If anyone else is like me and trying to change from an introverted person into an extroverted person in order to become more interesting to others and make friends definitely follow the tips about being positive and actively listening to others. These two have definitely been helping me quite a bit lately when meeting new people or even in current relationships
You don’t have to be extroverted to become more interesting :) I’m personally an introvert but I have made many friends as time went by you could say I’m a loud introvert, don’t change urself to make others like u, yes u can improve on yourself if you feel the need to but the best people come for the real u it’s great that the tips have helped u, but please please don’t change urself just to make friends sorry for this I just felt like saying it 😅

It's like what they say, you have to seem high-value and not needy to be attractive. You hating each other already provided those thoughts (you can't hate someone you don't care about at all and ignore), so just seeing each other as nice people was enough

It's pretty hard to improve my social anxiety but I'm slowly working on it and I see improvement.
I changed my class at school bcs I was very unhappy where I was. People here are nice and friendly and my best friend noticed that I'm more relaxed now. I'm happy that I'm changing for the better and it's all thanks to my amazing classmates! I never had such nice classmates🥰I'm even afraid of the day we are gonna go to our own paths.. But at least I can anjoy the time we have left togheter🥰

I have this weird thing where I ask someone's name and I DONT LISTEN. so I can't remember. It's the weirdest thing. No matter if I'm aware and I try to listen I still don't.
A little trick I learnt is after they say their name you repeat it in your next sentence like "I'm Connie" "Nice to meet you Connie. I'm Harriet" for instance. That way your brain registers the name properly.

Waveii I totally agree with you and this reminded me of my ex who didn't call me by my name, so I asked him if he knew it one day! He did call me bub, which I thought was a special nickname, until I found out that he said it to many women, even ones he didn't know. I'm so glad he's an ex now and I won't go into the many other reasons why that's the case. 🙂

I honestly feel weird when someone calls me by my name when I haven’t personally met them. If you haven’t talked to them or they haven’t told you their name. Please ask before you call them by their name or say “Your name is (blank) right?”. Just my advice for making the first tip work without creeping them out.
Well that makes you unapproachable. Especially if you make a face when they are trying to be friendly.

I think the video focuses on getting the people you already know / who know you like your classmates or co workers, I think that is actually a good tactic to get people to like you . But ofcourse, random people calling you by name can be a bit unsettling especially if you haven't introduced urself to them or aren't familiar with them .

My name is quite rare so the "call them by their name" one is one I WILL notice, especially in parties or events, and for the 4th one, dyslexia sorta helps me bc 2 of my classmates actually find my slight misspeaking attractive (they told me)

I was in a similar situation when i was younger, I found out later that people-for whatever reason-found me intimidating.
Perhaps it’s the same for you. Try to show you aren’t
The trick is making what you have to say worth the bother :) if you have something funny or intriguing to add to the conversation, people won’t mind the bother and might actually like you more for being brave and interjecting :)
Also, a good trick for becoming a part of a conversation is to laugh at something funny they’re saying. If you laugh, it tells them you were listening but that it wasn’t in a negative manner. They won’t think of your eavesdropping as a bad thing. They might even direct their next joke at you, since they know you find them funny.
Something that I used to do is when the person is alone I try to go make an excuse on why I'm with them like you need a partner or you need help on something. Also once you get the hang of it just approach a new person and introduce yourself.
I’m not here watching this not just to make new friends. But to be a better friend. Everyone gets stressed once in a while and that’s how I’ve been and I realized I wasn’t acting as nice as I usually do. I’m going to try to implement talking about positive things and giving compliments more often

Fair warning: be a little careful about that name thing. One of my colleagues overoes that. Sometimes he calls people by their names every other sentence, which gets really annoying. One of our customers even got really mad and asked him to stop saying her name so often. People know about the positive effect of using names and start to feel manipulated or patronized if you use their names too often in one conversation.
Ye, tbh reading this made me remember the times that I basically do that here and there, although I have no ill intention usually when doing this. I understand why it can be annoying. 8)
I have found it best to use it once or twice to get there attention and leave it at that
I almost never use peoples names in conversations other than to initiate or get their attention because of this. I typically don’t trust people if they use my name more than once or twice in a conversation
It is actually better to not try to make friemds actively. Let it happen without intervention. Most people are the type you really do not want to know. Why chance meeting that type of person. Not making an active effort to make friends gets a lot less people to talk to you, thus less undersireables. The very few that will talk to you first will be a lot less likely to be undesireables, though they will still be many of them. Should it happen that nobody starts a conversation with you, that is good also. If you have no friends, you will gain incredible benefits in the form of extreme self-reliance, resourcefulness, independence, freedom, and resilience that no social person could ever match. Either way, you win. Since I am ugly, taking the passive approach to making friends did not yield any potential friendships. Nobody wants to be seen with an ugly person, whether for a friend or boyfriend / girlfriend. Thus, I was not approached. But, I gained the enormous benefits I mentioned. So, it is okay.
trying to get someone’s attention is a good chance to use their name such as saying “i like your shoes, [name]” or “hey, [name]!”

I had made a friend at the beginning of the year- the problem was I came off WAY too strong, making me seem as the “annoying” person of the class, until the 2nd semestester, I had 2 friend groups (maybe 3), and later found myself in a pickle, the one group I desiccated the most time too, they were starting to hate me, whenever I would talk to them, they would simply cut me off as if they were annoyed. Like one second they would be all friendly to another person, next second when I start talking they are rolling their eyes, responding in a negative attitude, etc.

It's not to late to turn it around. The school bully in my primary school was hated by almost everyone at first. Over time he became more kind. By the end of the school year pretty much everyone was good friends with him.
