    I highly recommend Vanessa Van Edward’s book entitled “Captivate”. It states that studies have shown that the most likable people are the ones who like more people. In other words, if you like more people, people tend to like you back.

      i don't believe that if you like people, people tend to like back, it's pretty relative tbh, people bend to carisma...i know it because my partner is very carismatic but he hates everyone and just wants ppl to go ded in a ditch, but people like him very much still :/ and he still gets more public than me, who likes people more and try my best

      @@Suveramort I don't know, that sounds like a special case. Your partner is skilled at manipulation. They are actively deploying their charisma. This post is saying that, for the average person not trying to affect a result, people will respond positively to people they perceive as genuinely positive.
      You compared yourself to your partner when saying they get more public (attention?) than you, but let's ignore that. When you say you try your best, are you saying you try your best to be likeable? Do you feel like too few people respond positively to your efforts? You mentioned your partner dislikes humans but many people are drawn to them. Does this mean you are impressed and fascinated and care about others and their interests and goals, but still feel most people dislike you?
      It's possible that your feeling of being disliked is creating a distrust that you don't recognize, which is actually pushing people away. Just something to think about. Don't hold yourself to a quota, especially one based on such disingenuous behavior as you described from your partner. If you want to smile at others, do so. If they don't smile back, that's fine. It didn't stop you from smiling and being kind, and that's all you wanted to do so you succeeded. Maybe it caught them off guard, but it'll make them smile at the next person.
      Just assume your positive efforts have positive impacts you don't see, and hopefully you'll begin trusting them again. 😊

      Well i think its how you'd phrase it. You dont need to exactly say "i like you" you could also say Things like: you're a good friend, i enjoy being around you, i have so much fun with you. Or say things you like about them/with them directly. Like: playing video games with you is fun, i like the way you always have ideas for stuff.... Of course this COULD still imply feelings of love. But of you really anjoy being around someone and they Ghost you after telling them that, without ever stating why or see if they're right.... I dont think i'd want a friend like this anyways xD

    There is one problem related to being happy about what other people are being happy about. If you're feeling not happy about what the others are being happy about but being forced to go along with it such as being forced to attend some loud and lawless parties where everyone goes wild with endless liquors, you won't feel happy because you're being forced to just to fit in with the others.

    For the past while I've been on autopilot and distancing myself from others and staying isolated to the point where going to the mail box feels like a weight of bricks. But recently, I started to get myself out there by dressing up in my homemade Spider-Punk outfit and cruising around the streets on my long board and handing homemade stickers of my artwork. In addition, I enjoy hearing people tell me that I've made their day, it just makes feel true happiness. My father once told me, "Money doesn't buy happiness, it buys comfort and misery." Note chameleon effect means matching other people's energy or body language, however, don't let it get too far. let them know when you're uncomfortable as well. You don't have to be friends with everyone especially if they do things you don't like. If you like being a listener that's cool, but if you like to talk about yourself, you can do that. If a person really likes you they want to get to know you. Do let them talk, no one likes it when someone only talks about themselves. Don't be judgemental doesn't mean don't have an opinion. They clearly said that so don't misunderstand. You don't have to fake it just learn that other people's views matter.
    THIS IS SO DAMN LONG.
    I feel like no one will read it, but try to. Hope it helps a bit

  • @CashySwanson

    What it comes down to is to just be yourself. Work on yourself and truly refine yourself as a person. Anybody who doesn't like who you truly are isn't worth being liked by. I used to adapt to the people near me to be more likeable, but I'm more liked nowadays without giving a single care in the world about how people perceive my personality as.
    Obviously though don't treat hygeine the same way, be clean and work on your physical health. Just because you shouldn't value others' opinions on how you look/act doesn't mean you get to be a slob or an asshole.
    That's just my take on life anyways.

      This is all amazing and totally true, but I still have the mental mindset of,
      “If I never show any signs of negativity, if I never show anger or sadness, if I just stay a happy bubble of joy forever, then they won’t hate me.”
      I always feel like my friends hate me, but are too nice to tell me so, so they just act like they like me. They’re good people, I know that, but my insecurities and overthinking make me feel that way. We have been getting more and more distant, especially with one of my friends, and the silence between us isn’t comfortable in the slightest. I only have one friend I truly, truly, believe actually likes me, and that’s my newest friend. She makes me feel TRUELY happy and supported, and I’m so thankful to have a friend as great and rare as that.

    Personally, I’ve mentally been using these tips on my own and I would say it’s been good!
    But one thing is make sure that person you want to befriend doesn’t end up relying on you. Like for example they end up always wanting something from you and never give you anything back (different if they just don’t bring supplies and genuinely talk to you as a friend outside of asking for supplies). Or maybe they only come to vent to you (sometimes asking or maybe not asking if it’s an okay time to do that) instead of actually talking.
    But don’t forget not everyone is like that, there’s a lot of good people in this world but don’t let the person rely on you to the point it drains you. You deserve to feel good in that relationship too!

I've been doing it for years now and have felt less disappointment, don't hold grudges as much as I use to, and have felt more positive and happy after realizing that I have the power to surround myself with positive things in life c: of course, there will be situations you go through that you feel you had no control over (maybe being born with toxic parents for instance), but I believe what he means is that you choose to put yourself or keep yourself in certain situations and thus, you have the responsibility of owning up to your mistakes while also having the power to take yourself out of toxic situations and surround yourself with a healthy environment. With parents for instance, you might not be able to get away from them, but you can choose not to believe the toxic comments they make. Interesting, especially for me who cannot really tell anything from facial expressions or gestures. Also I love a good, intelligent debate, for me it is fun. I can debate without judging others... some people are just a bit too sensitive in my opinion. It takes a while for me to make friends...
    Also I once tried mimicing the others movements and speech pattenrs to make myself more likeable, they noticed it and were confused. Its hard to do without them noticing

    I really like this channel and your work. But honestly, I don't know if my point of view isn't right but I don't feel that it's really important to "make people like you". It's like it send 2 wrong messages : 1. You need people to like you as if it was a goal in life and 2. You need to consciously act a certain way to make others like you wich in my opinion suppress a part of authenticity.
    I'm not saying that it's bad to make people like you more or to want to be more likeable. Just that there is so many vidéos just on this channel like that (how to know if someone like you offline and online and those stuff). We are not all the same and the way we express our emotion can be so wide.
    Don't forget as they say themselves, those videos are for educational purpose only.

    • @joelcampos8795
      @joelcampos8795 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Everyone wants people to like them. I think these tips are meant to help people who maybe don't have very good social skills and just want to improve in that area. I agree that you should always be authentic and not try to be someone you're not. But I don't think that's what they're saying. For the most part these are just tips for being a better person.

    • @SoKelly
      @SoKelly 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think we should all want to be a likable person while also being okay and at peace with the fact that not everyone will like you. Sometimes being “authentic” to “who we are” becomes a road block to bettering ourselves, and can easily promote the excuse “that’s just how I am” when in actuality it’s “that’s just what I know” & good genuine people that care about themselves and others will do better when they know better.

    Tips on starting conversation to avoid that awful silence?

    • @yxshitha3272
      @yxshitha3272 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      simply asking "hey, what's up?" or "what did you do today" can be the start to an interesting conversation! if there is an awkward silence, let it stay that way for a bit, and ask them another question (it could be anything at all). remember to smile and be positive! also, avoid asking questions where the answer is just a yes or no. for example, "do you like carrots?" can be replied to as "yes", but that's it. instead, maybe try "what is your favourite vegetable?" which can be replied to as "I like carrots! what about you?" which then allows you to answer back, and you both have something good to talk about. also, choose common ground. they may play basketball, and you do too. so talk about that!
      hope this helps! :)

(ex: my friend knows she has very strong opinions, so that was the thing that i said i didn’t like about her, and she just said, “yeah, that’s very true. i am very confident in my opinions) also i love the vid, thanks for the advice!

    I feel really judgey sometimes it's just that me and my best friend find ourselves easily drained by those around us that are constantly spreading depressive thoughts. There are some cases where I think I should be kinder about a person and especially when I'm talking about them to make sure that I specify I understand what they're going through. I don't know how to help those people and plus they reject it whenever I offer so I distance myself. But I should spread more positivity about people regardless and this really did shed light on that.
