35:02 I think what he means by India doesn't have free speech is regarding religion. People here respect/fear their Gods so much whether it is the Hindus, Muslims or Christians they neither criticize nor they tolerate criticism or comedy regarding the religion. I think that is the only one aspect where people are not allowed to speak even their own parents don't allow it. Other than that I don't see anywhere free speech is controlled or banned.

There the comedy was at peak about some Hindu believe created by Hindus and enjoyed by Hindus, I watched with subtitle, so I may miss something. But it seamed Hindus are more open than American Christians to comedy their gods.

Regarding Freedom of Speech, India has too much ethnic, religious and linguistic diversity than any other country in the world. So a single entitled individual exercising his 'freedom of speech' can cause a ripple effect beyond imagination in our society. So, restriction of freedom of speech in India basically means restriction on trash talking... In India the freedom of speech concept is different compared to the freedom of speech concept in the west.

I am giving you one example,,so you can understand how much extra freedom we have - someone openly complained police officer about our Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji not sitting properly (he waves his hand for people by opening the gate of car and comes out of car a little bit)

India has "flawed speech" and not "free speech" . What I mean is, you can say one thing that the leftists (who ruled for 60+ years after we got independence) have accepted over the years and can't say other things .
For example if you criticise things that the minority communities do in India you most likely will be cancelled from everywhere . But at the same time if you make fun , insult ,and threaten to massacre the majority (hindu community) you get more and more offers and opportunities in your life. Ever since modi took over as the pm it has started to shift a little but it is still very hard to get to that free speech goal because of how skewed it is .

I think he is referring the cancel culture of India, leftists are the only ones allowed to have extremely messed up opinion and no one will mind it except for right wingers, even govt wouldn't help them, but if a right winger said something about certain religion, or certain persons from history like Gandhi you can be jailed for it law-wise, there are lots of small stuff like that which if stacked together will sound quite a lot, but in general I think it is as free as any other country even with people with extreme opinion towards certain segment of people but you starts getting death threats for it and sometimes actually uhh...

Free speech is a fundamental right in India which cannot be taken away under normal circumstances (can be curtailed or dismissed ONLY at the time of War or internal armed rebellion). Having said that Free speech in India does not extend to inciting bigotry, public panic for personal benefit etc. In all such cases, a CIVIL lawsuit can be filed against the individual and he cannot use his right to free speech as an escapegoat for carrying out bigotry.
Ranveer and his guest are not talking about free speech as a right. They are saying that there are certain things which people don’t say in the open as they can be construed as inciting bigotry and hence be followed by lawsuits.
People in the comments saying India doesn’t have free speech have no idea about Indian Constitution and laws😐😐😐

Usa is still a superpower, both economically and militarily. There's no question about it. It will take at least 50 years for others to catch up. Dr. Abhijit Chavda is right. Most European countries are puppets of USA. If not, they would be able to decide for themselves on various matter, but they side with USA on most things. The naive narrative on this is that all those countries have the same values but the other side of the argument is that those countries have to because they lack military firepower and population. Country's autonomy comes from financial stability, military power, and population. Most European countries brag about per capita income, but other than France, UK, Germany and Russia (Euroasian country in my opinion) almost all lack both military firepower and population, so they are forced to align with USA.

Indian constitution guarantees freedom of speech and expression but there are limitations ( as in any country ).
But the limitations were drafted during the British occupation to preserve the British colonialism.
The constitution doesn't stop the Indian state to pass laws and place restrictions on the FoS ( which we have done ) on grounds of -
Interests of the sovereignty and integrity of India, the security of the State, friendly relations with foreign States, public order, decency or morality or in relation to contempt of court, defamation or incitement to an offence.
So there exists multiple laws in India that curb the actual free speech and the right to free speech isn't absolute.

The free speech issue can be put up with an example.
France is known for absolute freedom of speech. But you'd be aware of what happened to a school teacher some time ago for making some religious comment. Charlie Hebdo is another example.
Same issue exists in India, but in India people tend to be cautious and measured when soeaking on religious issues, unlike in France.

    ✍️Posted Last Year
60 women, 51 children and 9 men were escaping from Myanmar to Malaysia in a ferry. Needless to say, all of them were Rohingya Muslims.
But by the time they reached Indonesia, their boat started leaking, so they decided to settle in Indonesia. But the Indonesian Coast Guard pushed them back into international waters. Remember, Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world.
Countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia etc. keep giving contradictory statements against India regarding the Rohingya Muslims of India on the basis of humanity and that India should treat them equally.
But despite all these being Muslim countries, they do not open the doors of their country for their own Muslim brothers, then with what mouth do they dare to give advice to India at times.
India should raise this matter loudly in the Human Rights Commission that just as we (India) have opened the doors of our country to any Jain, Sikh, Hindu living all over the world, in the same way these Muslims should also open the doors of their country to us. Should be opened for Muslim Baradars.
Can't the 52 countries of OIC come together and adopt these few unhappy Muslim brothers also? Shame on such OIC and such Muslimness.
    from me for them
    Aak Thu❗️

If I am not wrong, the data centers for TH-cam are in India, not the US. If youtube has a data centre in the US and controlled by the US, I am sure the next day India will ban TH-cam in India and thats a great loss for TH-cam as its the main growth for them in the world, and not the US.
The US had no leverage on India whether its through trade or security or anything else for that matter. The US needs India more than India needs the US.

If u want to know the reason why so much distrust in india for western power u have to watch alot as our news feed is different naturally bcoz of difference in our geographical Proximities. U can start with "Think school" Videos on US in Middle East and US support to Pakistan against india.
That would give u the basics, for all this.

You can't say anything that disregards Indian people.we have 1.5 billion people of different ethnicities ,religions so we have to take care of it. That's the meaning of no free speech in india😂

I think indians will teach the whole word what true freedom pf speech means😂😂 i mean man... we are literally now getting that we are free to speak because of the hindu majority if we were also so called secular like pakistan but they also call themselves islamic nation but in india becquse of hindus in majority everyone is free to speak since years

I think India has more freedom of Speech than many European or developed countries in terms of Criticizing certain policy , idea or Country , politics. But obviously to maintain a diverse ethnic country of 1.4 billion people , there are certain restrictions but that is not on discussing idea or idelogy. Infact communist party of India support or appease China in India-China conflict but freely roam the country. 😅😢
