      Funnily enough I just found Factor the other week from Facebook. I had a home cooked meal last night and found I already couldn’t eat as big of portions as I used to. I already feel different in 2 weeks of use. Has anyone else used these meals and had changes this fast? These meals aren’t frozen so it actually tastes good. I highly recommend the juices. Those "knobs" are to avoid aplying all the weight of the console to the slides when is laying on a surface, instead to apply it to the main body that is more sturdy, you even can see how it flexed when you pushed it down slightly.🙃

    You should test the deadzones on the joysticks whenever you make videos about 3rd party controllers because for me thats the most important part that makes or breaks a controller. I say this because I typically find that with a lot of these 3rd party controllers the sticks have large deadzones and really make the controller feel cheap and unresponsive.

    • @adrianpadin1840
      @adrianpadin1840 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      This is one of my major issues with the original Hori Split Pad. The joysticks feel nice but they have a huge deadzone, to the point where I can't play games like Hades that require precise inputs because I feel like I'm steering a boat when I move around. Too bad the sticks on my joycons keep drifting and Nintendo refuses to acknowledge the issue

      @@adrianpadin1840 I had the same problem but with the 8bitdo ps4 styled controller and its even worse on larger controllers since the sticks are physically larger and have to be moved further making the problem even more noticeable. I ended up returning the controller and just using nintendos first party controller because it bothered me so much which sucks because I love the extra features like back buttons and additional profiles as well as the ergonomics of some of these controllers. The Binbok joysticks had a different issue wherein they didn’t actually track motion in a 360 circle. It was like they were just being processed as dpads by the controller. No such issue with the Hori Split Pad Pro.

      @Maybe_Saber 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

It was awhile ago and I don't really use my switch that much anymore but I still watch wulf den and reviews from time to time. Just wish they would mention the joysticks and their quality considering they help market these controllers to an extent and bring in sales. The nubs you cut off are there to stabilize the controller so it doesn't flex the rails if you push on them. Blocks it from bending past a certain point. Adds a bit of a feeling of rigidity. Probably not necessary

    The nubs add twisting rigidity and make the switch feel a lot more like a single object rather than just 3 that are held together by the rails alone. They're not necessary, but they go a long way in making the switch feel more like a unit than without. I wish more large joycon used them.

    • @mymusicaljesus
      @mymusicaljesus 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The entire subject around motion controls is maddening because SO MUCH could be EASILY FIXED by the littlest bit of effort from all of these companies.
      PlayStation and Xbox have had gyro built into their controllers for years now but it’s rare to see them implemented in a practical way for any of their games (eg: all shooters) - they’re usually reduced to some useless feature in some odd title once in awhile.
      Nintendo is leading the charge and it’s pretty much expected now from their 1st party titles as well as ports brought over to the Switch, but then sometimes they just don’t follow all the way through like you mentioned.
      It’s the main reason I use a XIM Nexus gyro controller now to play Xbox/PS console shooting games instead of their own controllers. They could easily fix this by encouraging developers to implement them in all their games. Instead, XIM gets my money so I can fully enjoy my games.
      (Sorry for the ridiculously long rant)

If you use the d-pad like I do, you will know what I’m talking about. I own three awesome 8bitdo controllers which I absolutely LOVE, and the d-pads on those aren’t as good as this one.
    Hint: try playing a Mario game climbing a ladder or a vine, if you SLIGHTLY lean your thumb to the left or right while holding true up or down, most all d-pads will take the input as right/left and you’ll fall off the vine/ladder.

So, for example if I wanted B to be on the extra back button of the Left controller, I'd remap the camera button to function as B in the Switch options (bypassing the inability to map buttons from the right to left, because B is now mapped onto the left controller!). Then map the camera button (now functioning as another B button) to the button on the back of the left controller. Voila!
    You lose the ability to screen shot with this method but I rarely if ever use it.

      You can only remap on the Joycons and Pro-Controller.

    i think the nubs on the back are for reduced stress on the switch rail where the joy con hold in place when the switch is flat on a surface.

  • @brandonrobinson1603
    @brandonrobinson1603 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    People say the nubs are for laying the switch flat. The nubs keep the large controllers from weighing down and damaging the joy con rails on the switch itself

    I prefer the Joy-Cons in portable mode for the more relaxed story-based games where I'm going to benefit a lot from HD Rumble when it comes to immersion. A good example is Kentucky Route Zero (excellent game by the way).
    For more intense gameplay, I just want something that's going to allow me to play the best I can. For instance, the Split Pad Pro is my preferred way to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The feel of the triggers really works for me in that game, and those smooth analog sticks make for some easy and precise steering with the left one.
    Gotta say, I'm digging the gray and yellow for the Split Pad Compact. I know there's an all-red version too, but I prefer this one. I think it has kind of a retro vibe (maybe late '70s/early '80s). I wasn't going to get one since I already have the Split Pad Pro, but I might consider it if the buttons, analog sticks, and grip feel nicer.
    The BinBok controllers and ones like them are fine I guess, but they're a gamble when it comes to quality. I prefer going the officially licensed route with Hori's offerings.

    The reason for those nubs are to protect the switch. If you were to place something on the switch, they are designed to transfer the pressure to the housing of the switch itself, instead of to the joycon rails. You can see it flex at 10:00 when you press the button.

    These things look pretty great. Now we just need binbok or someone to clone them and slap in gyro and rumble like they did with the split pad pro, and I'll actually want to scoop em up. I love the original binbok split pad clones.

    I keep seeing new joycons and I really want to try them out but after looking at the reviews it just doesn't seem to be worth it. I'm pretty surprised. I didn't think it was going to be as impactful as it has been. But handheld mode with my satisfied grip has just been an overall really pleasurable experience.

    It would be awesome if 8BitDo would create joycons. They'd probably put the d-pad above the left analogue stick like they do with most of their controllers which would help a lot with the ergonomics when playing 2D games with the d-pad.

    I think the nubs in the back are to hold the switch up against the dock when docked so it is not resting on the USB port only as I'm sure some people are very rough putting their switch into and out of the dock and this helps minimize damage to the USB C port.

    Originally got the binbok joycons and they were way too plastic-y feeling, also the A,B,X,Y didn't feel great.
    The Nexigo came up on sale at one point for ~$30 and decided to try it, and it's so much better. -there's no flat spot to stand it up on the bottom of the (grip nub) but the buttons feel so much better and I actually prefer the flat buttons, not sure if it's because they have less travel as well or what but def feels better.
    If I played more in handheld and didn't want wireless i'd have probably got these when I saw them.

    For portable mode on the Switch, I personally think there is no better option than the Fixture S1 (if you already own a Pro Controller). The standard setup for the Steam Deck and Switch is just so awkward to hold. It's like holding up a keyboard with a screen. Attaching new controllers like the one featured in this video help, but it still feels so long. The fixture S1 is just freaking perfect because I can continue to hold a controller like I have been for 30+ years.
    I PRAY that Fixture or some other company releases some more comfortable way to hold the Steam Deck portably.

    I don't know why so many seem to recommend the binbok/nyxii etc. Every single unit has a huge deadzone that is a hardware issue.
