to be able to see that blood, and the light from the vein finder is so bright and green, it's very hard to see that blood come through. Don't get me wrong, the vein finder helps sometimes, but many of us only use it as a last resort.

Thank you. I was wondering how well those actually worked. It also explains why some techs are great at drawing blood while others... need practice.

I was in the hospital in 2021, and they tried to use a vein finder on me. It did not go well. They had to stick me four or five times to actually hit a vein. It was kind of messy.

I’ve got great veins and never minded being a pin cushion for someone training, but I met one 2nd lieutenant who shouldn’t be allowed needles. 😂😂

I have what a nurse once called "deep veins". During two hospitalizations in the last 12 years, and blood draws for Coumadin blood thinner, I have had experiences at both ends of the scale - some nurses are very good and I barely felt it, while others could not find the vein and wind up moving the needle INSIDE my flesh... OUCH! A couple times I had a "blow out", resulting in a huge ugly bruise. 😢

..Interesting to hear it from a real wourld experience...
..btw dont let a doctor near when thay say thay r just going to draw a little blood, leave it to the pros aka Nurses (dont think i ever been so bruised up as when a doc 'tried' to draw blood)

My son bought me an Ember mug and coaster as a birthday gift a couple years ago. I work from home, so I have it on my desk, and I use it almost every day. I had no idea it cost so much. But regardless of the price, it's one of my favorite things any of my kids has ever bought me, and since I would otherwise have to go reheat my tea 3-4 times before I drank it all, it's incredibly helpful, as well! It's wonderful, too, to have a son who's so good to his mama.

But for anyone just starting to work it would be a great way to not get where I am in the first place.
And those solar panels to recharge devices: With such small panels it will take years to fully charge. The has to be something fishy about what the developer says it can deliver.

18:04 look up the medical drone company in Rwanda (I forget the name) but they have a (in my opinion) better system on a much lower budget, there was also another delivery drone company here in the US (it might have been connected I’m not entirely sure.) but it uses heavy duty drones to carry smaller quieter drones that hold the actual package and the big drone hovers at a height that stops most of the sound from its props from reaching the ground making it mostly soundless, and then it basically mission impossible’s the droid (as it’s called) down to the delivery zone, drops the package gently off, then lifts the droid back up and leaves.

Blimey, a tonne of amazing things here 😮 The Foodini looks curious but as someone who was on Cat C pureed food only for seven years, texture within food is so crucial. I was going Insane for texture, there was no crunch or chew and those are actually part of the body recognising eating, I was absolutely starving hungry and so fed up with horrendous preformed gross meals, no matter how nutritionally rich they apparently were 😔 The loo roll capsules is a great idea severely let down by not being flushable which is deranged. We already have the sewerage systems jammed with wet wipes because people insist on flushing them too. Plus the capsules need to be in a vessel of water to expand, many a place where you would need them wouldn't have that facility in the first place 😕 The vein finder one seems fascinating, I have to have a lot of blood tests, this could be quite beneficial and could well lead the way for further applications within this field. Flippin great video, cheers me dears ❤

The vaccines I'd gotten in my first enlistment had expired, so I needed the full battery - 10 of them! The Corpsman told me I could get half now and half later. I told him, "Do 'em all now, I won't be coming back!" So I got half in one arm, half in the other! My arms were so sore I could barely lift anything for a couple days. 🥺

If you're really uncertain of your phlebotomy skills or need to do it with as few sticks as possible, you can do your venipunctures under ultrasound guidance it it's available. Also, it certainly will NOT take the place oof CT of Ultrasound for deep venous investigation.

    😁👋👍👍👏👏💕🙏🏻
The last one reminded me of the cartoon The Jetsons when they dump all the food in the machine. And it would make them dinner.

I still want the Space Family Robinson's clothes washer. Dump dirty clothes in, moments later they come out the other end cleaned, pressed and plastic wrapped! 😅

Like the 30 second phone charger, most of the products that never came to be is because they didn't work. It's impossible to charge a phone in 30 seconds! It would get so hot it would melt! A battery can only charge so fast!

I’ve had that vein viewer used on me a few times. It’s really great. I am a very hard stick. It’s not just rolling veins, but I’ve been told that I have an insane amount of valves in my vascular system. Valves have to be avoided or they will be blown out by the needle. I’ve had nurses and phlebotomists have to stick me 10 or 15 times, blowing out many valves during the process, which is painful. Thankfully the valves repair themselves, but this Vein Viewer allows them to hit the vein every time. The problem is, they usually have to stick me 5 times before they decide to go get the machine. I guess when they become more common, there will be enough to go around.
Anything that glows has some level of radiation. I don’t know if I’d want to wipe myself with anything radioactive over a long time. Could be problematic, but we wouldn’t know for a decade or two. I don’t want to be the first one with anal cancer when they find out that glowing toilet paper was the cause. I guess a good lawyer could get you a great settlement, but that wasn’t be worth it if you’re either dead or have an ostomy bag for life. Just buy a nightlight for your bathroom; problem solved.

My veins are hard to find. I’ve had them use this twice. It’s pretty cool BUT they find vines that are deep in muscles and it hurts really bad. One time they went through my bicep with a thick and long needle. I have a high pain tolerance and I almost cried.

Had to come here just for the vein viewer. I had one used on me in the hospital several times because of several combined issues and those things are a miracle wonder to those of us who are so terrified of needles they pass out calm down a little bit. Kids find them so interesting that often times they forget they are about to get poked I was told by a nurse who used it on me. I'll never forget how it took 3 nurses and finally a doctor to get my IV needle in and 7 pokes it was pure horror and worse of all they took it out a few hrs later and released me!!!! I had been there over a week but still ugh. So many horror stories

Last time they had trouble getting an IV in me (as my veins both suck and roll) they used some kind of ultrasound thing to get it first try. And it lasted longer too.
